По с сайта сыро и неудобно, ужасный интерфейс.
Места на столе на самом деле нужно больше, чем модели 3010С, листы при захвате съезжают с лотка, нужно держать(!). По на прилагаемом диске не содержит ПО для модели M140, скачал с сайта Canon. По сравнению с 3010С это шаг назад — если нужно сканировать больше 300 листов сразу в один файл, то подложить д??вольно сложно, т.к. захват листов в лотке сверху, а не снизу, как у 3010 или фуждитсу.
Большая пачка уезжает с лотка, листы перемешиваются из-за этого. Может быть нужен ещё Flatbet Unit 101 за 15000 руб? Тогда почему это устройство продаётся как вполне себе самостоятельный продукт?
По на диске универсальное для нескольких моделей, но M140 среди них нет.
По с сайта криво и убого. Программа сканирования CaptureOnTouch от 3010 не работает с данным сканером. У родного ПО (с официального сайта, не с диска) огромное окно, в котором три настройки — зачем оно нужно, когда сам интерфейс уже на сканере? Детальные же параметры — спрятаны. Номера заданий нельзя поменять местами, при копировании сдвигаются странным образом. Под другим пользователем нужно настраивать всё заново, это полчаса времни минус, а то и больше (если методом проб и ошибок — часа два). Экспорта настроек не нашёл, выгрузил ветку реестра, импортировал другому. Почему это есть в 3010 и нет здесь? Одна и та же функция, в одном и том же месте.
Не нашёл настроек «фонового сканирования», дабы не отвлекать пользователя (интерфейс то ещё есть и на сканере).
Резюмируя, для кого модель — непонятно: для офиса убога, дома — не востребована.

За период пользования в год, замял бумагу ОДИН!!! раз. Сканирую в среднем в день по 100-150 листов. Для меня странны отрицательные отзывы, сканер не подвел ни разу. Работает Очень быстро.

- - Не адекватная механическая часть, не рассчитанная на указанную нагрузку и скорость, механика таких нагрузок не выдерживает и сканер выходит из строя. Это именно брак конструкции который кэнон пытался устранить...

The scan was initiated from the control panel using job preset #2, which I configured to scan to PDF at 200 dpi. This resulted in a 58 page PDF document - some of the pages were 2-sided.Points to note:1. the paper flow path is the reverse of what you find on the DR-M160 or the ScanSnap.2. it capably processed this stack - with a whole range of thicknesses and fold locations - without any misfeeds.#########################################################In terms of pricing and functionality, this scanner inhabits the space between heavy duty workhorses such as its older sibling, the Canon imageFORMULA DR-M160 Office Document Scanner, and home office scanners such as the Fujitsu ScanSnap series.In the years since I adopted a completely paperless home office, I have used scanners at both ends of this scanner capability spectrum.At the budget end, I absolutely adored my ScanSnap S510's form factor, its speed - both for scanning and PDF conversion, and its competent software package. However, it was very easy to double feed pages with no ability to start at the errant page, its Windows 7 64-bit drivers gave me frequent errors, and it did not include TWAIN/ISIS drivers.At the premium end of the scale, the DR-M160 made the ScanSnap look like a dainty toy, and performed like you wouldn't believe. Its rollers exuded confidence and could zip through thick stacks of paper with no mis-feeds. Its top notch software included TWAIN/ISIS drivers, a resident scan program, full featured scanner interface software, and a PDF manipulator that was as functional as Acrobat Professional (but without the looks). Once I began to use the DR-M160, the ScanSnap was retired to a closet.So how does the DR-M140 compare?It can be considered as either a budget DR-M160, or a souped up ScanSnap.Where it matches the DR-M160:#######################== It comes with an identical software bundle.== It has the same output resolution (optical 150 to 600 dpi max)== It supports single pass duplex scanning== It can scan plastic cards== It can handle paper sizes from 2"x2" up to 8.5"x14", with long document scan modes up to 118".== Its folio mode lets you scan pages printed as a booklet (such as a social security statement)== Its thin paper mode is great for handling long receipts (the ScanSnap needed a carrier sheet to do this).== 9 programmable job configurations are selectable via control panel.Where it lags the DR-M160:##################-- Not as solidly constructed as the DR-M160-- No double feed retry (the M160 can automatically push back and re-feed any double fed sheets!)-- daily volume of 6000 scans (vs 7000 for the DR-M160)-- speed of 40 ppm (vs 60 ppm for the DR-M160), with letter sized paper at 200dpi.-- 50 sheet ADF capacity (vs 60 sheet for the DR-M160)What is different about the DR-M140:########################++ Has two paper paths - U turn for normal documents, and straight path (for documents that cannot bend such as thick sheets or plastic cards).++ Is about a pound lighter and much more compact. Unfortunately, with the straight path, the paper exits from behind the scanner, negating its compact-ness benefits.++ Has less stringent hardware requirements (Core 2 Duo 1.66Ghz, 1GB RAM, vs Core i7 2.8GHz 4GB RAM for the DR-M160)++ Where the DR-M160 toggles feed modes in its driver (which I prefer), the M140 has a hardware switch. The non separation feeding mode is designed for documents that are attached at one edge - such as a folded page.Conclusion:#######This is definitely a solid scanner that performs well enough to merit the Canon badge. In my tests, it performed as well as the DR-M160. Also, like the DR-M160, it is exceptionally versatile when it comes to handling a variety of scan scenarios (receipts, folded pages, business cards, etc.)Unfortunately, the DR-M140 is priced too close to its bigger sibling to be a compelling proposition.If the power and solidity of the DR-M160 are desirable, there's very little reason to stop at the DR-M140. The heavier duty construction of the DR-M160 is something to be experienced, and could be well worth the premium. On the other end, for lighter home office needs, the ScanSnap should be more than enough - at about half the price.For me, the bottom line is that this space between the DR-M160 and the ScanSnap is simply not a very attractive place to be.Happy Scanning!~Damodar

Over the years, I have used numerous scanners from Xerox, Fujitsu, HP, Canon & Brother. I consider the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC to be the king of scanners: reasonably priced, speedy, good software and rarely jams. In our office, we have 3 of those - they are are our work horses. The only downside to Fujitsu S1500 is that it is not Twain compliant software.This Canon DR-M140 is definitely speedy but there lot of software and hardware glitches and in the end, difficulty of using this Canon DR-M140 defeats the speediness. Here are the problems I found with this scanner:1. It lacks standard document feeder and output tray - so it ends up taking lot more space. You need at least one full paper length in front and one full paper length in back of the scanner. So what good is compactness and small size?2. Because it lacks an automatic document feeder, the paper feeding is not easy and lining up paper can be time consuming.3. There are two ways to feed the paper - U turn & straight; and then there is Feed selection lever. All this introduces unnecessary complexity. The icons on feed selection lever are not self explanatory. Basically straight path feeding with rear cover open is used for thick paper and cards and for everything else U-turn is faster. If the Feed selection lever has wrong setting, you will have multiple papers fed or a paper jam.4. The paper feed mechanism is terrible: it takes multiple papers and then you have to open and remove the papers. In the straight paper path the papers come out all jumbled up, not in the order you feed them.5. The software is also not easy to use. CaptureOnTouch does not reliably start by pressing the scan button. Repeatedly it gives the message that scanner is not connected. So you have to remove the USB cable and reconnect it to get the software to recognize Canon DR-M140 scanner.5. The default OCR recognition setting is Japanese & English. So Adobe would not open the document without downloading Japanese fonts! Once I changed the default setting to English only Adobe opened the documents.6. Nuance eCopy PDF Pro Office software that it comes with froze every-time I opened it. Finally I had to uninstall it. eCopy PDF Pro Office is basically a piece of junk and you are better off not installing it in the first place.7. The user manual lacks even basics like a list of contents or an index. So every time you have go through the whole manual to find what you are looking for.8. So far I have been unable to get this scanner to work with Paperport 11 or 12. It refuses to recognize the scanner driver. What good is Twain compliance?Folks at Canon, who design scanners need to spend a few days using Fujitsu scanners to learn what ease of use is and what a trouble free scanner is because the speed is no good if the scanner is so difficult to use and so glitchy. I wonder if any one person at Canon ever used this scanner before making it available for sale. How could they miss so many problems?BOTTOMLINE: The difficulty of using this scanner and the glitchy hardware & software basically defeats the speed. Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC remains my work horse. If you really need speed then Fujitsu also makes commercial grade scanners like Fujitsu fi-6130 Duplex Scanner (PA03540-B055) which also scans at 40 ppm simplex and 80 ppm duplex, that I would go with.

Before getting into this review, I have to admit that my expectations weren't very high for this little scanner. In our business, we use sheet-fed scanners extensively - and they need to be able to handle everything from stacks of paper to drivers licenses.The main thing that concerned me for this scanner was the paper path that flips the item over and ejects it back out on the top. That's great for keeping the scanner compact; but, it seemed like it would be prone to jamming with thicker items. Well, let me say that we haven't had a problem at all. We've run dozens of drivers licenses through it without any issues at all - including no damage to the drivers license...The main scanner we use is the Fujitsu fi-6130Z, so keep that in mind when I'm going through the features of this unit.Having said that, these are the things I like about this scanner:1) This is an extremely compact scanner that can be operated 100% from the front. That makes it ideal for setting it up under a phone stand to save space.2) It handles everything from standard paper to drivers licenses without issues.3) It is very fast.4) The quality is good - although I do have to admit that the quality from the Fujitsu scanner is betterEven though this scanner excels as a compact unit, there are some things that are a bit irritating:1) Since it doesn't use a gravity feed, it can be a bit of a pain to get it to pick up a new sheet of paper. It seems like we have to 'baby-sit' this scanner a bit more than the Fujitsu when running a lot of documents through it.2) The software is easy to use - but it lacks flexibility. There are no options for controlling the PDF output settings, and the automation kind of sucks. This is the area that really keeps this scanner from shining in our environment.Overall, I think this is a good little scanner - especially if you're looking for a truly compact unit. Personally, I like the Fujitsu Fi-6130z a bit better if you're looking for a full package; but, I can see where the additional space savings would appeal to many people.

The Canon imageFORMULA DR-M140 Office Document Scanner is the second high-end scanner I've used. The other being the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Deluxe Bundle Sheet-Fed Scanner. It's hard for me not to compare the two because I've been using the Scanscap for more than 3 years and I've been getting to know the Canon for less than a year now.And at twice the price of the Fujitsu I keep making value comparisons between the two products. In a nutshell the Fujitsu is a better value. The software bundle is better (Adobe) the way the feed and output trays are setup requires less desk space to use. The feed tray on the Canon requires having a desk or other flat surface to place the paper on since the guides don't flip out or extend in anyway. The feed tray on the Fujitsu also depends on gravity (it feeds from the top) and I found that to be easier to use than the Canon's feed tray. I found image quality and performance to be comparable for most uses.Depending on the settings the Canon can be twice as fast the Fujitsu (40 pages per minute) and it's page detection and ability handling documents of various lengths and sizes is superior and it jams a lot less (in my case).When I first purchased the Fujitsu S1500 I balked at the price but over the years I got great use out of it and learned to appreciate the performance and quality that I was getting. The M140 is almost twice the price. It feels more like a piece of office equipment but unless you have some specific requirements that the S1500 can't fulfill I recommend that instead. Another reviewer does a great job of comparing it to the DR-M160 and comes to the conclusion that it's priced to closely to the DR-M160 to justify it's purchase. OK - so I have used the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC, Canon imageFORMULA DR-C125 Office Document Scanner, and a Xerox DocuMate 3125 Color Sheetfed Scanner for Documents and Plastic Cards converting them to Digital Files, 25ppm and 44ipm with One Touch Technology (XDM31255M-WU). The Fujitsu Snapscan still receives my highest marks for the integration of an easy to use scanner with great integration of software (Adobe). The good news on this particular scanner, is that it comes really close. The other nice part of this particular scanner is that it is very compact and borderlines on being portable, but with full size features. The NuancePDF software is not as good as the Fujitsu package, but it comes in close in the ease of use department. The downside on this scanner is the curved paper path - however, that can also be bypassed, so it is hard to fault it too much. Overall, the Canon line is doing a great job at getting very close to the ease of use of the Fujitsu with a good set of software. The Xerox is good from an overall aspect, but just doesn't hold up to the Canon or Fujitsu with ease of use ...However, if you are contemplating any of these machines, I would probably stick with the Fujitsu. It is easy and intuitive to use, makes great, fast scans, and come with leading software from Adobe.This model by Canon has the benefit of being much easier to carry around and can scan large sets of documents without the bulk of the other 3.So depending on your purpose, if you are looking for a stationary scanner that your tech challenged (coworkers, spouse) can use : go FujitsuIf you are looking for a great all around machine that will pack up well for the occasional road trip, then this model is best.

There are really only two virtues of this device. 1. It looks cute with is pastel buttons. 2. It is TWAIN compliant.Other than that, it is not that great. I had a lot of issue in regards to scanning credit card receipts as they would constantly jam in the feed mechanism. You do have the option to open up the back to create a straight throughput, but in my Dilbert-esque cubicle, there is no space towards the rear of the scanner. I am sure that if your receipt were in perfect condition it wouldn't have an issue, but mine have been in my wallet or pocket, and so get a little wrinkled and that ends up jamming in the scanner. There is also a third party software, Kofax, that is used for the scanning. The instructions that I received mandated that I install that first and then the CD that came with the Canon. The instructions on installing the various components is confusing and frustrating as I am no computer expert. The most retarded part is that using the Kofax application nullifies your ability to capture the image using the button on the scanner. But the quality of the scanned images were good, as well as the speed.Overall, if you are scanning mostly 8.5 x 11 paper documents, this scanner should do the job. But this hardly justifies paying a premium on the price. I use a Fujitsu ScanSnap at home and it is far superior in performance to the scanner in regards to ease of use, jam rate, and bundled with Adobe Acrobat.

I have owned a number of scanners, but this one is absolutely the worst. SAVE YOUR MONEY!! The first one I received would not work at all. I did return for a replacement and it only works intermittently. I have contacted Canon Support on numerous occasions and they have not been able to resolve the problem(s). This was a HUGE waste of money, but I will toss it (probably out the windo so it shatters into a million pieces) and purchase an HP scanner.
