great features but missing something
Alot of people have complained that the corkscrew is too short. It's the same size as the one on my swiss army knife. Because of that this corkscrew takes a little finesse. To prevent breaking a cork with any of these knives you need to get the corkscrew seated all the way into the cork. With this one you have two choices. 1. Fully seat it and use brute strength to pull the cork out enough to use the lever arm OR 2. Insert the corkscrew until you can just use the lever arm. Pull the cork up enough to fully seat the screw and reengage the arm and finish.

It's a great knife because of it's compact size and features however that compact size makes it easy to lose in a bag. A lanyard ring to attach it to a key snap in your pocket or bag and a slightly longer corkscrew would've made this five star

Плохо

An Excellent Design that Under Delivers
When you first open the clamshell pack holding the Armbar Cork, prepare to be disappointed. The fit and finish are just "ok" and the "mystery" stainless steel has a stonewash finish that is just one step away from the stock finish on the sheet steel the parts are stamped from. None of the fit and finish of a similarly priced Victorinox SAK is present here.

If you can get past that, the knife has its merits. It also has it's limitations. Many reviews of this product included caveats like, "I'm not a wine drinker so I didn't try the corkscrew", and "the can opener looks like it should work". I have tried every tool for its intended purpose.

In the "plus" category:

1. The knife blade is a great shape and was very sharp right from the factory. The locking mechanism had no play and the knife felt good in the hand.

2. The cap lifter is better than average.

In the "minus" category:

1. The scissors are below par. They are plenty sharp but the grind is so shallow that it takes a lot of force to cut through even very thin cardboard. Also, the pivot point maximizes the cutting area at the expense of leverage. We know how to create good scissors for a folding knife. Gerber didn't bother to apply those lessons here.

2. Folding knives have had can openers for about 100 years. This can opener is state of the art for depression-era America. 90 years later we have far better designs. This tool has great leverage and needs it because you are pushing an almost flat cut 1/16 inch milled piece of metal through a metal can. It works but just barely.

In the "ok" category:

The corkscrew works on corks that are willing to come out of their bottles. It is short and risks mangling a "stuck" cork. Also, the leverage arm protrudes over the lip of the bottle and gets in the way of the cork's movement on some wine bottles. The foil cutter is awkward to use. On the whole, better than a SAK corkscrew without any lever but far short of a purpose-built waiter's corkscrew.

I'll keep this knife but I already know it's not a "legacy" product. In all likelihood, it will slip from my pocket and get caught between the cushions of the car seat. I'll forget about it and sell the car and never stop to wonder what happened to that Armbar I had. It's well worth roughly half what I paid for it. This is a bit more than a "near miss" for Gerber.
