I went from a i7 4770k to this. AND WOW. It doesn't even sweat at anything I throw at it.
Always been a intel fanboy, and they haven't disappointed me yet. THIS PUPPY IS A MONSTER!

Great cpu performs well but runs hotter. I have a good aio and it runs about 5 to 10 Celcius hotter than 9700k.

Works Great!

It's been roughly 6-7 years since I last build my gaming computer. Upgrading to this has been more than significant. As of this writing, I hope you've done your research the I7-12700k's price point and its competition. For this price point, it may be the top dog.

Some things to consider before purchasing:
1) Make sure you are purchasing a LGA 1700 motherboard. I went with the DDR4 motherboard because DDR5 is still at its infancy. The DDR5 ram may not be the best option for your buck right now. You'll be fine with DDR4.
2) This CPU does consume a lot more power compared to its predecessor. Double check if your PSU will be enough. There are online resources that will help you calculate your PSU. It's always good to have a little overhead.
3) Make sure your heatsink has retrofit screws that's compatible with this motherboard. You can purchase them separately. If you have a heatsink that's very old (<2016), it's more than likely it may not be compatible.

Smoking fast!

Upgraded my gaming PC from an old i7-6700k and this thing is FAST! It does run pretty hot though, so make sure your cpu cooler is up to the task and you have good airflow in your case. Bonus feature: Doubles as a space heater in the cooler months!

Chose this processor over an i9 and it is Simply one of the best processor I have ever owned.. this cpu is a beast and super easy to overclock. I would recommend this one to anyone who wants power on a budget!

Volevo dare 5 stelle perché il processore è sulla carta eccellemte e anche dei benchmark. Mi risulta però che si ferma al. 90 percento come se avesse un incompatibilità con la mia asus z690 a gaming. Ancora non ho ben capito quindi do 4 stelle.
Nonostante quwtso piccolo limite mi va il 40 percento di più rispetto a un 11 gen.
Quindi soddisfatto.
Temperature alte se non usate un raffreddamento a liquido.
Io uso un corsair h100 che è molto potente.
Valutate un raffreddamento a liquido per quetso processore

Ridiculously fast

I've had this overclocked at 5.0 GHz for a couple weeks now and it hasn't skipped a beat. I bought an MSI Z690 MPG Edge Motherboard to pair with this beast of a chip. Keep in mind, it does NOT come with a cooler so make sure you have a reputable thermal paste and a solid cooler to pair with this. I have a pre-filled watercooler (Corsair Hydro Series H115i Pro) which is giving me temps idle as low as 19°C (not joking, look at the picture). Under full load, I have yet to hit over 50°C even gaming at 1440p (2k resolution). If I'm being quite honest, this CPU is overkill for gaming. If you have the extra money, go for it. If not, a i5-12600k will be just as powerful for less money.

really amazing 100% CPU, 98% ram[32gb] and PC still running smooth
eSport games will works without problem, with backgrounds programs

if u are running one app each time skip this
if not and pc is the main part of ur work, u might want to consider this
especially in this time of competition and price are dropping
Zen4 might be winner for year or 2 before Intel come back

No issues

Just got this installed and running with ddr5 dual channel kingston 5600 64gb ram with xmp on a z660i asus board and no instabilities or random shutoffs. Booted first try with no problems, though it took a couple seconds longer to boot when I enabled xmp but went back to normal after that first boot. I will wait a couple months and do a follow up if anything happens but so far its good.

Great Processor

After reading reviews of the I9-12900k, this seems like a better choice to me regardless of price. I am seeing very little difference in single threaded benchmarks, and maybe 15-18% faster multi threaded performance on the I9-12900k. But that comes at the price of using a lot more power and hitting over 90 degrees Celsius in some cases on temperatures when stress testing. While I don't normally overclock my system, I bet you could likely hit those performance numbers with an overclock on the 12700K if you really wanted to.

Работает быстрее, чем threadripper первого поколения, и в него встроена графика, которая помогла с устранением неполадок в моей сборке. Общее качество игрового процесса при разрешении 1440p с выделенной графикой. И мог бы справиться с майнкрафтом без него и без модов в разрешении 1080p.

Very fast at a good price point. Upgraded from i7 series 9. Twice as fast as the previous CPU, when using my astronomy image processing software.
Easy to overclock. Pushed it to 5.2GHz with no effort.

Great CPU for gaming and multitasking

Great CPU so far. Only limiting this CPU at the moment is the early versions of Z690 motherboard software that might not be overclocking at optimal levels (using auto overclock). Make sure you have a good CPU cooler or a cooler designed for the LGA 1700. Currently the Gigabyte settings for overclocking (bios or windows app) is pushing the CPU above spec and will cause throttling. I am using a Corsair H150i Elite CAPELLIX 360mm.

Amazon delivery was late even with paying for the express option at check out

Absolute monster

Ridiculously easy to overclock and runs stable. AMD processors in the past, I've had to fumble with the settings for a long time till I got it right. With this CPU, everything just worked and no additional configuration required. I paired this with the Asus TUF Gaming Z-690 Plus Wifi D4 motherboard and they pair nicely. I picked this board cause of the DDR4 support and it runs perfectly. Only complaint I have is that it uses a lot of power.

Very surprised at how good this actually is.

I’ve never been and mad or intel fanboy. I’ve always gone for that’s the best bang for your buck… or what performs the best at a reasonable price. For the first time sense Ryzen I’m surprised to say intel is cheaper and light years ahead of its competitors with the 12700k.

If you're thinking about it and you have a 7700k or earlier, just do it; it's time..... Almost 50-100% increase in fps in all games and can play some games I couldn't before.... Get an LGA1700 360mm radiator for super cool temps... And get a DDR5 and PCIe 5.0 board for God's sake lol don't get DDR4 like a clown

Nice cpu, bad packaging

Fast smooth and runs cool with DeepCool AS500 PLUS at stock without any problem, very pleased with this processor.

*My complaint is with packaging, no padding or protection a all!!! i talked to amazon associate before it was shipped to do something about packaging because all my last orders came without any protection and sadly this 400$ cpu didn't come with any protection at all.*

Surprisingly efficient due to mix of large/small cores

I need a new PC mainly to process photos. I was considering AMD Ryzen 7 5800X when I read the benchmark for Intel's 12th generation CPUs are better than the 5800X running Adobe software. But it has a bad reputation for hogging power. The attached screen shot shows that power consumption slightly exceed the TDP of 125W during Lightroom batch export. But to my surprise, once the export is finished, power consumption is very low, even less than my AMD 4800H based laptop. Background processing uses the more efficient E-cores.

Fantastic CPU for $$$

This is a great CPU for the money. Sure you can spend more, but it's easy to overclock and runs great. The built-in GPU is... meh. Good for work, not games. But it's cool that it's built in, because if you ever have a problem with your GPU this is a backup. LOVE IT!

Great CPU for all around workstation/gaming. A power beast!

Definitely be sure to have adequate cooling on this beast - even with a moderate overclock you're quickly drawing a ton of power and making a ton of heat! Great value for money if you need the horsepower for CAD, photo/video work and gaming.

Intel has made it!

Upgraded from an i5-7500. Have been considering whether should go for AMD or Intel for this upgrade and finally decided to give an Intel a try after reading the positive reviews of the Alder Lake.

The installation is smooth and the CPU is stable and fast, at least doubles the speed of the old i5-7500. Heat is not a problem at all, always below 40C.

Only complaint is it does not come up with a cooler like AMD and you have to pay for another one.

Best Intel CPU per dollar in a very, very long time.

The last time I was this happy with an Intel CPU in terms of performance-per-dollar was the 4770K.

This is a wonderful CPU for gaming and general productivity at the same time, and an incredible value if you can get it below $380.

Don't buy if you're a first timer

I'm a first time builder, and I'm working with this CPU, it overheat 3 times in bios when i first started out. Overheats on cinebench and some games that push it to about 40% CPU usage. There are work arounds but as a first time builder i would have preferred to not have to deal with that. Nevertheless, at least I've experienced dealing with a chip that runs very hot.

très bon processeur

je quitte un i7 6700k (6eme gén) qui avait fait son taf pour le nouveau i7 12700k et la c'est le jour et la nuit.
couplé à une CM ASUS ROG STRIX Z690 et au refroidissement ROG RYUJIN II 360.
il répond à mes attentes, j'ai hésité entre le i5 12600k et celui ci, je ne regrette pas mon achat.
coté AMAZON, rien a dire commandé le mardi pour une réception 48h après, le jeudi.

Definitely worth the upgrade

Upgraded from an i5 7500 to the 12700k. Definitely worth it, pairing it with a GTX 1070ti and the extra cores definitely help in a lot of games.

Im sure it will be future proof for years to come, so if you're still sitting on the fence about buying one i hope this helps 😊
