i'm still pretty happy with the band - but OMG it just gives up when it overheats in direct sunlight. - im in northern england - but even in the north there is enough sun for it just to give up the ghost - shut down and die until you cool it down.
i cycle, and on rides in the sun it's not been uncommon to get back home with a dead band. just thought i'd mention it.
the original review:-
Having tried the expensive fitbit and returned the HETP band, it's refreshing to have something that works pretty well for a reasonable price. i didnt find any of the issues described in some of the poor reviews of this band, the app was easy to install on my galaxy and syncs well with the device. there are plenty of features and it seems as least as accurate as others and better than some i have used for a much greater price.
I was mostly interested in my heart rate, which seems accurate, and got many more features, blood o2, stress, health, workout.
it is still a bit focused on steps, but i can still use it on my indoor cycle trainer, unlike some and it's battery performance is very good indeed.
- it's cheap - I got it on offer for around £36.
- comfortable to wear day and night
- battery lasts 1 week (take that apple watch)
- it doesn't try to do anything you can already do on your phone - just sticks to the stuff you can only do with a combination of phone and watch.
So you can't take calls on it or has it's own GPS, or write texts or talk to Siri because you can already do that on you expensive phone. But it does show notifications, counts steps, constant heart rate monitoring, O2 saturation levels and all the workout tracking you need. It even knows how well you sleep. Very nice and intuitive display with lots of watch faces. It even turns into a torch when you're alone in the dark.
This seems to do everything I want for the price. I didn’t want a full smart watch with a subscription, as I own a collection of Rolex watches, which I still like to wear.
So at this price point it’s perfect. I don’t bother with sleep tracking, although it does work well and accurate.
I get alerted when I get calls and messages. I don’t care that I can’t really answer calls or send messages from my wrist.
The battery life is fine, some people complain about it not lasting the 10/14 days it’s advertised. I think mine would last about 7 days. Then again I am very active I burn about 1,200 calories a day. So I wouldn’t expect the battery to last for weeks..
I am going to buy one for my wife, I as I think it’s a great bit of tech!!
NOW:
Bluetooth is pretty much perfect
Sharp, clear screen
Comfortable strap
Excellent battery life - looks like it'll last 10 days at least.
More than enough daily monitoring of my activities for my purposes - steps / pulse / blood oxygen / sleep / stress (not used this) / various workout options
The sleep app is ok but I don't think overly accurate.
I've not used some of the functions so can't comment on their accuracy but the step count is definitely not accurate and very much under counts the steps.
I like the variety of screen choices, battery life is good and for the price I'm pleased with the product.
Firsty it looks good, very feminine in pink.
The heart rate is fairly reliable so long as it is under 120bpm. However above this it gets a bit crazy at times.
Basically if your afib is playing up this watch can't cope. Wife was 135bpm sitting and watch was coming up with 80-90.
Im sure it would be more accurate if the pulse was stronger etc. So if you have a heart condition don't solely rely on the reading.
It always picks up on messages etc. It's basically like a small extension of your phone notifications etc.
Once useful thing is being able to skip tracks in the car via Bluetooth.
Secondly it was had to be send back to Huawei to be repaired 2 times in 3 months. Once because it kept randomly resetting and once because the button stopped functioning.
We swim lots and im wondering if it is truly 5atm waterproof..
Pool swimming it counts extra lengths if you change stroke during the length and sometimes as you turn it thinks you've done a length in less than 4 seconds and then done another length. It's easy to get big numbers but it's inconsistent. Don't move your arms - no lengths.
There have been reports, and I've seen one, of it getting stuck in a boot loop and becoming unusable.
However, I found the heart rate was occasionally wrong, my HR would be about 55-60 and it would say 88, this happened quite often, then it would jump back to 55-60/a more accurate reading
So it’s good for monitoring but it’s not the most reliable thing in the world, the SpO2 constant reading option works great and is constant except when exercising - usually accurate I imagine but never tested/compared it as I don’t have any other SpO2 reading devices but I reckon it’s accurate
The sleep tracking is accurate mostly, around 80-90% accurate and the readings are insightful about your sleep quality and gives tips etc so that’s a good feature. The stand up and walk around when sitting for too long over an hour option is also good
Notification alerts are good and can pick up the phone from your watch, can’t reply to texts on it can only read text notifications which is a good feature for the price I didn’t expect to be able to reply to texts etc.
Quite frustrating that music control is only available on Android devices, as this isn’t marketed as such… having an iPhone I was expecting to be able to
Overall good watch for the price and gets the job done, but I found myself not using it much and the readings where what I wanted it most for and they just weren’t accurate enough for me, so I returned it, if you’re looking for a basic general function smart watch however, it will likely serve you well
