First of all, about me... I am a bluetooth speaker junkie. I have owned every speaker out there from Bose, to Klipsch (KMC 1 and 3), Harman Kardon Onyx Studio, Brookstone Big Blue Party, Damson, Ecoxgear Boulder, JBL Flip4 & Extreme (Extreme has nothing on the Boombox, not even close), Bose Mirco, Sony XB everything, Monster, Mifa, Fugoo XL, etc... I listen to all of the bluetooth speakers in electronic stores and watch and read countless reviews. It's safe to say I've heard at least 97% of the speakers on the market to date. Second to this I am a basshead, not an audiophile, but a basshead who enjoys good sound with thumping bass. Audiophiles are too critical when there is strong bass presence... they like neutral sound. I run 1500 watts in my car to a competition sub and can easily be heard 3 blocks in any direction when going all out. That's my flavour in a 'nutshell' and should give you an idea of what floats my boat.
So from here, I would like to say.. this thing is FRIGGEN insane! It is loud enough for most situations, except for maybe an outdoor dance party with 50+ people. Plenty loud enough for backyard gatherings, BBQ's, indoor dance parties, beach, river tubing, etc.
On max volume, it is too loud to allow conversations anywhere within a 20 ft radius. Inside, this thing thumps, put it in a corner of your room and it produces bass low enough that it sounds like a home audio sub - it is definitely the closest thing to sub bass you will ever get from a bluetooth speaker.
The wife loves the sound of it too, but thinks it is too loud and gets mad at me often as I use this in the basement while working out and she complains that it rumbles the floor and pictures on the wall which means to me it's perfect. It is super crisp and clear even at max volume. This speaker outdoes every other bluetooth speaker I've ever owned in both sound and overall loudness. The only one that goes louder and only by slightly (next to impossible for the average ear to notice) is the EcoBoulder but it is 100 watts and super distorted at these volumes and sounds like sh*t - the Boombox also has way cleaner sound and way deeper bass. I think what makes the ecoboulder louder is the treble, it's too much that it makes your face scrunch up at the distorted levels, so the JBL still gets the W here.
I have also heard people say things about it like the mids suck. While I agree that the mids aren't entirely present, the highs and bass on it are so crisp and clean, that you'll not even notice it - I promise. You can also just use an EQ from your phone and change the sound to your preference. I only noticed the mids when I compared side by side with the Klipsch KMC 3, again though like others, this speaker cannot beat the JBL in overall loudness and clarity. The Klipsch used to be my favourite speaker until I bought the JBL.
If you listen to like classical or whatever then buy whatever speaker out there as bass doesn't much matter for these types of music genres. You would still likely be pleased by the clarity of it though. But if you're like me and listen to bass heavy hip hop, EDM, rap, and occasionally top 40, you'll love this thing. Not a speaker out there in this size, portability, ruggedness and price bracket that can compete - I GUARANTEE IT! The sound signature just makes me smile every single time.
Some people have said it is heavy, well I'm sorry but if you think this thing is heavy, you need to hit a gym and stop being a wuss. It is the perfect weight and as another reviewer mentioned, the size and weight is 'the goldilocks' and I gotta agree!
One more thing to note, it sounded amazing when I first got it out the box. But 2 weeks after letting er' rip something even more amazing happened... The speakers finally broke in and the bass became even nuttier. It fills the room with such nice bass, you do not need to be sitting near it like most bluetooth speakers where the bass fades as you take a few steps away from it.
I also saw someone say that the signal kept cutting out from the bluetooth signal. I have had this happen but it is an issue with your phone not the unit itself. I simply restarted my phone and it hasn't happened since. I am using an LG V30.
SO if you want awesome bass... crazy battery, waterproof, loud, etc; buy this thing, do not even hesitate on it. Worth every single penny, I've never been happier. I will agree with other reviews that it sounds best at about 75% in my opinion, but even at max it's not distorted or anything, it just sounds less amazing than it does at 75% due to processing. One more thing about DSP (Digital Signal Processing), the JBL is the first bluetooth speaker I've owned where the bass is actually still present at max volumes. Most bluetooth speakers, the DSP is such a way that bass is nullified at max volumes to allow for less distortion... The JBL does not give a F about that, it thumps always.
Lastly about the bass, it is not a boosted fake bass, it is a true 40Hz low reaching bass that can not only be heard but felt in your chest.
Another interesting thing is that it is only 40 watts, but I would say a true 40 watts, and anyone who knows anything about speakers might think this is a low number like I did, but it is insane how they got such a powerful room filling sound from 40 watts. If you plug it into the wall, you get 60 watts of power as is running off 120 volts and allows more power to be produced than just running off the battery alone. That extra 50% of power is really noticeable, it gets very loud if plugged into the wall and still holds together very well, no distortion. So going back to comparing to other speakers, the JBL beats all the above mentioned speakers running off just battery. If you plug it into the wall, it doesn't just beat them, it CRUSHES them and eats em up for breakfast.
The battery on it is also amazing I listen to it everyday (from 20 mins while showering to hours when working out and puttering around the house) at all different volumes and have charged it twice I think in the month I've owned it.
I bought the green version of this as it was cheaper and have come to love the colour actually - we call it the green terd and anytime I bring this bad boy out, people always ask about it, and say how amazing the sound quality is. It's just a truly bad ass speaker - JBL hit a home run with this one. So stop reading, click add to cart and BUY THIS THING ALREADY and quit p*ssy footing it!
PS- I do not work for JBL, nor am I associated with them in anyway- I bought this with my own money and just wanted to leave a thorough review for anyone contemplating the purchase. I want it to bring you as big of a smile that it does to me every single damn day.

Volume no máximo sem perda de qualidade!!

There is no reason to buy any other speaker.
1 down side is the JBL App couldnt connect with my speaker. although this may be just a cellphone issue.
I opted to pay 100$ less for the forest green, its not really that green. looks grey-ish from a distance. its like a faded army green.

I’ve received this JBL BOOMBOX today,
after reading all the reviews I was expecting that, when I turn it on, it will make all the things fell off my shelves by rocking my house with the BASS.
The speaker looks very good and it has a nice kick, it paired to my iPhone SXMax in a flash, it sounds pretty nice and clear, I’m sure after it will break-in for a few hours it will sound even better, although I’m in my mid 60s and maybe my hearing its not brand-new anymore.
Pretty happy for now, but lets see how it does later after a few drinks or maybe a nice Papagna smoke🤪😜,
Not sure if i can pair a BT microphone yet so I can sing while playing the music, like a karaoke lets say, just to remind my wonderful neighbors that I’m still ALIVE. 😂🤣😂🤣🤣
Will update this review if any change.
Thanks JBL!

Sold my xtreme for this , woww what a huge differance , not comparable
But you have to set ur equalizer on spotify the same way as my picture to really feel this beast !
On the radio its self:
+ press bluetooth & ( + ) bouton for 10sec
You need one, trust me

The good:
- Lots of powerful sound with great bass reproduction
- Sound can be balanced out with an equalizer app on your mobile phone
- Bluetooth connections are great with good range, with no dropouts or buffering
- Battery life is excellent
- You can pair multiple devices
- Build quality is solid
The bad:
- Factory default equalization can sound a bit muddy sometimes
- Speaker is fairly large and on the heavy side

If you are looking for a speaker to follow your lifestyle of being outdoors this is the perfect speaker. Place it down and walk away rain or shine.

I attach a cable snowboard lock to the handle so I can lock this thing up to prevent someone from doing a quick grab at the park.

:)
I am able to move em as I see fit from warehouse to warehouse.. to another retail biz I have.. And every day, shoppers hears them somewhat cranked, marvel, and ask me how much they cost and where they can buy em. If someone were to ask how to improve these things, I'd say JBL, you are half way there. Now REALLY throw down the gauntlet, and for freaks and for extreme freaks, (I would be first in line) add an option for a 60K and 100K battery... built in of course...and then, they could actually be outrageous enough to add a 120 Volt power outlet.. power up your laptop or say for example, your buddys amazing-but-ever-running-out-of-power-looking-for-120V-HK Go & Plays..
In this scenario its still a killer sound system but also doubles as a legit battery charger. Oh, and upgrade to 6 1/2" woofers. Reach lower thump. Make these ones seem like the Kilburns in comparison. Of course this is an extreme scenario and 90% of folks will find this particular model MORE than sufficient, compared to the rest of the feeble powered battery bluethooths that are currently powering the peers. of course they are all getting better--just like this one is a huge leap past the JBL so called "Extremes" But so far no one has really gone overboard with having "too much power' --Yet.
(Tesla? Wanna step up and lower yourself to make one? If you can send up rockets that actually come back n land themselves, it IS indeed 'lowering themselves' to dabble in consumer electronics, but man just think what a boombox they could make! Course they'd make it solar powered and autonomous ;)
To improve, when wife is upstairs and I'm down , and she likes the tunes but not at the same volume, it would be cool to have a slider balance control on the JBL app. (which works fine btw) That way I can blast as loud as I wish, and she can have it on 'mellow'
One more far out idea that might be outrageously cool is, since it's already waterproof, put a two speed propeller on the back of the thing (maybe even a remote controlled through the app, rudder, with perhaps manual, as well as autobot 'figure 8', and circular modes) Though they may run into each other hehe can you tell I haven't thought this through..maybe they could talk to each other where the other one is, through the app so that never happens. Just imagine.. your pool party.. the fun times..to have these two things making their way around the pool... giving all a soundstage...maybe even have races...too much? Who says so? Can your Bluetooth do that? Rotate the pool? Lord knows there's probably enough power to do it for days.
Seriously, to sum up: Awesome, amazing, and don't believe the negativity..(anyone who claims to make any judgement from hearing it through a youtube review, and listening to said review on their headphones or whatever, where they A/B the JBL vs this or that is NOT a serious audiophile.. only way, is go listen to them for yourself and that is the only way to judge--or take a chance like I did, trust the reviews, and you won't regret it) From Debussy to Jerry Douglas to Paul Simon...From Bruce to to Derek Trucks to whatever...if you do get a chance to audition the JBL, just put on Clapton's rendition of "Autumn Leaves".. listen to the strings, the piano, light percussion setting the pace, and Clapton's lead guitar playing reverent homage to this classic, with full soundstage and depth the JBL provides... and I challenge anyone to snobbily categorize it as just a brassy, bassy, boosted and bright boom box. Dare I say it can be nuetral as well. Especially if your mp3 or music player has eq settings. It defies categorization and does its best to entertain you.
Point is the JBL it doesn't care what you input into it, just plays its little electronic GUTS out for you!
Tis a bonafide rock star, this JBL-- sure you have others like the Aiwa, but that ain't waterproof is it. Not getting into any who or what's the best, not gonna do compare to anything else, JBL made their statement here, and it stands on its own merit. It is what it is, and it's AWESOME. (I use it with the Nuetron App btw, makes the music sparkle)
One final point.. I don't think is disclosed anywhere is, if you wish to use the boombox as a charger, it will not charge anything when it's off--however, if you hook up say a cellphone to charge, and have the boombox ON, it will start charging..and then, if you turn the boombox OFF, it will continue to charge the device! So that way you don't have to have the actual power on, and yet still charge stuff.. not sure if this spelled out anywhere, but work, it does!
You can stop overthinking it, just get it folks. IMHO.

Long battery life, amazing sound, booming bass. There are loud speakers that sacrifice sound quality, and there are speakers with amazing sound quality but cant go too loud. This is one of the very few speakers that can do both; get super loud without sacrificing amazing sound quality. It’s worth more than 2 JBL extemes. I also have a UE boom; i should have bought this first and save the money i spent on the UE boom.
