I had an original vivofit for several years. It worked well. I had to change the batteries maybe three times. After the last time, the app continued to tell me the batteries were low. That, plus the fact that one cell of the screen had died, made me decide it was time to replace it. I should have gotten another vivofit but I was dumb and thought this newer model, for less money, would be better. It most definitely is NOT.
I received my vivofit 4 on August 19th. About 5 weeks later it started losing time and a triangle warning emblem would pop up randomly on the screen. I consulted the manual and it appeared to indicate that I needed new batteries. I thought that was odd since they weren't supposed to be used up that quickly but I thought maybe it'd been sitting in the warehouse with these batteries for a while before it was shipped to me. After searching all over town with no luck, I ordered new batteries here on Amazon. It's now December 12th and for the past week and a half my vivofit 4 has been losing time, flashing up the triangle, etc. So in less than 3 months this piece of crap has needed TWO battery changes. The claim of a year of battery life is complete BS.
This device also will not connect with your Garmin heart-rate monitor. I foolishly assumed it would because the older model did. That's on me for not digging into the fine print enough, but it is one more reason why I'm regretting not just ordering a new vivofit. I would highly recommend that you learn from my error and go get the original vivofit. So what if it won't beep at you when the move bar comes up - it will do everything else so much better than this thing!

I had a Vivofit 2 before and that served me for about six years beautifully. But when part of the number on the screen stopped being displayed, I decided on going for an upgrade - Vivofit 4. Boy was I wrong.

The Vivofit 4 seemed like a good choice at the time because it advertised a long battery life and simple design. After two weeks of wearing the device, it started to give me problems. The button would not respond immediately, then that got worse. One night, the watch kept waking me up to say congrats on doing an activity for zero distance. What? By the next morning, the Garmin Connect app was showing me a ton of activity for my review! Now, four weeks in, the whole thing is dead.

I am definately disappointed with how this purchase has turned out to be a pain. I am an international customer and therefore, have to think thrice about having this shipped back to the USA at my cost.

I reached out to Garmin and must say that I am pleased with their response. They quickly arranged for me to get a replacement and deactivated the previous Vivofit 4 (but it already died anyway), while I waited for the delivery. So far, so good. I will check back after having the replacement for awhile. Great customer service, so for now I moved the rating from one to three.

What I liked was the battery life. 1+ years and then change the battery. Perfect. That was what moved me to buy it. The watch itself keeps accurate time but there is no heart rate monitor although I have a pulse-ox so that was not a deal breaker.
The step tracker was abysmal. I have counted the steps that I take in a measured mile because I need to get a life. But I have counted roughly 2,000 steps and previous step trackers were right in the ball park. The Garmin, however, gave me anywhere between 3,000 and 3,500 steps per mile no matter how I tried to adjust stride length, etc. in the app. I gave it to a friend of mine who is far more savvy around computer related things than I am.
I would not buy another Garmin smart watch. I would rather spend less money on what I have now (name withheld, look for my other review) which costs less and has an accurate step tracker and heart rate monitor.

Upon buying, I was hesitant due to some bad reviews. However I can say that this is so much better than the fitbit charge 2 which I had previously but broke. You can personalise it more. Plus it stays on the screen I want it on. Fitbit used to go back to the beginning so I'd have to cycle through for my quick stats. Love the fact that there's a bar under the time which fills up as you progress on your step target. I also like how you can change the screen to how many steps you have left to do instead of how many you have done something which fitbit doesn't have. It's lightweight and nice looking. The only thing it lacks is HR. I'm not fussed about it though. I'd say you'd only need heart rate if you need it medically or are a full on gym gooer in which case most fitness machines at the gym have heart rate trackers on them anyway. All in all great purchase

Having owned a Vivofit 1 for years, I thought I treat myself to a newer version - what a mistake!!!

I do like the look of the Vivofit 4 - it is smaller and the wristband is nice. What I originally liked in the pictures was the watch face.
I feel very disappointed as the clear pictures were taken with the backlight ON. You have to press the button for this and without
the back light half the watch faces aren't usable as they are too dark without it.
My next gripe is that the tracker is advertised to 'recognise' common activities. This only worked for me for running. When at an exercise class it registered as swimming and didn't acknowledge any steps or calories.

It doesn't state clearly that this is the first and only Vivofit version that doesn't connect to the HR strap anymore - what a total shame as all my
calories burnt are now WAY BELOW what I normally burn. When the unit started playing up with more problems, I contacted Garmin customer service.

Their replies took a week for each query by which time it was too late to return the unit to Amazon! Garmin does not offer a refund if the tracker was bought somewhere else apart from Garmin directly.
I questioned why the calories burnt were so inaccurate and all the other problems and was offered an exchange for another 'used' unit.
This whole process took over 2 months - a shocking customer support. All I wanted by then is to have a simple yet accurate tracker but Garmin wouldn't let me 'downgrade' to a tracker which connects to the Garmin HR strap!
This whole experience has left me with a 'nice looking' but 'little functioning' step tracker that doesn't live up to the functions it is advertised to do - so much so that my good old trusted AND ACCURATE Vivofit 1 is back in action for all my exercises and the Vivofit 4 is just a watch and step tracker.
How very disappointing!!!

Fitness trackers seem to be everywhere today and of course there are many arguments for and against them which are often valid. The biggest negative is that they are inaccurate which, might be true but that does not in my view negate their benefits.

And the main benefit? They become the nagging partner in your brain telling you to move, in particular walk. And no matter what cobblers is spouted about various exercises, the main thing is to move. Run, walk, hop. It makes no difference when it boils down to it when it comes to helping life an active life. Just move a bit. Move a bit more is better and what I've found over the last four years is that a fitness tracker almost forces me to do that. Okay, I am by nature a person who is generally self motivated and I am a gym fan, but as I've got older I've found it easier to talk myself out of doing a bit more now and again. It's an insidious thing and before you know it, you find that you no longer active.

But, a fitness bit is a visual indicator that your activity level vs pie consumption has gone out of balance and that for me gets me back on my hind legs and moving. It's surprising how guilty you feel when presented with a record of your indolence...

Now, over the last few years I've had a Fitbit - that was a bit rubbish but being an early adopter...., A Samsung Smart watch, a cheapo ten quid thing - that was great and lasted 18 months - and now this.

So, accuracy. It's not bad. I know for a fact that if I get off at the big flag in Baku where I work and walk to my apartment it is exactly 5.15KM. All of my various trackers bar the first have been close enough to this distance for me to feel that they are accurate enough to be of use. All of them show my steps to be 8000 to do this -/+ 10% which, is perfectly fine for what I need.

The Vivofit 4 here I've found is the lowest counting of all the ones I have had but is still close to the ballpark average, so step counter is perfectly accurate enough.

The actual Vivofit 4 is small - which, is exactly what I wanted. I still prefer to have a decent watch on my wrist and thus use the tracker on my right side purely for movement and heartrate checking. And it if the Vivofit 4 was like a full sized watch I would feel a bit like Del Boy on a street corner trying to flog dodgy time pieces.

The downside of being small is that the screen is also small which, for me is of no concern for the above reasons. However, if you intend this as a watch replacement then I'd say you need to look for something with a bigger face designed for that purpose.

Of course the Vivofit is also about other things such as sleep and non-walking exercises which, once again is a help if you use this it get you in the groove or habit.

The sleep timer seems to be accurate enough when I compare it to my actual hours of sleep according to my bedside clock.

The other exercises are supposed to be automatic but I tend to set when I start and set when stopped.

Now, much of what makes a fitness tracker relies on the app and when up and running it is comprehensive and has multiple options for pretty much any kind of activity you want.

Firstly the slight niggle which, was when setting the app up it would not progress past the connection stage. In the end I uninstalled the app and then reinstalled it and weirdly it was then fully populated and operational. It must have dragged my information from the inevitable account settings you have done. Once working it has been fine since so I don't know. It certainly did not follow the instructions for sure when initial setup was required.

As part of the app you can set up your types of activity and routines. As I said before, I am a gym fan so have set up some of my routines. I have a different one for each day of the week and the process is a long one as you pick your exercises from a drop down list which, is comprehensive but of course not always named the same as you might know it. So far out of the seven I have, three are done and it was a bit drawn out. Worthwhile in the end but you gotta take the pain if you want to do it.

What else? Well, it's a battery operated watch that does not need charging. This is a good thing mostly, but of course the time will come when it needs a new battery and that depends a lot upon how you set this up. It automatically updates the app on your phone but there is a clear warning that if you set up for a very regular update you will drain your battery. I have set mine for infrequent which, I hope will give me a year of use.

The fitness tracker itself is neat, small(ish) and comfortable to wear. It's unobtrusive as well - at least in black.

Overall, this is probably the best tracker I've owned and so for me personally a very good bit of kit let down a very small amount by a slightly odd setup process that I still don't entirely get.

I've had the tracker for a few days now, so i'll update further down the line. Firs of all the design is minimalist, nothing fancy or garish, I like that. The screen is always on which is great because you can use it like a normal watch. The back light is all right, but nothing to be excited about. It seems to track better than what I had previously which was a letscom tracker. So far i haven't lost any steps and also the tracker does intensity. The moveIQ feature is great and while I haven't taken it swimming it picks up on running and brisk walking. This would have been a 5 if the app connected to the tracker reliably. The connecting malarky is horrible and auto sync as was advertised doesn't seem to work... I'll update when I've had the tracker a bit longer...

Maybe we've just been unlucky with this fitness Garmin Vivofit 4 tracker my teenage son (13 years) loves it but we have now had 3, which we've had to return under a year old with the same problem the silver button breaks and can't be pressed, you can't then flick through tracker activities, it just becomes a expensive watch, displaying only the time! This is very annoying and disappointing and my son get upset he hasn't got a activity tracker untill its replaced. Amazon have been great every time and replaced it, not sure I want it replaced with the same tracker a fourth time! My daughter x3 have the Garmin junior trackers and they have been brilliant without problems.

The Garmin App is great, it would be a brilliant activity tracker suitable for teenagers if it lasted more than 6 months before the front button breaks, then the battery dies. Highly disappointed won't be buying another.

The Vivifit 4 is my most recent purchase of the Garmin brand. The Vivofit 3 was great and easy to use so I have replaced it with the 4 after the display started to go wrong. The first device I received was unable to sync with my phone or my computer so I returned it and received a replacement the next day. This device synced with my phone easily but I'm still unable to sync with my computer as I need to update the software to enable the sync. Apart from that the Vivofit 4 is a great fitness tracker which I wear 24/7, including when I'm swimming, in the bath or showering. It's waterproofness was one of the main reasons for choosing a Garmine tracker.

They say the battery lasts a year, mine has just died after 18months and it was very cheap to replace. Not having to take it off to charge it every few days made this the best fitness tracker for me by far. As its waterproof too, I've only ever taken it off for airport security and its been brilliant. Sleep tracker is pretty accurate. As is the step counter with the exception that it does count steps if you're travelling in a bumpy vehicle, but I found that to be the case with other brands too. For the first six months I used it only as a watch and step counter and it did that brilliantly. After that I've started playing with some of the other features including the period cycle. It does take a couple of tries to remember how all the buttons cycle through, but it's fairly intuitive and you can customise your display via the app which is great. Overall I've tried 3 other fitness bands in the past decade and this is head and shoulder my favourite, mainly for the battery life. (and you can light up the screen if you need to read the time in the dark)

I bought this model because I wanted a fairly basic step counter that worked with Garmin connect. This it does very well. I liked that it didn't have hard corners to catch on things which means I can wear it at work. I own several garmin devices and they've been great, really durable but the Vivofit 4 falls way short.

Anyway the positives. For walking and running it's pretty good, cycling less so, it doesn't pick up pedal strokes and connect doesn't count cadence strokes as steps.

I like the intensity minutes function, that adds a dimension. Personally I found the auto activity a bit pointless because I have a GPS tracker and most phones do a better job anyway.

Generally along with some nice new trainers and some earbuds I was doing a lot more walking, which is really the aim of the game!

The big down side, they stop working. The first one lasted two months and died, not sure why. Easy replacement from Garmin, no trouble, can't fault their replacement service. The second one lasted two months and died, condensation inside. Having asked for a refund I have another replacement on the way but I'm bored of this now. Bad show really, something I bought on brand trust has turned out to be unreliable.

Genuine Review: This is one of the worst fitness bands available in the market. It will last just for a few months and then it will start giving all sorts of problems like getting switched off automatically, resetting on its own, sync issues, incorrect reading etc. Customer service is pathetic. I thought it's the problem with the battery and Garmin Cust Service at Delhi at best can suggest you to get the batteries replaced which is of no use. My band is completely dead now. Better to invest in some other brand.

It needs battery replacement after one week of usage.
So the whole purpose of spending big money for a relatively simpler gadget is defeated.
And to my bad I made A cut in the strap to fit Better on the wrist so I can’t even sent it for replacement or refund.

This is a truly bad product from Garmin. It stopped working after a few months of usage...totally stopped responding and would not switch on. Garmin suggested we change batteries, even though they claim one year of battery. Now we are trying to source the battery in India with little luck. Found it on one website (Tanotis) and that too they need to source an equivalent batter from outside India. Garmin website does not sell this as an accesory in India. PLEASE BE CAREFUL before you buy, as you could land into trouble the moment the battery runs out.
And, of course, we are yet to find out if it is just a battery problem or something else. Will know only after the batteries are delivered :-(

С февраля этого года я Vivofit 4 в использовании. Мой предшественник Vivofit 1, которая была примерно 2 года с 1. Батарея обошлось и всегда 100 % надежно было. Оставить после потом экран начал у меня на Vivo 4 внешний вид, функциональность и срок службы батареи меняли меня так как мне с самого начала дали. Обстановка была поначалу немного сложно, потому что нужно понять в меню только один раз, но быстро этому учатся. Если все работает, это очень красивый и сдержанный товарищ. Видно на первый взгляд все, что вы хотите, и вы можете изменить экран монитора в несколько различных цветов и персонализировать Карту. Move IQ работает пока только при ходьбе и беге и даже если вы не приостановлена в Тренировки слишком долго. В целом очень красиво и так имеет все, что нужно. До 2 месяцев без синхронизации стало невозможно. Именно в момент перехода пошел и ничего больше данные не могли быть переданы в Connect App. После установления соединения между приложением и браслет Sync прервался через пару секунд и она Garmin знамениями. Я думал это до обновления Connect и подождал пару недель. После обновления вибрацию: по-Прежнему не Sync пришел не возможно!! Поддержка связался и после бесчисленных Попыток (приложение удалить, удалить устройство, новое сопряжение и т. д. ) было ясно прибор неисправен! Устройства должны быть посланы данные и ушли!! Возврат товара было легко и в течение около 5 рабочих дней новый Vivo 4 был в посте. Теперь настроить все обратно и запустил снова. До сих пор... спустя 3 месяца каждый день до 2. Отметить день аварии, а иногда шаги теряются и интенсивность езды не будут совпадать с приложением. Катастрофа происходит тогда, когда вы что-то давит в меню и видно только раз, после этого ничего больше Garmin знак Vivo, а затем вернулся, как будто ничего не случилось.. поддержки связался и теперь второй возврат по программе! По словам поддержки случайные сбои при Vivo 4 в настоящее время являются нормальными так как видимо еще не Исправлено, как только потери данных (даже если только несколько шагов или минут) не является нормальным и для меня несостоятелен, поскольку я не хочу ждать что будет дальше. Найти в Интернете несколько статей других пользователей, но в этом vll потому, что есть еще 4 так долго. Кое-что смотреть после 2. Попытка происходит. Я рад, что у меня Vivo еще 1 случай, но это должно быть Исправлено немедленно явиться Garmin! В противном случае Vivo 4 по-прежнему мой любимый если вы осведомлены с самого начала то, что вы можете и что вам нужно.

Хочу отслеживать мои шаги, некоторые тренинги по Пуск/стоп время захватить и контролировать мой сон. Трекер не нужно будет постоянно Bluetooth на мобильный телефон, но и синхронизировать его вручную и GPS-данных он не должен также захватить.
Я был с vivofit2 очень доволен, но сдался недавно дух. Traotz плохого/отсутствия поддержки GARMIN я решил еще раз для трекеров от GARMIN. Это была ошибка?

Выглядит хорошо, чувствует себя на запястье хорошо.
НЕ ТАК ХОРОШО:
При достаточно яркости на улице можно прочитать объявление. В тусклом свете больше не хватает к сожалению, и свет в часах должен быть включен. Это преодолеть, но летом (зимой да опыт приходит до сих пор).
ОТРИЦАТЕЛЬНЫЕ:
дисплей ничтожно мала...на 5-числа, количество шагов, то уже менее чем с чтением. Как это будет на 6-значный только? Так как понравилась с предыдущей vivofit2 с большого дисплея значительно лучше.
отлично:
синхронизация, кажется, работает только, если Bluetooth и служба определения местоположения на телефон *включено постоянно* и остаются.
я по умолчанию выключен я, и включаю только Bluetooth для синхронизации (при vivofit2 вполне достаточно). Если я anstosse после этого вручную на трекер синхронизация, больше не найти устройства. Я должен выполнить сопряжение еще раз, а затем снова Bluetooth и служб Местоположения включается. Я не знаю, что vivofit4 GPS собирает данные на всех, поэтому вопрос о том, почему сайт услуги теперь должна быть включена здесь получается, для передачи данных от трекера на сотовый телефон. Кроме того, он не горит, что каждый Раз, когда устройство должно быть сопряжено новое, если Bluetooth был выключен. Один LG4 с Android 6 меня. И нет, я не куплю себе новый телефон, чтобы трекер работает аккуратно. Скорее трекера восходит, из-за недостаточного качества.

первые проблемы решал теперь. Поэтому сейчас 4 звезды.
- ручной Синхронизации сайта без отпуска работает безупречно.
- до сих Пор никакие данные не были потеряны.
Я буду изучать теперь с помощью Move IQ. Это должно работать, существует при следующем обновлении 5 звезд.
