The Franke Orca Sink Grid is an exact fit for the Franke Orca sink. It protects the sink bottom yet leaves plenty of clearnace for dishes and pots that are placed in the sink.
I am heeding the advice of other reviews and keeping hot pots from touching the grid. I let my pots cool before placing in the sink. I would also suggest being extra careful with sharp implements such as chef knives when you place them on the grid. The plastic coating can be cut by the sharpness of the knives.
I think with proper care this item should last a long time. It is very expensive but worth the value of protecting an expensive sink.

Sooooo glad we spent the money on this to go in our new Orca sink. Hated to spend the money buy worth it for sure. Would buy again if I needed to. I only wish it came with the Orca sink for the price, but worth it because very good quality and very helpful (especially with kids).
