Ужасно

Greetings Everyone,It has been six months since I got this Epson Workforce 1100 printer and I'm ready to pack it up, drive to an Epson Store, and return it by smashing it down on their front door step. You remember that Discount Tire commercial where the old lady returns a tire through the store's front window, well that is my feeling now with my Epson 1100 after six months of use.First of all, I decided to try the Epson 1100 after years of using an HP wide format printer. I've got to say that the HP CP1700 was a workhorse that did have its own 'I gotchas', but were nothing in comparison to what I've experienced with this Epson. Did I say yet that I would never/ever get another Epson printer in any shape or form? Well consider it said! I'm probably going back to HP or Canon. Here is my list of complaints:1) Never/ever get a printer where you cannot easily remove and clean the print heads. One cannot really remove the print heads in the Epson as they are designed to be a permanent fixture. 'WHEN' they clog and they WILL, it is a nightmare in trying to unclog them, if you are even able to, by some stroke of luck. The kiss of death is when you go on vacation for a week or better. If the print heads are not used on a constant basis, the ink will dry on their face thus clogging them. All the cleaning cycles does is force more ink onto them, thus you burn through a ton of ink, which is very expensive and no guarantee that all the print heads will clear themselves. With an HP, you easily remove the print head, clean it off with a damp cloth or soak it, and you're done and back to printing, but not with an Epson.2) This 1100 'BURNS' through ink! It is unbelievable as to how much ink it goes through as compared to an HP. The marketing claim/ploy that they tell you in that you use their bigger ink cartridges, plus you use two black ones, is nothing but marketing B.S. This thing drinks ink like a 'sailor on shore leave'! If you use official Epson ink, be prepared to spend and spend and spend on ink. You really need to hook up I.V. bags of ink to this thing to keep up with it!3) Lets talk about 'duplex' printing. You read the marketing literature and it says in print that it does two sided printing. This leads you to believe that it does automatic duplex printing, which was one of my requirements for buying the thing. Come to find out, it does NOT do automatic duplex printing. When you read the 'fine print', you find out it will do the 'odd' pages first, stop, and wait for you to turn the printed paper over, reinsert it all back into the paper hopper, and then hit a button on your computer screen that it's ready to print the even pages this time around. Welcome to the Epson style of two sided printing! Another load of marketing B.S.4) The Epson engineers who designed this one are either really brain damaged or geniuses as to another way to sell you more ink cartridges. This Epson portrays a screen that tells you what your ink levels are. It gives the impression of them going down as you print. Soon enough, your printer will stop and the ink screen will indicate that one of your cartridges needs replacing. You replace the cartridge and it goes through this long initialization cycle before it will start printing again. Just for giggles and laughs, I broke open a few of those 'empty' ink cartridges and found about 25% of the ink still in them. Talk about a rip off!!!The buy in price for this unit is very enticing. But once you are hooked, be prepared to spend, spend, and spend on supplies and getting it fixed, because of the clogged heads. As I said before, never another Epson for me of any kind!---------------------------------------------------------------------Fast forward one year to May 2012, and I'm on my second Epson 1100 since I wrote the above. I know I swore that I wouldn't buy another, but I had a deadline and I had all this third-party ink inventory invested, so I got another one on the cheap. With regard to the clogging head problem, DO NOT leave the printer in idle mode. When not using, turn the printer OFF. This will move the print heads and park them down into the ink pad(s), which saves the print heads from drying out. Also, everyone be aware that Epson has programmed into this unit an 'end of life' count down. Once you hit a certain number of print(s) threshold, the unit will convey an error message to you that the ink pads need replacing. The not so funny aspect of this is that 'you' cannot replace the ink pads yourself, but you have to take the unit to an Epson authorized service center to have it done professionally. Guess what, the cost for doing the servicing is more than what the unit costs new. How is this for an example of a programmed self-destruct by a company so to force you to buy again on their terms? Oh, after a little while of the warning message, the unit actually shuts itself down for good and will not work again. It basically commits programmed suicide! The code they sa

I bought this printer a few years ago when I was a poor college Graphic Design student who couldn't rely on my school's always-breaking-down laser printer. Epson was having a sale and I needed a wide format printer, this was the best one I could afford and reviews I found seemed optimistic. They were wrong. At first the printer was totally wonderful then one day I needed to print borderless 13x19 and it refused to do ANYTHING.Calling customer service blamed it on me not using Epson paper, when every other paper size option worked just fine, not to mention IT DID NOT EVEN TRY TO GRAB THE PAPER so how could it be my papers fault. So Epson's customer support is no good just to warn you.It was fine again for a while, then without warning it started printing lines in my work, which usually, NOT always, was fixed with cleaning the nozzles and wasting all my expensive ink.Sometimes it takes forever to print and sometimes it gets so overeager it grabs the paper unevenly and jams.It is way too loud and takes forever to turn on and off, making horrible noises all the while.According to other users you can't really go to Cartridge World to save yourself money because the cartridge chip is supposed to prevent it working again after being taken out.And for the most annoying problem I am currently having, which prompted me to even write this review. So two weeks ago one of my blacks ran out, the second one because this printer barely acknowledges the first black cartridge is there. So I dropped $20 on it.A week later I'm trying to print out some black and white text documents and my Magenta is low. It tries to print 4 color black and it looks horrible. I tell it to print in black and white and it's even worse. I try again and it doesn't even lay any ink down this time. But now I need my Magenta replaced because I have to do special prints onto fabric, which I can't get done at Staples.Another $50 right there. The colors work fine. No black lays done what so ever.I freak out, do a nozzle check, clean, do an alignment check, reprint. Half the black works this time. I check my cartridge info and the useless black cartridge it never uses is a year old BECAUSE IT NEVER USES IT and now it wants to. And now it won't work.So okay, just pull out the useless one and it will work, right? NOPE!"INK CARTRIDGES CANNOT BE RECOGNIZED"Well of course not, there isn't one there! This printer is less advanced than printers I had ten years ago that had one black and one CMY cartridge for color. On those you pulled out the color or pull out the black and you can still print no problems at all. But not this printer. This printer is all 5 or nothing. It is s***It is not worth your time.It is not worth your aggravation.I want to smash mine.It literally makes me scream.

I bought this printer because of the large printing out put. If I only knew the problems that I would soon be having with this printer I would never have bought this printer. In the beginning it will work perfect no problems. However, once a color is out it will not let you continue to print until you replace the empty cartridge. Here is where the problem begins, once you installed a new cartridge the printer will not or cannot recognize the new cartridge rendering your printer unusable. After many calls to technical support I was sent a replacement printer. Out the box it works fine until it's time to install new cartridges. Once again I call technical support this time I'm told the ink I bought may be expired so Epson sends me a new set of cartridges from their warehouse. New cartridges arrive and still the printer cannot recognize the new cartridges that came from Epson's own factory. Once again I'm on the phone with technical support this time they determine it might be a problem with the chips in the printer but because they have sent me a replacement printer already there is nothing they can do. They will gladly send me information on where I can take the printer to have it repair myself. Please I encourage you all to do your research on this printer. There are forums were others have had this same problem. Don't buy this printer this is a known issue and Epson is not doing anything about it. This is truly one of the worse printers Epson has put out.

Хорошо

Looking for a large format, yet affordable printer to support my Architecture school needs, I opted for the Epson Workforce 1100 which I bought on October 2009, on a price 20-25% higher than the current - which was very competitive at the time...as it now sells for $160, I would class this printer as a very good deal.Note: A USB cable is NOT included - like with most USB printers...don't do the mistake to buy an expensive cable. Data cables nothing like audio cables...HDMI, Firewire and USB devices do not care for gold plated connectors and heavy weight copper strands...paying more than $2-3 for a 6' USB cable for this or any USB printer or even data transferring devices like USB HDDs is a rip-off...in many countries these sell for as low as 90 euro cent and are given away by the stores when you buy anything above a $40 printer or something...I cannot understand how large electronic stores in the US are convincing so many people into buying $20-30 cables to connect devices costing less than double that...INSTALLATIONInstalling the printer is easy, although the printer's driver could be refined with more features, like assisted mosaic printing of large format drawings into smaller paper stock etc...features available on office oriented printers in the late 90s, early 00s is a shame to be gone now...Also should you install a second Epson printer, driver conflicts might occur unless you download the latest versions of both drivers: had that problem with both Vista and Win 7 64bit laptops that refused to recognize the WF 1100 after the installation of an Epson NX415 All-In-One...downloading the latest driver from the site cured it, but the frustration and time lost trying to figure out what was wrong surely took a lot of points away from the driver installation procedure developers.PRINT QUALITYThe high quality and crisp detailing you would expect from a new Ink-jet printer. Nothing to write home about, but that's not this printer's mission. You should also notice that print quality is highly determined by the quality of the paper stock used: regular copier paper will allow for more bleeding of the ink and result to less crisp and less contrasty prints. Quality ink-jet paper really helps the printer perform better, but I tend to use the "cheap" or recycled stuff for most of my test drawing prints and text prints. The difference from using good quality, heavyweight photo paper when printing photos is of high importance, but that's indifferent from any other ink-jet I know off...nonetheless, if you are trying to find in this printer the photo print quality achieved by the 3-4 times more expensive, multi-colored Epson R series or equivalent models from Canon and HP, you might be a little disappointed...should that be the case, the Epson R1400 might be the best value photo printer capable of up to A3+/11x17 (or 13x19) size prints. Keep in mind that both the printer and the inks are a bit more expensive, on top of the cartridges being smaller too...PAPER FEEDERQuite reliable...I had 3-4 pages stuck out of a total of roughly a 700-800 sheets of 8.5x11 and 11x17s fed through the printer, and at least half of those were due miss-aligning the sheet in a hurry when the printer run out of paper...I wish it had a bypass feeding slot like some old HPs for really heavy paper stock...INK USAGE......the printer has 5 cartridges. 2x black ones that are both used when printing and sold in pairs, and 1x for each of CMY colors. The printer is quite versatile, accepting all 68/69/88 - with the 68 being the high capacity version, claiming 50% more ink than the 69...price is like 15-20% higher than the 69 series equivalent, so I've stayed with the 68s. The Print quality achievable by each ink "type" is supposed to be the same, as all use the same ink - only quantity varies.Ink consumption is a bit on the high side, and as with all printers using this line of inks, colors do get consumed slowly even when you are printing B&W prints, despite specifying through Epson's own driver properties that you wish of a black ink only print...especially the cyan. Black prints are decent to pretty good (paper kicks in), and printing text is blazing fast (and loud - I use the "quiet mode" that slows it a bit so that the printer won't hop around of excitement), but the black output is not as "true black" as the pigment black inks other manufacturers use, or that of good laser printers (take not that many laser printers also produce slightly "Washed-out" blacks). We are not talking ridiculously low ink life, but if you are printing a lot, especially color graphics with high page coverage on 11x17, make sure you have at least a spare ink set close by...when making large graphics or photo prints, speed is considerable slower, but still pretty fast. Just remember that the average text sheet is @ 5-8% ink coverage, and photos / graphics can be up to 100%...

Ужасно

When my HP 5550 printer died, I wanted to buy another hp printer but was deterred by negative reviews. ( approximately 40 percent of the people did not seem to like most of their printers). I chose the Epson workforce 1100 after reading many reviews. When it arrived, I was astonished at the huge size of it. Even though I knew that it would be larger than my last printer, I was still surprised at the size and weight of it. No problem installing it but when I went to print a photo, the print quality was horrific...washed out and with visible printer lines. I do artwork and have printed and sold copies of them for many years on the same photo paper and on two different HP printers and one epson printer with no problem. When I called customer service ( on a long distant line...no toll free), the rep there tried many different things, having me try different settings ect. nothing worked. I also ruined a number of sheets of my good photo paper trying to print these. The rep tried to say that it was because I was not using epson paper. The paper I use is the same that I have used for MANY years and thousands of prints. It is high quality, 10 mil photo paper. I also became aware as I talked to the rep that I would be required to go to my computer settings and adjust for paper type and whether it was text, photo, best quality photo ect. EVERY time I wanted to print something different. This is also something that I never had to do with my HP printer. Finally, after twenty minutes or so, the rep washed his hands of the problem saying that perhaps it was the application that I was printing from ( print shop 21). I explained that I have used this same application forever and have never had a problem. He suggested that I call them to see if there was something in their program that was interfering with the printer driver. Instead, I returned it to the store, lugging the heavy bulky thing in and breaking my back to do it. I purchased the HP 3000 printer ( which HP had told me was the replacement model for the 5550 that I had previously had. The printer was about half the price and about a third of the size. It installed easily, and the first print came out with gorgeous deep color without a problem. This will definately be the last Epson printer that I will purchase.
