To install this device you need to use a 50 amp breaker. I was unable to properly secure the 14 AWG wires to the 50 ampere circuit breaker because wire gauge was too small for the breaker terminal screws which are designed for 6 AWG wiring. I had to tin the two wires and make a solder loop to increase the size of the wires that would allow me to secure properly them to the 50 ampere circuit breaker terminals. Can a 14 AWG wire be installed using a 50 ampere circuit breaker? Yes. The connecting wires do not carry load current. Instead, they carry only short-duration currents that are associated with a transient event.

I've been wanting to install a whole house protector for awhile. Looking through all the reviews online, this model comes as the best overall deal, and it's universal since it connects to any 50A breaker.
The install is very simple. 2 wires into a dual pole breaker, 1 wire to ground, 1 wire to neutral.
The breaker, while others recommend placing as close to the main in line, can go anywhere in the panel. Surges will always look for the shortest way to ground, so it's unlikely you have anything closer than the surge protector. It's more important to keep the wires from the protector as short and kink free as possible.
The 2 green LEDs ensure it's easy to check if the protector needs to be replaced.
Only time will tell how effective it is, but with the 108kA rating, it gives some peace of mind.

Eaton is a Top notch product.
Well made. I highly recommend it for ANY household.
Two important things to consider:
1- I had a Master electrician install it.
2- The white wire is short . You will need a longer one depending where the surge protector is installed on the electrical panel.
A MUST if you want to protect your appliances.

Good instructions. If you are familiar with working in a breaker panel and prepared it should take less than an hour to install. 4 wires 2 hot with a neutral and ground.
Wires were too short to mount below my my 200amp panel and reach up to a 2 pole breaker at top of panel as recommended.
I just installed a rectangular junction box between the panel and surge protector.
May never know if it does its job unless the indicator lights go out or it fries with power still working in the house.

The Eaton surge protector is easy to install, but you will also require a 50 A double pole breaker (usually around $55) to complete the installation. Best installed by an electrician. A good idea if you live in a rural area and are subject to power outages. The current spikes can damage electronic equipment, including stoves, fridges, and microwaves, and this helps to eliminate them.

It looks like it is working as expected but no way to test unless there is a large surge. I did get the proper 50 amp 2 pole breaker for my panel as outlined in manual which is probably important if you are purchasing one.

Received promptly and complete. I'd done my research, so knew what to expect and wasn't disappointed. Installation was quick and easy. Now we have some satisfaction that our sensitive home appliances and electronics are protected from nasty surges! I've layered them with both protection at the panel (type 2) and at the plug (type 3) - its the most I can do. Fingers Crossed!

As advertised, was received promptly and was a good price. I found it easy to install. Hard to say how well it works until there's an actual incident where it's required.
