Proprietary Parts are Very Expensive and 'Out of Stock'. Poor Customer Support.
At first the Kärcher K5 seemed like a good Power washer. Sure, there were some plastic parts that seemed cheap and flimsy like the garden hose quick connect, but I figured I could always get a third party aftermarket replacement when it breaks. Well that may be the case for the garden hose quick connect, but the pressure hose is another story.
Somewhere a few years ago Kärcher began using a proprietary style quick connect on many of their consumer grade pressure washers. The K5 is one of them. Since it is non-standard in the industry there are few (if any) third party accessories compatible with this series of Kärcher Pressure washers, leaving you solely at the mercy of Kärcher for any accessory that attaches to the Pressure washer hose, like a replacement or an extension for the existing 25’ hose. (which they are presently ‘out of stock’ and do not know when it will be available).
After 30+ minutes w/ Kärcher Customer Service, it was clear that they had no clue, so I asked to speak to Technical Support. She said that was not possible and suggested I call a local Kärcher authorized repair service. She transferred me to Warranty Support and after another 5-10 minutes on hold they gave me a couple of numbers for ‘Authorized Service Centers’ near me. They were both about 40 miles away, but that’s OK, `cause all II need is advice. Well the first shop (a lawnmower repair shop) had no clue as to the problem I was experiencing as they had never seen a newer model Kärcher w/ this kind of quick connect. The next one (another lawnmower shop) told me that the ‘Pressure Washer’ guy didn’t work on Fridays and to call back Tuesday or Wednesday.
So not only are you out of luck on the out of stock part, when it does arrive get ready to pay over twice the price that you would otherwise pay for a suitable replacement elsewhere. And who knows when that will be? Just park the Kärcher K5 in the garage and put your thumb on the garden hose like you did before you gave Kärcher $250 or so.
I would love to just return the K5 and move on to something less proprietary, but I'm 2 weeks outside of the Amazon return window. :-(

Good overall balance of cost and cleaning power.
I like it; I just don't love it.
I've got a lot of experience with both gas and electric pressure washers. Karcher has been in the game for a long time and offer many sizes and types of washers. This K5 model boasts an impressive 2,000 PSI at 1.4 gallons per minute. That's not a whole lot of GPM for that pressure, likely because a larger volume pump would simply cost more to have the in the unit.
The pressure washer was fairly easy to put together and took me about 20 minutes. At least 10 of those minutes was spent trying to get the high pressure hose to seat into the pressure pump itself. What a pain in the you know what. I don't know if the machining was slightly off or what, but seriously I was ready to drink a second beer. At any rate, I got it all together and it looks pretty sharp.
During use, this puppy is quiet. I can't believe how quiet it is when it runs. Using the high pressure wand it really doesn't feel like 2,000 PSI to me. Maybe it's because it's a lower volume output or 2K is simply the peak power. It does do a good job at cleaning and if you need this to clean off the deck, wash the car, wash the siding...it will do just fine for you. If you plan to use it commercially; look elsewhere.
Overall, this is a good balance of power and value, but if you need something really heavy duty, plan on forking out another $200. Having said that, you have to keep in mind this is NOT a $500 gas pressure washer, so the folks comparing it to that just isn't fair. Great Machine !
I've use electric power washers and gas power washers in the past, so I feel qualified to compare this electric one vs gas washers. I am very happy with this power washer. Very easy to assemble despite the instructions which just gave me a sequence of assembly. It did the job on some tough stains on my front walk and driveway. I live in Florida and the high humidity quickly builds up the moss on anything that doesn't get direct sunlight. The water pressure and nozzle worked like a charm on the worst areas. I've attached some before and after pictures. One shows a brick with most of the moss cleaned off with some remaining to show how it cut through it. I was an instant hero to my wife ! Happy wife .. happy life !!

Worked Great the First Summer, But This Year Not So Much
I bought this power washer a year ago to replace one from another brand that I had for 25 years. It worked wonderfully last year. I stored the Karcher according to the directions at the end of summer. Today I pulled it out to power wash the patio and the dirt blaster initially pulsated in a start-stop fashion, like it would make part of a circuit-pause-part Circuit-pause making it very hard to control the wand. I looked up troubleshooting and discovered most everything out there is for different models. I finally was able to take the tip of the wand apart. It was not clogged. My other wands and attachments work fine, so I don't have a cavitation issue or a water pressure issue. It wasn't dirty and had zero mineral deposits or dirt inside the tip or any of its components. I put the tip back together and it worked normally for about 30 seconds then froze in one place. Tapping it on the ground made no difference. Every time I unscrewed the tip, shook it and put it back together it would pulsate for 30 seconds then freeze in place with a single, reduced stream. I used it maybe 12-15 hours last year. For $279 I would think it would last longer than that. I notice the same power washer is now $100 cheaper on Amazon. Not only did I not finish power washing my concrete on what is probably going to be the only day in a two week period with nice weather, Now I also have to pay $25-30 to replace the wand with an "official replacement" that all the reviews say doesn't work as well as the original. Very disappointed, especially after having such a great experience with it last summer. I doubt I will ever purchase a Karcher product again.

Kärcher is not what it used to be.
The high pressure hose on this unit is stored on a reel on top of the unit. As soon as you try to pull the hose out, the unit will fall over. It is not stable at all. You need to put your foot on the base plate to pull any hose out. The hose is a vey rigid and stiff plastic like material, that does not flex and retains the curve of being stored on the reel. The pressure hose is too short to wash all sides of a car without moving the unit. The unit uses a Kärcher proprietary quick connect fitting that is not compatible with most pressure hose extensions or accessories. The 25 foot extension hose offered by Karcher is expensive (about one third the price of the unit) and not currently available through Amazon or Kärcher. If you are lucky enough to find an extension hose, you will not be able to connect it to the existing hose and reel it in. The coupler that connects the two hoses is too big to fit through the reel guide hole. Unbelievable engineering on Kärcher’s part. The unit claims to have 2,000 psi output, but I will tell you the unit I got feels far weaker than an older 1,800 psi unit that I replaced. The water hose connection on the front of the unit is garbage, a cheap piece of plastic. Expect to replace it in short order. The unit leaks, the onboard soap dispenser does not siphon in liquid well, and is a real pain to clean. Kärcher quality has gone way down. I hesitate to call this unit junk, but you would do better with any cheap pressure washer you get at a big box store. For me, it was a waste of $200.

Terrible! Worked one time. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!
Extremely Disappointed. I purchased this premium extensive unit to clean a 20' x 20' concrete patio every year. I used it to clean the patio right after I purchased it July 2016 - it worked like it was supposed to & took about an hour. Last August (2017), a month after the warranty ran, about half way through my annual project the wand stopped oscillating, and would only clean a fine pin line at a time (instead of the wide swath that gets cleaned when the wand oscillates like it is supposed to, so my hour long annual project took 2 days to finish. Yes, I tried all the troubleshooting tips to no avail. This year, I attempted to clean the patio again, but the built-in ground-fault plug keeps popping/tripping every time I plug it in. It is not wet or damaged in any way, but it won't work. I tried several other outlets, with the same effect. I've plugged in other electrical items in the same outlets, including other heavy duty power equipment, and even a different power washer, and everything else works fine. My old inexpensive Black & Decker unit worked perfectly for over 10 years until the water line started to leak.

Terribly inadequate Instructions. Quality not what it used to be.
One wheel would not click into place; the other was fine. Had to return. I'll give them a few stars for the previous K5 this one was supposed to replace. It lasted me about three years before it died. Never could get the pump guard to work according to the instructions, which probably contributed to my first unit's demise.
Just got a replacement of this item shipped to me on 18 June. Imagine my surprise when neither wheel will 'click' into place per the instructions. I've twisted and pressed so hard I'm bending the spokes/louvers on the inside of each wheel. They simply will not attach.
Finally got wheels to stay on unit. Although they don't click into place as clearly described in the instructions, when the cap is attached to the wheel, it puts enough pressure on the axle that it doesn't fall off the unit. Being an engineer, I have no recollection whatsoever that things were this poor when I bought my first one four or so years ago. Be aware that the instructions are HORRIBLE. The very first graphic is misleading at best and flat out wrong at worst. How's that for starters?
Based on my experience with the last two acquired from Amazon, I really can't in good conscience recommend this product simply from the frustration involved, regardless of how good it might be once assembled. Perhaps one day Karcher will get it's act together. Good products require good communication.

Dead after only 8 months
First Karcher power washer I had died after 2 years, of course after warranty ran out.
I decided to put trust in this brand again and purchased this model in July 2018.
I tried using it yesterday to wash my patio, and after about 5 minutes of use I hear loud clunk thud sound from inside the unit. Water is coming on the side of the power washer and I'm already aware what has happened. The pump has died and cracked.
Not sure why Karcher started using plastic pumps which are so problematic and only their commercial units have metal pumps.
To make things worst now that I'm within warranty Karcher's customers service is nowhere to be found. I'm told to reach out to their dealers and I called 3 within 50 mile radius of me and each one told me they do not work on residential karcher electric power washers.
I'm staying far away from this brand after 2 lessons. Karcher is nowhere near where it was years back, do not trust this company unless you really want to see your money gone.
Crap product from what used to be a good name in power washing.
