I've hard and soft reset the mouse, I've tried different USB ports, hell I've plugged it into three different PC's and laptops as I tried using it whilst working from home in this Covid madness. Despite suggestions to update and reinstall iCue this hasnt worked and my work computer doesnt have iCue installed on it so the presence and version of the software is irrelevant. You will find forums of people with the exact same issue with no solution, sometimes other then a replacement mouse but after 3 replacements, I dont have hope? dont bother! get yourself an IBM ball mouse, way more reliable
En outre, Amazon ne semble pas honorer la garantie de 2 ans puisque je ne peux pas faire de retour.
I'm 12 hours in with it and I'm amazed. Usually I'd wait a month or so until writing a review but this just can't wait.
This review is for the Corsair Nightsword rgb model.
This FPS/MOBA mouse is outstanding. Firstly the shape, size, weight and fit. Normally it takes me a few days to get used to a new mouse, the feel, the difference.... If you're looking to by this then I assume you know what I mean. It was like the mouse was designed to fit my hand perfectly. The thumb rest is a unique and just feel So natural. The rubber grip is comfortable and airy, haven't had sweaty palms yet. The buttons are placed perfectly. Often they are clumsily placed and are easily pressed. These are all tucked away and in great positions.
This isn't for people with small hands. I think it would be uncomfortable.
The features are impressive. Ridiculous dpi capability. A weight system so you can fine tune the mouse to your style. The rbg is crazy. 4 different zones all customisable with so many different effects and settings. Multiple profiles so you can have different dpi presets depending on you're preference. The ICUE app has 9 sections all with different settings. Weight tuning, hardware lighting, hardware actions, actions, lighting effects, surface calibration, inboard profiles, dpi, hardware lighting. Each sections has numerous options, settings and custom configuration aspects.
The mouse itself looks impressive and has a braided cable. Mouse is so smooth on a suitable surface.
10 macro buttons. So many different options and configurations. The sniper button is perfectly placed and isn't uncomfortable to press and hold like some. Dpi setting indicator leds let you know what setting you're on.
It's all plastic with rubber grips but it does by no means feel cheap and shoddy. It feels quite premium. My uses are gaming, video and photography editing.
I spent hours deciding what mouse I was going to invest in. This came out on top in term of specs and features that suit my requirements. I'm so much more happy than I thought I would be with it. If you have the money and you want a mouse packed with awesome features, Rgb, ergonomic design, slick appearance and elite performance this is not a bad choice to make. I fell out of love with corsair a few years ago but this has reignited my love for their peripherals!
10 out of 10 in all categories!
The mouse comes in corsair's typical box with black and yellow branding with some basic text. Inside is the mouse (hopefully) some small pamphlets and a small box containing the weight system. Now the mouse itself has most the box's ticked: 10 buttons, a powerful sensor, RGB galore, customizable weights, thumb rests and an oh so lovely texture.
Paired with Corsair's iCUE software allows powerful customisation from RGB synching with other RGB peripherals (and even ASUS motherboards!) to setting DPI in single digit increments all the way up to 18k. There are 10 buttons in all with most being in reasonable reach. Now my slight downside is here also, the buttons even after months of use feel stiff and require a bit of force. Some of the games I play require fast responses so as a result I have actually picked up another corsair Scimitar on which the buttons are more easy to depress and hold, shame there is no mouse that combines the easy button clicks of that with this Nightswords form factor.
There is also a weight system with the mouse. Even without the mouse this is not the lightest mouse, but its not going to be with its size and marketed genre the quickest reflexes do no matter. But adding weights notches this up more so. You can neatly place weights in whichever location underneath you want to give is some more customisation. A cool this is iCUE also knows where the weights are.
Anyways I expect for most people this may not be an issue but something to highlight as for me its a deal breaker to the point its relegated as a secondary mouse. So in all this is a lovely mouse, nearly perfect but not quiet for me.
I thought i would upgrade but it was far from it and from now on i will be staying away from corsair products all together,
since after owning this and the K95 Platinum XT for 34 days
(bought at the same time and the Enter key LED died, space bar and media keys stopped working)
as the left click stopped working and i had to press it two or 3 times to get one click input and dragging windows no longer worked.
It took me two times to get a refund as i was told to let corsair handle it but i never got the phone call, i can think of what would happen, just like with my K70 LUX, pay £20 for a replacement as they dont pay postage, i did this 5 times befire nd that £100 went in the bin since i was sick of faulty keyboards and on the 6th keyboard i thought its not worth it, plus i had a bad experience with a corsair 900D (£300 case) that was not painted inside and corsair would not help with that.
I am using a £20 keyboard and mouse set that became a backup and i have had since 2012 with no problems.
After my experiences with the lack of care towards QA and helping customers i would suggest staying away from there products.
Mouse worked fine, nice feel, a smooth movement and came with a nice amount of adjustable DPI's for any usage.
3 months later, the middle mouse button stopped working completely, and after attempting to remedy this with the old compressed air trick, it was confirmed that it was most certainly broken. I always like to believe that you have to try things twice, so I returned this to receive another as I may have gotten an unlucky defected mouse.
Cut to today, (1 month after receiving the new mouse) and the left click has all but completely stopped working. I fail to believe this was just bad luck or coincidence, or due to how I use mice (considering the last mouse had lasted over 2 years and wasn't broken in any way). I am now steering clear of any corsair mice as they have shown me just how unreliable their products are if you plan to use them for more than a couple of months (which for a mouse is definitely not wanted)
To cut a long story short, 2 of these products lasted me 4 months, and both have been returned with no intention of purchasing again, steer clear and get a better branded mouse as this is just poor.
On a positive note amazon's return team are super helpful in getting me my money back for this product.
1. Wired
2. Heavy
3. White and black (ha!)
Given that I'd ordered a bunch of other Corsair stuff at the time (see my other reviews) this one fit the bill perfectly. It's not really for intense gaming sessions, more sedate stuff, but my new sim racing rig is a permanent fixture and so doesn't need a wireless mouse and all of the battery shenanigans that brings with it.
It's a lovely looking mouse, and the weights on the bottom give it that little bit of heft and "lower centre of gravity" that I look for in a mouse. You can remove these if you want and dial it into your personal preference. The high DPI makes it super easy to move around the screen with ease, but the crosshair button that drops the DPI while you hold it down is a great option in a lot of situations, not just fast action/FPS games. I play a lot of cue-sport games, and so this button allows me a degree of fine control on top of what the game might already allow. Or even in MS Office apps where you need that little bit of extra finesse.
The hand-feel is great, it's not too big and I have small-average sized hands. The clicks are positive and it's very smooth on most surfaces. The only criticism I have found so far is a pedantic one - the braided cable can be a bit scratchy depending on what it's brushing over. Petty I know! ;)
Pros:
- Buttons layout, no problem with reach.
- Comfortably sits in my large hand (finally!). This was one of the main reasons why I got this mouse. I don't have the same pain sensation in my right forearm muscles that I tend to experience with my Logitech G900 Chaos Spectrum mouse after a few hours of sitting in front of my PC. The G900 is simply not high enough for my palm. I couldn't really test it in the shops here in Ireland because they are all packaged and not displayed securely on the counters for buyers to try them out.
Cons:
- Unlike the Logitech Gaming Software, by default, the Corsair iCue takes time to load up your LED and DPI profiles upon Windows startup. That's really disappointing. With Logitech on 4k monitors your profiles kick in as soon as your screens start and you can proceed to navigate swiftly to stuff on your desktop. I will see if I can set a higher priority for this app in the running apps menu on Windows to improve this lag.
- You get rid of the logo and the mouse looks like a 20-30 Euro range mouse made by an unknown brand, not an 80.00 Euro one! Such a good name for a mouse not being utilized to its max. potential by not incorporating it in the design is in my opinion a big mistake. Mice from other known brands have printed labels located on the bottom to indicate few details about the product. The Corsair mouse has none!
That's all. The addition of weights for further "precision tuning" will probably find a few admirers. The mouse already weighs 120g dry. I am definitely not going to make it heavier as it currently is. Computer mouse, in my opinion, should be a peripheral that comfortably sits in your hand (minimizing wrist and forearm muscles fatigue) and be as light as possible so you don't feel its presence while using your PC.
Sensor is solid, buttons feel good, tracking seems sound.
The Corsair config software remains a bit of of a hot mess, it's never clear which profiles are used, on the mouse, just in the software, which are the default etc.. Basic operations like binding a keystroke to a button are far from clearly presented. It all works, ultimately, but it's a tangle.
The mouse feels great though. As long as it lasts a while, I'll be happy.
However, everything about it feels off in the hand:
- The mouse shape is just strange.
- The materials used are HORRIBLE. The sides are this weird, scratchy hard plastic that doesn't feel good under your fingertips, while the main body is glossy hard plastic with no grip.
- Main buttons are OK, but the side/DPI buttons are just hard & horrible to press.
- Cable is stiff & uncentered. Doesn't feel great even in a bungie.
- The mouse is heavy & feels it - needs better skates.
- Corsair iCUE software is bloated - even compared to Razer Synapse, iCUEs 1Gb+ install is laughable.
Returned, not recommended unless you try it in a store first.
When scrolling slowly (i.e. browsing a webpage), it simply fails to register the scroll and the wheel will glide without any tactile feedback (whereas it's meant to "click" as you scroll).
It's also a shame that the DPI settings etc. aren't saved onto the onboard memory for whatever reason. You have to wait until CUE has launched before your DPI is back to it's usual setting. Lighting etc. saves onboard perfectly fine though.
It also likes to keep resetting the DPI to the lowest option, so I have to manually toggle it back up a couple steps.
+ The look of this mouse is great, like one of the best out there. The RGB is really nicely done and not rgb for rgb's sake. Corsair's iCue software is great as always.
+ The has nice ergonomics and even my fairly small hands fit it well, the thumb rest is very roomy and the rubber grips are nice. It feels a good quality mouse
- This was a dealbreaker for me and I have returned this mouse purely because of this. The side buttons are AWFUL. They feel so cheap, they move slightly too and creak. When you press them, they feel terrible and aren;t sharp or clicky. The "sniper button" is so poor it is actually hard to hold down.
Overall: I really wanted to like his mouse because I have a lot of Corsair products in my setup and it really is a fantastic looking mouse, but the side buttons (which I use a lot for games like Apex) feel the worst I have ever experienced on a premium mouse. Really is a deal-breaker, especially compared to the G502 I'm used too.
3/5.
This mouse fit my hand like a glove, and is very comfortable for me to use in palm grip.
Hardware wise I have no complaints at all about this mouse, and would highly recommend it.
The software(iCue) however is terrible. Its very fiddly to get everything setup. Things that took very little effort in G-Hub, took much longer to perfect within iCUE.
Further iCue wasnt playing nice with my other Corsair products.
Thankfully I managed to configure everything how I wanted, saved those profiles to the mouse itself and un-installed the software.
The mouse is comfortable to hold and while my hands aren't huge, the large size of this mouse makes it much more comfortable than the Harpoon after long and tense gaming sessions. The sniper button is pretty far forward but this suits me as I grip the mouse quite hard sometimes and dont want to accidentally end up pressing it.
As usual from Corsair the rgb settings are wonderfully overkill. The build is plastic but feels solid and I guess it keeps the weight down in this large mouse.
I would be happy to recommend this mouse to any fps lovers out there, though for mobas perhaps you may need even more keys on the mouse itself.
1. - It just randomly started shooting in games.
2. - It started spinning off 360 pointing on floor.
3. - It kept shooting after releasing the left mouse click and continued to do so unless it is pressed again
Ok, i'll just refund it and give it one more last chance, as mentioned before I really love the shape and the weight of it and is really comfy for my grip and hand. As made a refund on it and ordered for new one white edition this time -
On first gaming hour I had the same problem of not releasing left click after releasing your finger off it and random massive dps spins pointed downwards.. that kind of put an end to my experience with these mices.
OK I do have Steelseries Rival 310 completely new and Zowie EC2-a mouses - both works without a problem, but personally I don't like the shape/feel/weight of them. Also I got massive mouse pad (glorius 3xl) and I keep my desk tidy - so not an issue from that point of view.
Software wise? I do have an h100i v2 water cooler so turning off the iCUE would make that malfunctioning too..
I am competitive player and these kind of problems are impacting the performance big time. Also friend of mine shared his experience with this specific model with me and he had same issues.
My suggestion? Stay away from this product..
However I am now sending my THIRD replacement back to get a refund as this mouse has an inherent problem. The left mouse button will stop responding 70% of the time when pressed, meaning you have to click it 5-10times to get a response. My first one only lasted 5 months, the second lasted two months, and now my third has developed the same problem in less than two months.
If you do a google search there are pages in the Corsair forums, reddit and other places where people are all having the same problem it seems to be a huge problem with this specific mouse (and many others). If your mouse was made in China it appears that the Chinese switches will start to malfunction in just a few months. If your lucky and your mouse was made in Japan and Taiwan there doesn't seem to be a problem.
Corsair are aware of the issue but are burying their heads in the sand, many people are having to send their mice back to Corsair for repairs and replacements and the same thing keeps happening.
I've gone back to using a cheap £10 mouse I bought from Amazon a couple of years ago, and although it doesn't feel as nice as the Corsair one, at least it works.
Lookswise, however, it is pretty cool! The style is nice and the customizability of the LED's is a nice touch.
Flashy outside but for this price I expect something that is going to last more than a year and a half.
Not recommended if you are looking for a durable, reliable mouse that will last.
Love the DPI settings
The sniper button used to reduce to a custom DPI is really useful
Lights are nice and can set them to react to games
Overall, best mouse I've EVER used
Last time I buy a corsair mouse
Tracking is by far the best feature of the mouse. It is very VERY precise. The target / slow down button on the left allows you to easily make pixel-level adjustments to the mouse position when required, a great feature for CAD etc.
The buttons on the top of the mouse next to the roller allow you to adjust the mouse tracking speed on the fly as well so you can speed up or slow down the mouse pointer relative to your mouse movements.
Even the cable gets a mention here as it has a nice braided sheath and feels very high quality.
If there is a downside to mention it is that the roller does not rock left or right so horizontal scrolling is not possible with this mouse unless you use the pointer and drag a scroll bar on screen.
Overall I would rate this mouse very highly:
Build Quality: 5 star (very good)
Functionality: 5 star (very good)
Price: Acceptable given the product
Many thanks
Now middle wheel starts to play up, as well as right button.
I have contacted Corsair about warranty and apparently my mouse is refurbished and was sold to me as new.
I will take it further of course and I'm done with buying computer peripherals from Amazon.
The mouse 4 and 5 buttons would stop working at random and for long periods of time but would eventually start working again, then stop working again after a while.
I took it apart to see if there was any loose cables but there wasn’t any.
I did however take the cables out then put them back in to see if that would fix the problem which I thought did, I think you can guess what eventually happened.
That’s probably just a problem with the specific mouse I received though.
Excellent purchase.
Now after just 5 months the left click has stopped working so I will be seeking a refund. I would not recommend this mouse to anyone.
