Proprietary Parts are Very Expensive and 'Out of Stock'. Poor Customer Support.
At first the Kärcher K5 seemed like a good Power washer. Sure, there were some plastic parts that seemed cheap and flimsy like the garden hose quick connect, but I figured I could always get a third party aftermarket replacement when it breaks. Well that may be the case for the garden hose quick connect, but the pressure hose is another story.
Somewhere a few years ago Kärcher began using a proprietary style quick connect on many of their consumer grade pressure washers. The K5 is one of them. Since it is non-standard in the industry there are few (if any) third party accessories compatible with this series of Kärcher Pressure washers, leaving you solely at the mercy of Kärcher for any accessory that attaches to the Pressure washer hose, like a replacement or an extension for the existing 25’ hose. (which they are presently ‘out of stock’ and do not know when it will be available).
After 30+ minutes w/ Kärcher Customer Service, it was clear that they had no clue, so I asked to speak to Technical Support. She said that was not possible and suggested I call a local Kärcher authorized repair service. She transferred me to Warranty Support and after another 5-10 minutes on hold they gave me a couple of numbers for ‘Authorized Service Centers’ near me. They were both about 40 miles away, but that’s OK, `cause all II need is advice. Well the first shop (a lawnmower repair shop) had no clue as to the problem I was experiencing as they had never seen a newer model Kärcher w/ this kind of quick connect. The next one (another lawnmower shop) told me that the ‘Pressure Washer’ guy didn’t work on Fridays and to call back Tuesday or Wednesday.
So not only are you out of luck on the out of stock part, when it does arrive get ready to pay over twice the price that you would otherwise pay for a suitable replacement elsewhere. And who knows when that will be? Just park the Kärcher K5 in the garage and put your thumb on the garden hose like you did before you gave Kärcher $250 or so.
I would love to just return the K5 and move on to something less proprietary, but I'm 2 weeks outside of the Amazon return window. :-(

Good overall balance of cost and cleaning power.
I like it; I just don't love it.
I've got a lot of experience with both gas and electric pressure washers. Karcher has been in the game for a long time and offer many sizes and types of washers. This K5 model boasts an impressive 2,000 PSI at 1.4 gallons per minute. That's not a whole lot of GPM for that pressure, likely because a larger volume pump would simply cost more to have the in the unit.
The pressure washer was fairly easy to put together and took me about 20 minutes. At least 10 of those minutes was spent trying to get the high pressure hose to seat into the pressure pump itself. What a pain in the you know what. I don't know if the machining was slightly off or what, but seriously I was ready to drink a second beer. At any rate, I got it all together and it looks pretty sharp.
During use, this puppy is quiet. I can't believe how quiet it is when it runs. Using the high pressure wand it really doesn't feel like 2,000 PSI to me. Maybe it's because it's a lower volume output or 2K is simply the peak power. It does do a good job at cleaning and if you need this to clean off the deck, wash the car, wash the siding...it will do just fine for you. If you plan to use it commercially; look elsewhere.
Overall, this is a good balance of power and value, but if you need something really heavy duty, plan on forking out another $200. Having said that, you have to keep in mind this is NOT a $500 gas pressure washer, so the folks comparing it to that just isn't fair. Great Machine !
I've use electric power washers and gas power washers in the past, so I feel qualified to compare this electric one vs gas washers. I am very happy with this power washer. Very easy to assemble despite the instructions which just gave me a sequence of assembly. It did the job on some tough stains on my front walk and driveway. I live in Florida and the high humidity quickly builds up the moss on anything that doesn't get direct sunlight. The water pressure and nozzle worked like a charm on the worst areas. I've attached some before and after pictures. One shows a brick with most of the moss cleaned off with some remaining to show how it cut through it. I was an instant hero to my wife ! Happy wife .. happy life !!

Worked Great the First Summer, But This Year Not So Much
I bought this power washer a year ago to replace one from another brand that I had for 25 years. It worked wonderfully last year. I stored the Karcher according to the directions at the end of summer. Today I pulled it out to power wash the patio and the dirt blaster initially pulsated in a start-stop fashion, like it would make part of a circuit-pause-part Circuit-pause making it very hard to control the wand. I looked up troubleshooting and discovered most everything out there is for different models. I finally was able to take the tip of the wand apart. It was not clogged. My other wands and attachments work fine, so I don't have a cavitation issue or a water pressure issue. It wasn't dirty and had zero mineral deposits or dirt inside the tip or any of its components. I put the tip back together and it worked normally for about 30 seconds then froze in one place. Tapping it on the ground made no difference. Every time I unscrewed the tip, shook it and put it back together it would pulsate for 30 seconds then freeze in place with a single, reduced stream. I used it maybe 12-15 hours last year. For $279 I would think it would last longer than that. I notice the same power washer is now $100 cheaper on Amazon. Not only did I not finish power washing my concrete on what is probably going to be the only day in a two week period with nice weather, Now I also have to pay $25-30 to replace the wand with an "official replacement" that all the reviews say doesn't work as well as the original. Very disappointed, especially after having such a great experience with it last summer. I doubt I will ever purchase a Karcher product again.

Kärcher is not what it used to be.
The high pressure hose on this unit is stored on a reel on top of the unit. As soon as you try to pull the hose out, the unit will fall over. It is not stable at all. You need to put your foot on the base plate to pull any hose out. The hose is a vey rigid and stiff plastic like material, that does not flex and retains the curve of being stored on the reel. The pressure hose is too short to wash all sides of a car without moving the unit. The unit uses a Kärcher proprietary quick connect fitting that is not compatible with most pressure hose extensions or accessories. The 25 foot extension hose offered by Karcher is expensive (about one third the price of the unit) and not currently available through Amazon or Kärcher. If you are lucky enough to find an extension hose, you will not be able to connect it to the existing hose and reel it in. The coupler that connects the two hoses is too big to fit through the reel guide hole. Unbelievable engineering on Kärcher’s part. The unit claims to have 2,000 psi output, but I will tell you the unit I got feels far weaker than an older 1,800 psi unit that I replaced. The water hose connection on the front of the unit is garbage, a cheap piece of plastic. Expect to replace it in short order. The unit leaks, the onboard soap dispenser does not siphon in liquid well, and is a real pain to clean. Kärcher quality has gone way down. I hesitate to call this unit junk, but you would do better with any cheap pressure washer you get at a big box store. For me, it was a waste of $200.

Terrible! Worked one time. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!
Extremely Disappointed. I purchased this premium extensive unit to clean a 20' x 20' concrete patio every year. I used it to clean the patio right after I purchased it July 2016 - it worked like it was supposed to & took about an hour. Last August (2017), a month after the warranty ran, about half way through my annual project the wand stopped oscillating, and would only clean a fine pin line at a time (instead of the wide swath that gets cleaned when the wand oscillates like it is supposed to, so my hour long annual project took 2 days to finish. Yes, I tried all the troubleshooting tips to no avail. This year, I attempted to clean the patio again, but the built-in ground-fault plug keeps popping/tripping every time I plug it in. It is not wet or damaged in any way, but it won't work. I tried several other outlets, with the same effect. I've plugged in other electrical items in the same outlets, including other heavy duty power equipment, and even a different power washer, and everything else works fine. My old inexpensive Black & Decker unit worked perfectly for over 10 years until the water line started to leak.

Terribly inadequate Instructions. Quality not what it used to be.
One wheel would not click into place; the other was fine. Had to return. I'll give them a few stars for the previous K5 this one was supposed to replace. It lasted me about three years before it died. Never could get the pump guard to work according to the instructions, which probably contributed to my first unit's demise.
Just got a replacement of this item shipped to me on 18 June. Imagine my surprise when neither wheel will 'click' into place per the instructions. I've twisted and pressed so hard I'm bending the spokes/louvers on the inside of each wheel. They simply will not attach.
Finally got wheels to stay on unit. Although they don't click into place as clearly described in the instructions, when the cap is attached to the wheel, it puts enough pressure on the axle that it doesn't fall off the unit. Being an engineer, I have no recollection whatsoever that things were this poor when I bought my first one four or so years ago. Be aware that the instructions are HORRIBLE. The very first graphic is misleading at best and flat out wrong at worst. How's that for starters?
Based on my experience with the last two acquired from Amazon, I really can't in good conscience recommend this product simply from the frustration involved, regardless of how good it might be once assembled. Perhaps one day Karcher will get it's act together. Good products require good communication.

Dead after only 8 months
First Karcher power washer I had died after 2 years, of course after warranty ran out.
I decided to put trust in this brand again and purchased this model in July 2018.
I tried using it yesterday to wash my patio, and after about 5 minutes of use I hear loud clunk thud sound from inside the unit. Water is coming on the side of the power washer and I'm already aware what has happened. The pump has died and cracked.
Not sure why Karcher started using plastic pumps which are so problematic and only their commercial units have metal pumps.
To make things worst now that I'm within warranty Karcher's customers service is nowhere to be found. I'm told to reach out to their dealers and I called 3 within 50 mile radius of me and each one told me they do not work on residential karcher electric power washers.
I'm staying far away from this brand after 2 lessons. Karcher is nowhere near where it was years back, do not trust this company unless you really want to see your money gone.
Crap product from what used to be a good name in power washing.

Buyer Beware
My first Karcher washer lasted so many years and was trouble free so I decided to buy another. I have been very disappointed, I have many years of experience working with machinery but this thing was a nightmare to assemble and you will need a magnifying glass to see the instructions. Today was my first time to use it, after getting the water leaks stopped I finally got started. The washer itself worked just fine. When I tried to wind the hose up the crank Hander fell off, it has the end broke off. Overall just to much snap together plastic, cheap construction. This one item you should not buy online, go someplace where you can get a good look at it

Good electric pressure washer from Karcher
Read a lot of reviews about pressure washers: different makes, models, types etc. And finally decided to stop on Karcher.
I know that chinese analogs with same specs are cheaper: sun joes, greenworks etc. And somewhere has better specs but I saw a lot of reviews on YouTube where complained about real values and quality.
So I’ve got k5.740 and here my review.
Overall quality:
Many questions here where it was made. It made in China. But I wouldn’t say that’s bad. The Apple makes all its stuff in China as well so it’s just what quality standards companies use for production.
When I opened the box everything inside has been packed very well. No any weird cheap plastic smells or leaks (oils or lubricants).
Assembling hints:
- use silicon spray for connectors what has rubber rings (pressure hoses). It prevents any damage and leaks then. And it will be easier to assemble.
Assemble is pretty straight forward, there is nothing hard.
If you’d like to use extension cord - please use at least 14/3 gauge cord. It says: motor needs 15 Amp. So I’ve found 50’ cord at HomeDepot with 15amp max.
First use:
When you connect water hose DO NOT ON washer!! Just allow water to come out of the gun by regular water pressure. It will remove all air from pump and hoses. After 10-15 seconds you can power on washer.
Using:
I was really impressed how powerful it is. I cleaned my deck in 20 minutes I think. Please check my pics and video. And another one thing: it’s soooo quiet!! I’d think my neighbors happy by this fact as well. :))
Motor has automatic start/stop function but if I fill that I need pause more than one minute I prefer to power off it and drop the pressure. When I ready to continue - just power on it again.

I was really hopeful but disappointed...
It’s a very, wet flimsy and cheap build for such an expensive pressure washer. I paid Hal this for my last one and it was oddly better built and even had a roll up cord storage along with the roll up hose storage. I saw this was the rope rated pressure washer so I went for it and spent the extra money after having such luck with my old electric. I am absolutely surprised by how low quality and flimsy everything is. The adjustable tip is a neat idea and the pressure is alright but in general doesn’t feel great (though it cleans ok). At this point I am going to give it another shot but it’s already leaking like a SOB so I am not sure it’s even worth keeping.

Wheels fall off. Poorly designed for mobility.
Have had for abt. 2 years now and this unit functions reasonably well. However the wheel design is deficient in that there is no spindle just a flange socket to 'snap-in' the wheel. After wheeling about for only a few uses the wells fell off and no longer hold and cannot be modified or re-installed due to design...Another note: Others have complained about breakage at the plastic hose inlet. I fitted it with a 3' washing machine hose to effect strain relief. Problem solved. This device not recommended for these reasons.

Great machine for the house!
I've used it for the last two months to power wash everything from brick and vinyl siding on my house to concrete patio, and smaller landscaping bricks and various decorative items on my backyard. This machine is amazing, works great, and is giving enough power to remove any dirt. It's actually so powerful that water pressure can damage wood items. like door and window frames so I had to be careful around those parts. I used it each time for a period of 1 hour to 5-6 hours of constant work, and I didn't have any problems with it. The only think that I would improve is to have a slightly longer standard wand. Taller people have to bend to operate the washer while cleaning at the ground level.

Perfect for moderate pressure needs and close in cleaning jobs. Not for cleaning two story heights.
This is much better than my previous (and cheaper) electric pressure washer. I've used it to clean flag stone, one story home exterior surfaces and cars now for a year, and it really works well. The different wand tips are easy to change and the pressure is great for moderate duty cleaning. I cleaned about 450 square feet of flag stone in a couple hours, and the only complaint I could have is the area of concentrated cleaning is a little small (4-6 inches wide). But the max pressure capacity of this unit is more than adequate and not having to deal with gas and oil changes is a huge advantage. If you need to clean at distance (+6 feet past nozzle) or large areas quickly, then this may not be the best choice.

Built Entirely of CHEAP Plastic

On February 7, 2020, I purchased the Karcher K5 Pressure Washer as it was recommended by one of my favorite automotive detailing YouTubers. I bought this for detailing my personal cars and was very optimistic about the product however, I can simply not recommend it.
Getting straight to the point, this thing is a huge piece of plastic that is not built to last. Everything from the wheels that support the machine, the entire body, the wand, and even the quick release hose attachments are made of a very cheap plastic material. Within the first week, the hose quick connects to the front of the washer broke meaning it was practically useless since I could no longer attach a hose to it. Because this is a proprietary part, you cannot purchase a replacement at your local hardware store and instead are stuck buying the same cheap and fragile part from Karcher. Although this is the only thing that has broken on me thus far, over time this thing will begin falling apart due to the ridiculously cheap construction, and for $230, that is unacceptable. There are plenty of well-built pressure washers on the market for the same price.
Next, the machine does a decent job at washing cars, the pressure is strong enough to remove dirt but I would definitely like it to be at least 25% more powerful for quick rinsing. As for foam cannons, I could not get a thick foam out of this, I think the PSI is to low. Also, I had to buy an attachment in order to use a foam cannon because everything is Karcher proprietary. Overall, the Karcher K5 Premium is a decent washer, not great for auto detailing, but maybe for around the house cleaning it will do the job. Cheaply made and expensive to replace parts. Expect this to last you no longer than a year without breaking parts. Stay away from this and look into the competitors. For car washing, check out the Adams Polishes Pressure Washer 2.0

Great Device
This is my second Karcher Pressure washer in 14 years. I have used this machines at my home for several years and have had good performance and results. The folks at Karcher were superhelpful when I contacted them directly about a broken part. I could have not asked for better results!! I am loyal to the brand and would highly recommend this product to other home owners. If you wash your car get their foam cannon its the only way I wash my cars now. Just use the thick car shampoo as it produces thick foamy results.

Nice for the Price
Great design and quality leak-proof construction. This pressure washer is very nice for a homeowner's use at 2k pressure. The wan design is clever in that you twist the want to go from low pressure (soap dispensing) to high pressure (washing and rinsing with water only). I have only used it a couple of times (once to wash concrete and once to wash vehicles) and I find it convenient and effective for those uses. Next job is cleaning siding and I am confident this machine is up to the task.
The pressure washer runs only while the trigger is depressed and it runs relatively quietly.

Amazing Customer Service
I purchased this washer in January. It’s a good washer for the money.
The purpose of this review is to tell you about Karcher’s amazing customer service. The washer developed a leak in the pump. Since it’s been 9 months since the purchase date, I thought I was screwed. I contacted Karcher and they instructed me to send them a copy of the original receipt and the serial number tag. I did and a week later I had a new K5!!!!!
Customer service is alive and well and it lives at Karcher!!!! I’m a customer for life.

Works Great !
I bought this to replace my 15 year old Karcher after a small snake got into the water hose and into the pump and killed it... This was as powerful as my previous one and had a few upgrades the the setup. I also bought the "Surface Cleaner" worked great together. It's quiet and has a lot of good things going for it. And a couple going against it. The water hose connector is male do it comes with a quick connect adapter that leaks and is plastic, which was in several review's. But not a dead breaker. I satisfied with my purchase

My second Karcher in 25 years. Great value
Bought this model to replace my 25 year old Karcher which finally decided to give up. I pressure wash the house, deck, fencing, driveway and pool are frequently. After only getting 1 year out of a Lowe’s gas washer,I decided to go back to electric and totally trust Karcher’s reliability.
Assembled easily and works as week as expected.
Only gripe I have is the length of the hose. Would be nice if it was 5-10 feet longer.
The hose spool is nice, and makes coiling the hose so easy.
The Ground Fault plug is somewhat of a nuisance.. you need to reset it every time you plug it in, but it’s a safety feature.. because water and electricity don’t mix well

Weak Sauce
If you’ve used a gas powered pressure washer, don’t waste your time with this one. Sure it has its place, and might be nice to use on your vehicle for a wash- however, i went to pressure wash my deck/patio and this just didn’t have the necessary ‘umph’ to get me there.
I ended up borrowing my neighbors gas powered Honda. I learned my lesson here...if you’re one the fence, get a gas powered proper motor.

Effective, quiet, great attachments
Bought this powerwasher in order to have the turbo nozzle - when shopping I noticed that not all brands at this price point come with this specific attachment. I also purchased the T300 driveway attachment. Makes doing large surfaces go so much faster, although I do touch up stubborn spots with the turbo nozzle. No complaints at all so far. Works great! Simple to assemble and figure out how to use. Well priced for what you get.
