I got the Jabra Evolve2 85 headphones to use while I work. I need a high quality headset with top-notch audio so that I can be heard clearly on work meetings, and when meetings are done, I want to be able to listen to music or whatever else and have it sound great. Some background that is relevant: I am a headphone junkie, and also an "office headset" junkie, and I have had the opportunity to own or use many high end headphones/headsets that would be competitors to these. Some wireless headphones I own: Sony WH-1000MX2 and the Drop x THX Panda Wireless Headphones, and some wireless headsets I own are the Jabra Evolve2 65, and Plantronics Voyager Focus UC.
The Jabra Evolve2 85 headphones are packed in a nice looking retail box without too many frills. The box includes a hard-shell zippered carrying case that feels leather. Inside the case are the headphones, a 3.5mm headphone cord (for the times you can't use bluetooth), a headphone adapter for a plane, and a small USB bluetooth adapter so you can connect these to a computer.
The aesthetic of these headphones is very similar to the Sony's. They are all black and gray, they look sleek and professional. Very impressive.
They have big, soft ear cups that go over the ear. The headband is also cushioned nicely. Overall they fit nice and are comfortable to wear. I have worn them for hours at a time and don't really find them to be fatiguing.
I paired these with my phone easily and have been very pleased and surprised with the sound quality. They're every bit as good as the Sony's for music. The noise canceling is on-par with the best out there as well. There's a button on the side of the left ear-cup that you can use to toggle between noise canceling being on, off, or "HearThrough" mode.
There are a lot of nice little touches with these, like for instance if you're listening to music and you take the headphones off, they automatically pause the music.
One thing I was worried about with these was the microphone. It folds up into the right ear-cup. You can just pull it down to use it. It is not adjustable very much (you can't extend the mic to be longer, for instance), but fortunately for me I don't have a need to adjust it. I was worried about the mic, but it works just fine. This is where the Jabra has a massive advantage over headphones like the Sony - those headphones suck for calls. The Jabra ones are fantastic.
I would encourage anyone who gets these headphones to get the Jabra Sound+ app on their mobile device. It's actually a surprisingly nice app, and gives you a lot of control over how the headphones work. You can access an equalizer, music presets (options like bass boost, speech, etc). You can also update your headphones wirelessly through this app.
If you want a great quality pair of headphones for music, while also being top-notch for audio quality on calls, these are a great option. I no longer feel the need to have a pair of music headphones and another headset for calls when I'm working.

I think if you are strictly going for music sound quality there are some better options like the Drop x THX Panda headphones. If you're strictly going to use it for phone calls and not music, there are also better options (Plantronics Voyager Focus UC). But in terms of a total package that is great for both music and calls, without any significant compromises, these headphones from Jabra are tough to beat.

The Evolve2 85 are claimed to be the top-of-the-line noise cancelling headphones for business and personal use. I was excited to give them a go since I have been working from home 90% of the time as most people nowadays. I do a lot of web conferencing and make calls all day using diverse software, including Cisco, Zendesk, Zoom, and MS Teams, which this headset is especially designed for.
The Evolve2 85s are nicely designed -certainly business casual. They are matte black with some graphite metal accents on the cups’ arms and swivels. The earcups are large, featuring 40mm speakers. The flexible headband features soft padding, but I wish it would have been a bit plusher. The earpads are made of memory foam covered by an exceptionally soft material. On the left earcup, you will find the power/pairing slider, USB-C port, 3.5mm jack, and the ANC on/off button. There is also some pogo power dots just in case you get the charging station. On the right side, you have the volume controls, mute/activate button, retractable boom mic as well as a big button on the side specifically made for MS Teams call features. Basically, you can control everything directly from the headset itself, which is handy.
Being that this are supposed to cover all the bases, there are several ways to connect them to your device(s). You can use Bluetooth 5.0, USB-A dongle, USB-C to USB-A cord, and with a 3.5mm analog. I ended up using the Bluetooth connection the most on my work PC. I did not experience any lag, drops, or connectivity issues -and I used them exclusively for a least a full work week, 8 hours a day. I had no complaints from anyone during conferencing or calls. That is the least I can expect from such a premium headset.
Since I wore them for hours at a time, I felt that they were very comfortable for the most part. I did have to adjust the headband a few times as it did cause some fatigue and slight discomfort on the top of my head after a while. The earpads were cool and did not make my ears hot or sweaty. This is a big plus.
The sound quality is decent out of the box. I would not go as far as saying it is audiophile quality, but pleasant. There is a slight emphasis on bass without getting too muddy. The mids are slightly pushed forward (to emphasize voice quality?) and the highs were clear without being piercing. There was good separation and OK soundstage. I would describe it as warm and comfortable. However, the sound can be customized further with the Jabra Sound+ app’s presets and full equalizer. The Evolve2 85s also feature an auto pause feature that if you take even one earcup off, the music will pause. When you put them back on, the music will continue.
Speaking of the Sound+ app, it provides the ability to tailor the ANC with presets called “Moments” as well as updating, and relaxation noises such as “ocean waves”, or “waterfall”. Nice when you just want to relax for a bit when writing those emails.
But what about call quality? Jabra claims that the 10 mics and boom mic are the best in the business. Well, I am happy to report that these headphones did not disappoint. I never had an issue where people could not hear or understand me. My voice came in full, especially when using the boom mic. Some said it was actually better than when using my USB-C dedicated microphone. I also tested the MS Teams features and they worked OK. I did experience some issues with the muting button and the dedicated button with recognizing some settings on the Jabra Direct PC app. By the way, that program is not as helpful as the mobile version, but it did not negatively affect my work experience. There is also a red light that comes on when you are on a call, which is nice for when I go back to my office. So far, while there were some ANC on/off weird issues, I am pleased with the functionality and consistency.
One great feature is the battery life. It is supposed to last for at least 37 hours. Once fully charged, I did not have to charge them again in a full work week. I even had 28% left for the weekend! Great Job Jabra.
The Evolve2 85s are certainly a premium headset, but are they worth the premium price tag? That depends. If you are looking for casual noise cancelling headphones with decent sound, good call quality, and some features, these are not for you. You can get the same or better listening experience with much less expensive headsets. However, if you are a professional that appreciates robust features and options, good sound, depends on web conferencing, multi-connectivity, call quality and reliability, and want to always stay connected and available -even when traveling, these may just be worth it.

FAST FACTS:

DETAILED REVIEW:
Jabra's Evolve2 85 headphones are very nicely made and feel robust and high quality. The headband is densely padded as are the ear cups. The overall feel is premium... except for the plastics used at the hinge of the ear cups. That plastic feels a bit brittle and cheap. The included hard shell case is a nice touch and the headphones fold down compactly inside.
Connecting the headphones to your devices is straightforward. For my iMac I connected it using the included USB-A dongle and for my iPhone I used Bluetooth. Using the dongle on your computer instead of a direct Bluetooth connection allows you to download the companion software to your computer to tailor the headset. The software is easy to use and offers high customization levels. I am able to have the Jabra connect to both my iPhone and iMac simultaneously and switch between the two seamlessly. That way I can listen to my music and take personal call on my iPhone and take business calls and meetings on my iMac. Since I've been working from home, this has been great.
Speaking of working from home, the Jabra's active noise reduction is also excellent and allows me to effectively drown out the sounds of my toddler playing and the television, so I can concentrate. It also does a great job removing sounds like fans and refrigerators.
Sound quality is excellent, especially for a brand not necessarily associated with audio. I listened to a wide variety of musical genres, from pop, to classical, to country, to jazz, and all of them sounded great. Bass was strong, but not overwhelming. Vocals were warm and pleasant. Instruments were nicely isolated and the sound stage was wide. They don't sound quite as nice as my Dali headphones, but they give the Sony and Shure headphones a run for their money. I also use them to listen to podcasts and they work great for that as well.
Call quality is great. I can hear the caller clearly as can they me, even in less than ideal environments. They headphones also work well when using computer based call / meeting software such as GoToConnect. I love the fact that you can answer calls and mute yourself by raising and lowering the boom mic.
They are very comfortable. I can wear them for hours with little fatigue or pressure on my head. They do not interfere with my glasses and the ear cups rest on top of the glass's frames nicely.
Battery life is excellent and I only charge them every week or so despite using them for hours a day for five days a week. They charge quickly via USB-C.
All in all... you can't go wrong.

I ordered the Jabra Evolve2 85 MS Wireless Headphones with Link380a, Stereo, Black – Wireless Bluetooth Headset to use for both work and recreation, and this headset does not disappoint. It delivers all around functionality for both calls/meetings, as well as just listening to music and enjoying movies and audio books on my own time. I think that this is a pricey headset, and for a reason. I don't need any other headphones or earbuds now that I've got this one (except for one small set of earbuds for working out.) It covers all my bases. Here are some of my thoughts after using this for some time:
Pros:
- incredibly comfortable to wear for long periods of time, even when I have my glasses on
- I love that the mic can be stowed away for when I just want to use this headset as headphones to listen to music
- crystal clear sound & communication on calls and amazing full audio spectrum for music
- fantastic noise cancellation, with the option to push a button to switch between noise cancellation (great focus and concentration blocking out background noises) and hear through, which is great for when I don't want to take off the headset but want more awareness of my surroundings
- red busy lights on exterior light up to indicate I'm in a meeting, which lets me spouse know not to interrupt or walk around behind my home “meeting” space
- good battery life (I have not tested it beyond 9 hours straight of use, but it is more than enough for the average work day)
- Microsoft Teams variant offers plug & play functionality with MS teams- dedicated MS teams button & no additional features set up required
- with multi-device support & included bluetooth dongle, I can connect to 2 devices at once: phone & pc. I work from home, work for myself, and ALSO have another at-home job that involves accepting phone calls from my phone, and also typed chat calls from my laptop on the same interface (one or the other at a time) and now I can walk around my house and do other things without carrying my devices all over the place for fear of missing an incoming call, as long as I'm wearing the headset in range of my devices- note for clarity: while the headset does connect to 2 devices at a time to receive calls, you cannot be listening to two simultaneous devices at once. So... you can only have the audio from one device at a time. One will be prioritized over the other
- great accessories kit including an in-flight travel adapter, and everything fits into the headphones protective carrying case
Cons:
- although I’ve not had any issues with anyone understanding me on the other end of calls, I don’t think that the sound quality coming from my mic is the best it could be considering the price of this headset and considering how close the microphone is to my mouth when in use, compared to with other headsets and earbuds. I have recorded my voice to the computer using the mic extended, and I don’t know what I was expecting… it was fine, but it didn’t blow me away or make the recorded audio sound like anything special beyond what I’d been using previously
- a bit bulky and not the most attractive headset as far as style goes, if you care about that

I've got a couple of Jabra products, and they impress me with their quality and attention to detail.
It starts at packaging. They come nicely packaged, but not excessively so. Packaging is recycled, and walks you through unboxing and functionality. There is a nice zippered case that the headphones fold up into. The button layout isn't bad, but could use just a bit more labeling on things like the volume buttons. They aren't entirely intuitive, with a column of three buttons, the top and bottoms being volume, while the middle is used for something else.

Pairing was easy, and if you install the app, it will update firmware for you, walk you through all the functionality and allow you to set button and behavior options.
I keep expecting active noise cancellation in a modern, high end product like this to really silence the background. I'd say it does if you are already listening to something with a little volume, but it doesn't really 100% silence the background if you just want to silence the world and have some quiet. That said, it takes things down about 10 notches, which is enough to stop auditory overload if, like me, you are sensitive to having multiple streams of auditory input coming at you at once. After trying about five different noise canceling products in the last six months trying to find the best one, this definitely wins on the noise canceling front.

“Jabra Evolve2 85 MS Wireless Headphones with Link380a” is a good headphone but not super excellent in terms of audio quality.
After charing the headphones, I updated the firmware. It took about 15 minutes. The following review is based on the current firmware as of December 12, 2020.
What I liked:
- The accompanying smartphone app is one of the best I have seen. It has equalizer that changes headphones’ responses to different frequencies. Because the equalizer setting is stored in headphones themselves, you can use any music player and still have that effect. Not to mention, you can also adjust the strength of active noise cancellation, etc. This app has so many features, and they actually work.
- It has physical buttons for volume up/down and play/pause.
- Like Bose Quiet Comfort, it can connect to two devices at the same time.
- Long battery life and quick charging.

I'm not a pro, and I don't know that much about headphones. It's going to take me awhile to figure out all the features. For now, I have them linked to just one device. What I like is that these Jabra Evolve2 85 MS Wireless Headphones with Link380a, Stereo were quick to set up and they are comfortable to wear. The noise cancellation is terrific. I've tried a lot of headphones and earphones (I don't like the tiny earbuds), but none of them feel right. So far, these feel fine. I've been able to wear them for hours without discomfort. That's enough right there. If I never use them to answer calls or do anything more, I'll already be happy.
I did struggle to locate the little USB connector. That small pocket holding it was a safe place for it, but I didn't notice it for a while. I also ordered the wrong one, so it's good that I have a USB-C to USB-A plug. I usually catch that, since it's prevented me from ordering so many other things. I already had a couple of the adapters in the house, knowing the need would arise at some point.
So, I'll keep playing with these and learn how to use more features. I am not someone who wears headphones non-stop, so I'm less worried about the battery life. I use them when other family members are trying to do work nearby. Two of them are working from home while I'm busy with my own activities. For now, I'm very happy with these headphones. They're the first really nice ones that I've ever had.

TL;DR:
Was on the fence about jabra evolve2 85 vs Sony wh 1000xm4 vs bose 700. Glad I bought this one.
Disclaimer: I've tested the Sony and bose for a day each and decided to return those and get the jabra. I've only been using the evolve2 85 for a week thus far.
Details:
Sound quality: Noise cancelling is on par with the sony and bose. With music on at 40% volume + ANC ON - I can't hear someone speaking infront of me. The bass and mids aren't as great on the jabra as the sony but I personally find it comparable to the bose.
Microphone: Hands down the best amongst the 3 with the boom mic. I primarily needed a new pair of headphones for work meetings and the jabra did not disappoint. Comparing mic quality it goes:
With the Boom mic the mic quality is slightly better than the iPhone mic (when you're holding the phone up to your ear).
Without the boom mic the mic quality is worse than the iPhone mic (when you're holding the phone up to your ear) BUT better than the iPhone mic when on speaker phone.
I would recommend for those looking for heavy usage in work meetings.
Comfort: I think this is the area that they can improve on. The earcups are a little too small for my taste. Of the 3, I think the Sony's were the most comfortable and the jabra was the least. That being said, by no means is the jabra uncomfortable (the sony and the bose are just more comfortable).

I purchased these intending to use them as a primary headset for my work (everything from calls to video editing). They work great for calls, very comfortable... although the mic boom has to be put down to actually use it for things like TEAMS (mic on headset is only an option for phone connections).
Where this falls short is the PC Audio link. there's a 2 second delay any time an audio stream is interrupted... so if you do video editing, any time you have a cut in your stream, you cannot hear the first 2 seconds of the next clip. I've contacted the manufacturer to see if they have a solution (force active audio connection for PC Audio, or extend delay before connection is dropped).. they say no. this seems quite odd given that I'm connecting through their LINK card, which is supposed to be like a sound card for the computer itself... the programmed delay before dropping a PC audio connection should be something they can control.
Will try for a few more days, see if I can manage other workarounds without having to always have music in the background to keep the connection active. if not, it will be going back.

After buying/returning many different gaming headsets I finally began to look at the professional headphone market to see if there were any that would suit my needs. I was looking for a headset that could connect to multiple devices, as well as a dedicated microphone. Most importantly though, the device needed to have dedicated 2.4GHz wireless support. I was under the impression that the receiver for the UC model was a dedicated 2.4GHz receiver, but it is in fact a simple Bluetooth receiver. This is a problem because with Bluetooth technology sound quality immensely suffers when using a microphone. This means that if you sit in a discord call chatting with friends, the sound quality is worse than those $5 buds you got 10 years ago with your phone. Not impressive for a $500 headset, scratch that, $680 CAD headset full price. Another problem that comes with Bluetooth is bad latency, its about a 1-2 second delay when play/pausing music, I won't bother explaining how horrible that is for gaming of any sort. For reference Bluetooth runs on 2.45GHz.
Apart from this glaring issue, the headset is comfortable. The boom mic, while people say its designed horribly, is actually designed excellently. It may be fragile, but if you can afford this headset, you're not toying around with it.

I've used many, many brands of headphones because my husband collects them. These headphones weren't really my favourite in terms of design and sound quality. I found the quality was pretty fair, but I had expected more for the price. The sound cancellation was also lacking for me. Especially for calls I do wish the noise cancelling was better. As other people have said it's quite a large design physically. It's large and heavy. Wearing then for a long period of time does bother my head and neck. Overall I'm giving it a 3 out of 5 because I find the headphones lacking overall for the price.

First things first, these are not worth $450. They don't feel premium, but rather cheap plastic. I'm particularly nervous about the longevity of the boom mic. There's some nice features, like the auto pause of music, ability to pause/mute when taking the headphones off, and the busy light. But if you're spending $450 just for those features, I'd think you'd need to consider what you really feel is important in a headset.
I bought these solely for work since I generally spend 6+ hours a day on calls. The call quality is a bit above average, but does not cause anyone to say "wow, you sound so good!". It's better than other mics, but not by any significant margin.
Sound-wise they are decent. They are not as good as Sony or Bose, but they do an OK job. The Sound+ app equalizer is helpful to find the right balance. But I wouldn't recommend buying these for any sort of audiophile listening experience. ANC is OK. You can still hear some noises at certain frequencies but it's not bad ANC.
Comfort, these do fairly decent. I like how they cup over the ear. They take a little (i.e. 2-3 days) to get used to the pressure, but then are fairly comfortable to wear for longer periods. Not awesome as the Bose QuietComfort by any means, but they get the job done.
So, they do OK on call quality, OK on sound for music and listening, and OK on comfort. Bottom line is that I would not recommend these for $450. If they were around the $300, then I may say it might be worth it. At this price point, I would expect at a minimum a premium call experience and they just don't deliver as much as their marketing department would lead you to believe which is sad. I'd strongly consider the Sony WH-1000XM4 over these, even though the Sony's don't have a boom mic. They offer as good a call experience, a significantly better audio listening experience, and are $100 cheaper.

I am impressed. To me, the Jabra name has always been connected with the office and phone-only headsets and prior to this, I've had the opportunity to try out one of their headsets that's made for listening to music first and then being used for phone calls as a second option. The first time I used them it was VERY impressive. In the last number of weeks, I've only discovered one thing that's not so great about them. With this headset, the company has definitely entered the world of high-end audio headsets.
I prefer to really use something before writing a review. I don't like reading reviews where someone opens the box, listens to a headset for 5 minutes, and then writes a review, that doesn't help me make a decision.
Listening to tunes:
It doesn't matter what I listen to, pop, jazz, classical, rock, country, and even the odd bit of opera everything sounds crisp, clear, and from the deepest bass to the highest end, it all sounds excellent. In fact, I can't find a single thing to complain about when used for listening to music.
► The Jabra app offers excellent equalization options but I still use the equalizer app I have on my phone in addition to the Jabra app. Even after just pairing and listening to music I didn't need to make any changes, the Jabra app was not yet installed. Once the headset was paired I set the equalizer app to flat so I could get a real understanding of how it was engineered to sound vs. what it might sound like after I make changes.
► I have absolutely no problem comparing this to high-end headsets I already own such as Bose, Sennheiser, Sony, Panasonic, etc.
► This headset provides a very immersive experience, especially with the nice canceling on.
Noise-canceling:
► Since this is an over-the-ear headset the muffs alone do a good job of keeping external noises out. The extremely soft foam used in the muff's form fit the head in the areas around the ears and does an excellent job while not making it feel like there is a vise clamped onto my head.
► The app also has options for noise-canceling which works as well as any I've ever experienced.
Phone calls:
Even with the small fold-down boom mic the microphone still picks up far too much background noise, when used on phone calls the people I'm talking to hear everything! Numerous times while on calls I was asked if I could use something else since the background noise was too distracting. For me, this is really disappointing as I need a headset that can be used for both listening to tunes and phone calls. Switching between to headsets just doesn't make sense. For this reason, the headset only gets a 4-star rating.
► The Jabra app does allow for some call customization but it's only for what I hear, it's called Sidetone - where I hear myself through the headset. When set up to do so I can definitely hear the noise my callers are referring to.
► There is no adjustment for the microphone sensitivity.

I know I have some degradation in both ears and it's not the same so being able to compensate for each ear made a big difference. I can still use the equalizer app I have and do, but the Jabra app still runs to provide the baes experience.
Battery performance:
Jabra claims a 37-hour battery life and in my experience over the last several weeks of use, this is darn accurate. I don't know that I've been able to accurately track each hour but when I don't have to charge it for over two weeks when I use it for a few hours each evening. That means in the last 8 weeks I've only needed to charge it at most four times. This is far better than I've experienced with other big brand name options.
General use:
The buttons can be a little difficult getting used to, after. It took me about a week to find them by feel. The problem is that the plastic cup they are mounted on has a thin edge and I kept feeling for them on the much wider muff.
Storing them:
These are fold-down muffs which makes storing them a little easier even when not using the supplied carry case.
► The swivels used are metal and sturdy, this is not a cheaply constructed headset. And, even though the swivels are metal the whole headset is still light enough to feel comfortable even when wearing it for hours at a time.
If only the headset would be set up so that the microphone provided real noise-canceling this would be a solid 5 stars. Considering how long Jabra has been making phone headsets I really expected them to do a better job in this area.

I've been working from home for several months now. with 85% of my day spent in their meetings or on calls.
The headphones are both comfortable and feature packed, since getting them there has been two firmware updates improving the reliability of them
Battery: I was surprised that Jabra did not inflate the battery numbers as much as most tech companies do. I can easily get two full days of use out of these. And the charge speed allows me to simply plug them in on my lunch if need be.
Sound quality: these are work first headphones so the sounds quality reflects this, the dynamic range is nothing out of the ordinary for higher end headphones but the speech clarity is impressive, especially when the additional "speech" mode is enable via app or software.
Mic quality: The mic quality is quite impressive as long as there is no interference. The boom arm does a good job at reducing background sounds and focusing on your voice, even the earcup microphone is good. In testing i made phone calls while on a street with passing cars the caller was not able to hear the passing cars or able to hear a car rev before the green light. interference wise, depending on your setup, i have noticed if the range of the headphone to the phone/receiver is distant the caller receives a more compressed audio sound, while i was not able to hear a difference in their voice, my voice was not as clear to them.
Comfort; The headphones are heavier, but comfortable. i have larger ears and they do sit over the ears properly still. Depending on your preferences you may find them too heavy to wear all day
App/software; the app and computer software are simple enough to use, apps are done from within the programs and you can change settings such as auto answer or pass through.
The Anc is quite good, and the hear-through is simple enough to use. I generally work with ANC on as it blocks out other sounds. If you are using this for mainly calls, I like to have side tone enables, this feeds you voice into your ear to make it sounds more natural with the ANC on.
Overall these are certainly work first headphones, with music features coming second. The audio quality for average person is excellent and the noise cancelling is on par with other higher end headphones. The retractable boom are makes is possible to switch from work mode to music mode without much work or looking out of place while walking down the street. The headphones essentially replace two different headphones. One high end work one and a mid to high end music headphones. If you need both for life this is a great combination. if you don't need one or the other there are other options out there that allow you to focus on either work or music only, and save a bit of money.

The headphones are both comfortable and feature packed, since getting them there has been two firmware updates improving the reliability of them
Battery: I was surprised that Jabra did not inflate the battery numbers as much as most tech companies do. I can easily get two full days of use out of these. And the charge speed allows me to simply plug them in on my lunch if need be.
Sound quality: these are work first headphones so the sounds quality reflects this, the dynamic range is nothing out of the ordinary for higher end headphones but the speech clarity is impressive, especially when the additional "speech" mode is enable via app or software.
Mic quality: The mic quality is quite impressive as long as there is no interference. The boom arm does a good job at reducing background sounds and focusing on your voice, even the earcup microphone is good. In testing i made phone calls while on a street with passing cars the caller was not able to hear the passing cars or able to hear a car rev before the green light. interference wise, depending on your setup, i have noticed if the range of the headphone to the phone/receiver is distant the caller receives a more compressed audio sound, while i was not able to hear a difference in their voice, my voice was not as clear to them.
Comfort; The headphones are heavier, but comfortable. i have larger ears and they do sit over the ears properly still. Depending on your preferences you may find them too heavy to wear all day
App/software; the app and computer software are simple enough to use, apps are done from within the programs and you can change settings such as auto answer or pass through.

These are amazing headphones that deliver an great user experience. They are light-weight and extremely comfortable, the over-the-ear design allows it to fit perfectly over my ears without causing discomfort, even after hours of use.
The sound quality of the Jabra Evolve2 85 is superb. It has a wide frequency response, with the perfect amount of bass and tremble. Sound played through the headphones is excellent, and calls are crystal clear. The call feature works very well, people can hear me clearly and without distortion. I really like how moving the mic down will answer calls, and the busy light is a great way of informing people that I am on the phone.

First impression: well-made, high quality headphones. The earcups are soft and very well insulated. They block a lot of noise all on their own. The appearance of the headset is a bit lacking – they are VERY bulky and jut out from the head at a harsh angle. These headphones are meant more for the workplace and the appearance reflects that. I don’t expect to see many of these hanging around people’s necks while riding the train or bus.
Sound: Good and somewhat customizable using the Jabra Direct app on the PC. I had to up the bass and mids a bit to get a sound profile I liked.
Noise cancelling: so-so. With Active Noise Cancelling on, it does create a quieter atmosphere, but you can definitely hear outside noises. I can hear my keyboard clacking to a certain extent. Voices will come through but muffled. I find the ANC does a good job of blocking out TV/stereo noises from other rooms and general outside noise that could be otherwise distracting, but it still lets some noise through.
Comfort: These headphones are a bit hefty, but they are well padded and quite comfortable. The earcups are nice and squishy and there’s substantial padding on the headband as well.
Syncing to phone and taking calls: Bluetooth connection to iPhone was fast and fuss-free. Picked up a call no problem by lowering the mic boom. Red lights on the front and back of the headphones light up to show you are ‘busy’ while in a call. At first I was having problems because I didn’t realise the mic boom needs to be lowered and then rotated towards your mouth. If you do not rotate the boom towards your mouth your voice will sound muffled to the caller. Once I sorted that out, my call went forward with no issues and the person on the other end could hear me great.
Syncing to PC and using Zoom: this is the first thing I tried with theses headphones and it was a bit of a challenge. The headphones come with a USB Bluetooth dongle called “Jabra Link 380”. Out of the box the dongle and the headphones are supposed to be linked and it should just be plug and play according to the manual. Not so. The PC recognized the dongle but no connection to the headphones no matter what I tried. On top of that as I was trying to connect there was a lot of snapping noises, popping sounds and volume issues that were really aggravating. If you run into this, you need to download Jabra Direct and run the firmware updates on both the Jabra Link 380 dongle AND the headphones. Then a bunch of disconnecting/reconnecting from the headphones and some PC restarts should do the trick to get things working seamlessly. It was a bit of a frustrating start with a lot of fiddling around, but now that things are running, these headphones really shine. Once everything was running properly all I had to do was open Zoom and the headphones were good to go. Occasionally if there are issues you may need to switch audio output/input to the Jabra headphones both on the PC in general and in Zoom. I didn’t have any issues with this, and my mic test went great. To date I have not had any issues with the mic cutting out or not being heard when using the Jabra headphones.
Smart standby features: I really like this actually. If someone is trying to talk to me while I have music playing through the headphones, I will frequently push one of the ear cups backwards off one ear to talk to them. The headphones detect this and the music pauses. If I take the headphones off and place them down on my desk, the headphones also detect that and the music pauses. I find this feature to be pretty handy and convenient!
Battery life: really good and fast to charge. Lives up to long battery life claims.
Other: the carrying case is good quality and a nice way to keep all the bits and pieces organized, including the little tiny pocket for the Jabra Link 380 dongle so it doesn’t get lost or damaged.

One upside to the current pandemic is it has forced many industries to quickly adopt new technology and make themselves more portable. One of the best decisions that my employer has made recently was implementing Microsoft Teams.
I often find myself in technical discussions for many hours a day, so a nice comfortable headset is exactly what the doctor ordered. These are very comfortable to wear for long periods of time, and have adequate cushioning. The ear cups seal around my ears well, but do not have such huge clamping pressure that it feels like my brain is being squeezed. I have worn these for 5 hours straight without removing them, and I did not have any complaints about sweating or other discomfort.
Setup was very straight-forward. The Jabra Link adapter was instantly recognized by my Windows 10 computer, and within a minute I had my new headphones paired. I was able to set these up with Microsoft Teams and Cisco Jabber easily. The default sound profile sounded good to me, however you are free to adjust your computers equalizer to fine tune your sound.
The one thing I was not super impressed with was the audio quality of the microphone. For a product that was optimized for Microsoft Teams, the audio quality is just okay. I would say it is good, however for an almost $600 pair of headphones I would have expected a bit more detail. My colleagues did not have any complaints about the audio, but these definitely aren't as good as a standalone microphone.

The Jabra Evolve2 85 are marketed as business headsets (for communications) first and foremost and headphones (for music) second.
As a headset, they’re fully featured. They’re also expensive, with a big chunk of the premium likely attributed to the active noise cancellation (I find ANC easily adds at least $100 to the price of any headset/headphones/earbuds).
While this headset can do double duty as headphones, if your primary use is for music, you are better off buying headphones, since it’s quite clear that a significant portion of the cost of this headset went into the communications feature set. A music only set of headphones at the same price will likely put this headset to shame for audio quality.
This particular model has some additional integration with Microsoft Teams, which I was not able to test because Microsoft’s site kept throwing errors when I tried to register. The headset can also integrate with Zoom as well (requires installation of Jabra desktop application).
In terms of the headset, there’s a little pop-out boom microphone which has some nice capabilities, like drop down to answer a call, pop up to mute. There’s a call button on the right ear cup that can be used to answer or hang up a calls, and a “busy” light that works with Teams to let people around you know you’re on an active call.
I found the microphone quality on my PC to be inconsistent depending on what application was used. When I used the Skype test call feature, recorded audio from the microphone sounded much worse on playback than the microphone I have on my desk. When I used tested it with Windows Voice Recorder or Audacity (audio recording software), however, it sounded very good to my ears. It obviously isn’t as good as the cardioid microphone on my desk, which has a large capsule and is drawing power from my computer, but it's pretty good all things considered.
When using the headset with a Windows PC, I found that I had to use the boom mic, even though you’re supposed to be able to use the other microphones on the earcups when the boom is retracted.
The headset itself is very comfortable, and the clamping force is not too strong, which is good for long usage sessions. I did find that prolonged use of the headset made my ears hot, but your mileage may vary. The padding is really comfortable.
The active noise cancellation (ANC) is really good. I’ve never tried Bose or Sony headsets, which are supposed to be best in class for ANC, but compared to my Plantronics BackBeat 2, the Jabra is an order of magnitude better. They do a really good job, although that “sucking” sensation in your ears that ANC tends to create takes getting used to. I have the bad luck of living behind a restaurant with a rickety exhaust fan that sounds like an idling semi, and when I tested it against that racket, it eliminated most of the noise.
In terms of sound quality, it’s very good out of the box, and even better if you install the Desktop or Mobile app, which lets you adjust equalization to suit your tastes. The bass is pretty good, and the overall music sound is excellent.
Wireless range is very good - I was able to go 30 feet without dropouts, and battery life is claimed to be over 30h. This headset comes with a stereo 3.5mm wire (and a dual pin airplane converter) which allows you to use this headset as headphones (the microphones won’t work). Given the flimsiness of the cable and its limitations, it seems obvious to me that it’s a courtesy feature (and not a major feature), given that the primary usage intent for this headset is for wireless usage.
This headset is quite expensive (easily my biggest complaint), but on the other hand, it's designed for people who are going to use them day in and day out at the workplace, and with the feature set offered, I think this is a pretty good headset, despite its quirks and imperfections.

The Jabra Evolve2 are quickly becoming my go-to headphones around the house. They’re extremely comfortable on the ears, the audio quality is great, and they never seem to suffer from connectivity issues. They’re good all-around headphones with only a few small issues (and one big issue that most people probably won’t care about).
The noise cancellation is very easy to use, and has two different options. It’s activated by a button that is set apart from the rest of the controls, making it easy to find. Press it once to activate “hear-through” mode, which allows you to better hear people around you even when you have both headphones on your ears. Pressing it a second time will activate the actual noise cancellation feature, which blocks out pretty much all background noise. It’s extremely effective, and a great option when working in a crowded environment. Even when you're just wearing them, they block out noise so well compared to other over the ear headphones I've used.
Compared to the smaller in-ear bluetooth headphones I use most of the time, the two big differences with the Jabra Evolve2 are the battery life and the audio quality. The battery life is about 37 hours, which is probably a week or more of listening for most people. Some of the default options that are built-in are very useful (bringing down the microphone arm answers a call automatically for example) while others are very frustrating to use. One option I had to turn off right away was the feature that pauses your music when the headphones are taken off your head. This is great in theory but the technology is not accurate, and would often pause anytime I moved my head or stood up. If you hate this feature as much as I did, you will be forced to download the app in order to turn it off, which is a bit of a pain.
The microphone is both very clear and has an interesting design. It can be stored away by folding it up against the right side of the headphones, or you can leave it down if you prefer. It’s very clear for both phone calls and recording, though it isn’t quite as good as a proper standalone microphone. It’s definitely sufficient for work calls and most audio recording.
One of the only major problems I have had with these headphones is an issue I have seen with a lot of Bluetooth headphones. When you first start playing audio, the first second or two will be silent, and only after that will it begin to play normally in your ears. For someone listening to music this might not be a big issue, as it only happens when you pause and then start audio. But if you’re listening to something that requires you to listen very carefully (editing audio for example) this can be a very frustrating issue to deal with. Not all Bluetooth headphones suffer from this, and I’m very surprised that these are having that same issue. Considering the price, this might be a deal-breaker for some people. If you need headphones for video or audio editing you definitely want to look elsewhere.
It's obvious these are designed for people who work from home, probably in a customer-based, or meeting heavy industry. Between the long battery life, comfort, ANC and cool and easy to use microphone, these are ideal for anyone who needs headphones for the whole work day. If your field needs audio editing, these won't be for you, but for other at-home workers, these are a slam-dunk.
The noise cancellation is very easy to use, and has two different options. It’s activated by a button that is set apart from the rest of the controls, making it easy to find. Press it once to activate “hear-through” mode, which allows you to better hear people around you even when you have both headphones on your ears. Pressing it a second time will activate the actual noise cancellation feature, which blocks out pretty much all background noise. It’s extremely effective, and a great option when working in a crowded environment. Even when you're just wearing them, they block out noise so well compared to other over the ear headphones I've used.
Compared to the smaller in-ear bluetooth headphones I use most of the time, the two big differences with the Jabra Evolve2 are the battery life and the audio quality. The battery life is about 37 hours, which is probably a week or more of listening for most people. ➔ The Jabra Evolve2 85 MS Wireless Headphones offers a premium unboxing experience - a gorgeous carry care, audio and charging cable, along with a USB A and flight adapter. The headset is built tough and feels extremely high quality in the hands and in my opinion, better than the latest Sony and Bose NC headphones, which I have both handled (Sony XM's over-ear NC are my daily drivers for comparison).
➔ I tested this Jabra headset for 5-days straight during a 40-hour workweek, as we utilize MS Teams all throughout the day for meetings and sometimes Zoom calls with our existing clients. One thing I noticed immediately was the microphone quality and even receiving compliments on the clarity from my co-workers. I have quite a wide variety of mid-high price headphones/headsets and this Jabra model is by far the best call quality out of all of them.
The noise cancellation works exceptionally well - to compare, the Sony NC XM's are better (but Sony's microphone is garbage); the Bose QC35's slightly beat it. I would place the Jabra at third place, but it's very close and you would only notice the difference by using all 3 headphones in a row, which I did for the purpose of this review.
Throughout my usage, I had zero connectivity issues - no lag, no disconnects, everything worked perfectly.
➔ The downside is the size of the earcups - I'm a 6'4" guy with a fairly large head; I found the earcups to okay, but after prolonged usage, I would sometimes take small breaks. To compare, the Bose QC35 I can keep on my head for 8 hours and I would often forget I even have them on due to the lightness and massive earcups that can accommodate everyone. The Sony XM3's require breaks because the earpads are not thick enough and the ears touch the inner speaker area. In ranking order, the Jabra would be almost tied with the Sony's - both have flaw in the comfort department for long term usage.

Very impressed with this headset, very comfortable, good external sound suppression. The battery lasts a very long time. So far I haven’t used the microphone or the associated controls but as Jabra has been in the phone headset business for quite some time I’m sure it is a joy to use.
The unit comes in a heavy weight box with controls/features illustrated. I thought the Bluetooth dongle (standard USB sized) was missing, I looked in the included storage case several times till I finally noticed a little tab of ribbon, pulled it and there was the dongle.
I love this headset and I plan to find out if it can be used wirelessly with my ham radio transceiver. The only real negative I can think of is that there is no place to safely store the dongle, I’d like to see a compartment on the headband or if there is room in one of the ear cups would be great.
