One dishonest company that refused to honor their warranty policy. We bought it less than 2 years ago (in 2015) and now it's overheating the second it's plugged in. My wife called and gave them the serial number. Their support told my wife it's out of warranty because the serial number dated back to 2013. Really??!?!?!? You shipped us an outdated merchandise to begin with and now you tell us it is no longer under warranty when we had a 3 year warranty on the product.

UPDATE JAN 2017--- The red paint coming off onto my hands is indeed a real issue. The first month it was fine but by the 2nd month I was noticing red palms, by 3rd month it was a major PITA. It looks gross, paint is definitely defective and should be corrected by the manufacturer. I tried to contact them but all emails get rejected. What is up with that?? How else can I reach them?? As a result I am changing my 5 star rating to a 3 star... Paint should be so easy to fix and obviously this long discussed issue has not been addressed. For a $75 product this is totally unacceptable. I would like a refund or a new dryer that does not have this problem.

OK I was a skeptic. How much can a blow dryer affect your hair? Apparently a lot. My daughter in law brought one of these to my home while on a visit. She and my son urged me to try it. I have almost shoulder length straight, fine hair. I used the same hair products, same brushes and all I can say is wow. My hair responded. It looked fuller, fluffier and curled they way a wanted. I immediately ordered my own. May seem expensive but when you consistently have good hair days it is worth every cent.

Almost 5 years into having this dryer and it still functions perfectly fine, but I wanted people to know that the red on the dryer has gotten everywhere in my bathroom and it looks nothing like this anymore. Perhaps the red coating cannot handle long periods of drying? In any event, it looks awful and can rub off on your wood bathroom drawers. I think I need to replace it just for my sanity.

I have now owned this item three times. First, in 2013, died in February, 2016. Bought a second one in February, 2016, it died in December, 2016. Then I called Conair, the maker of the product, and they replaced it under the two year warranty. It just sparked and blew up on me this morning, and Conair tells me that the replacement is only warrantied from February, 2016 on even though this one lasted only 15 months. Cheaply made, quick to break.

I should start by saying I bought this hairdryer in August of 2013 and have been using it almost every day for the last three years, and it has worked great. I have very long and thick hair, always leave the concentrator attachment on, and can dry my entire head in about 7 minutes, which is great. Some people have mentioned awkward button placement, but I have only accidentally hit a button while holding it less than 5 times in the last 3 years, so not really a big deal. Also, the long cord is great.

The reason I have to give it only 3 stars instead of 5 is because the enamel on the handle has started cracking/shrinking (it looks like when you melt those plastic sleeves around an Easter egg). This actually started about a year ago, and since it didn't really affect anything, I thought, "Meh, it's fine." The handle isn't hot or anything, just fading/cracking. Just recently, the enamel has also started falling off, which revealed the red paint layer underneath. This shouldn't be a big deal, but with the heat of the dryer, the paint is literally melting off, and each time I dry my hair the palm of my hand gets covered in red paint! It washes right off with soap and water, but this isn't normal, also I have to make sure I don't accidentally touch my hair (or anything else) with that hand.

Anyhow, for a professional dryer that presumably would be used for hours a day at a hair salon, I'm surprised this happened when I only use it for 7 minutes a day. Again, it's been 3 years, and there's nothing else wrong, it functions fine, but I now need to replace it because I can't deal with a bloody-looking hand every morning. I'll be replacing it with a $20 hair dryer so I won't be upset if I need to replace the next one after a couple years.

I purchased this for my mom several years ago and it worked really well for her. I inherited it in 2015 and it is still going strong and dries my hair 3 times as fast as other store bought brands. It does not overheat so I can put it immediately back in the drawer without fear of something touching it and getting too hot. I really like it. The ONLY issue is where the power button is located. I accidentally touch it with my hand when I am drying my hair and it turns off. It's location makes it impossible not to accidentally do that on occasion. I've gotten used to it and manage to avoid that most of the time. Once you get used to the power button, it's great. However, I am reviewing an item I purchased several years ago, maybe they have moved the button since then. If so, it's perfect now!

I have to start with the fact that I have extremely baby fine hair, and to top it off, I don't have a lot of hair. I've lived my whole adult life trying to find ways to help my hair grow longer and give it some volume. Shoulder length seems to be its limit on looking healthy, and about 1" past was always its absolute limit before the "infestation" of split ends keeps it from growing any more or looking healthy. Last year I changed shampoo, conditioner, and styling product, which helped quite a bit for volume, but still needed help getting more length that didn't have to be cut due to breakage/split ends. Right before our state placed the Covid 19 stay at home order, I had read about getting the right hair dryer for your hair type for healthier hair. The top dryer on the list was $300... Um, no. I chose this one based on price/reviews. Annoyingly, I was supposed to get my hair trimmed the week the dryer came, but didn't get to go. It's now 2 full months after I received this dryer (still waiting to be able to get my hair cut) and I'm very pleased! Unfortunately, because my hair was in poor condition from my old dryer when I started using this one, all the hair growth I've had will have to be cut off when salons open again. Having my hair grow 1-2" longer than it ever has in almost 30 yrs is so encouraging! The first week of using the dryer I started having better hair days again and wasn't as anxious to get into a salon. At this point I'm dying already, but very pleased with the dryer's results in the meantime. There are 2 heat settings like my old dryer, but I can actually use the lower heat send setting on this one which I've never been able to do before with good results. I use the high blower setting with my diffuser and I get great results! I was hesitant to buy this dryer after reading some reviews about the color rubbing off pretty early on. At least for right now, it still looks brand new. I'm happy enough with its results that if the color does eventually rub off at some point, I really don't care as long as it still works the same. I had a difficult time spending over $70 on a dryer, but it was well worth it. If I'm able to add an update to my review in the future, I'd love to post after I get my hair trimmed and my hair starts growing out. That'll be the best indicator of how it helps people with thin hair. Until then I can't imagine it's a bad dryer for other hair types but at least for VERY fine curly hair it's awesome!

I bought this dryer on June 8, 2013 and it died today February 13, 2017. I have been pleased overall with the performance. I love how it smooths out my hair and also reduces fly-aways. I don't have any issues with the switch placement as others have mentioned. The screen/filter cap broke about a year ago and I have tried to keep the dust cleaned out of it. However, I think that's probably what did it in. When I turned it off yesterday it sounded like the fan blades were hitting something. That was my first clue that the end was near. Today it ran fine for a minute or so then the motor started slowing down to the point where it almost stopped. I turned it off and I could smell it burning. The only other problem I had was that the nozzle fell off occasionally. I like the dryer enough to buy it again although I found it cheaper elsewhere and the current list price here on Amazon is quite a bit more than I paid for it here 4 years ago. I also own the companion travel dryer, "BaBylissPRO Tourmaline Titanium Travel Dryer". No complaints with that one.

The background story: I have lots of layers in my hair for that messy bedhead look. The longest layers go down until my rear. I've never paid a lot of attention to my hair-dryers, always using those I was given (I can't give you exact models. I know one of them was a Wella and another was a Braun). In the past years (I'm in my mid-20s now) I have realized that my once naturally shiny and healthy hair was beginning to get lots of split ends. I wasn't sure if it was because of my hectic lifestyle (and malnourishment), the bleaching and dying of my hair or other reasons. I don't use hot styling appliances often. I never use straighteners, because I have very straight hair and I rarely have the time to curl my hair. So the main 'hot' product I've used was my blow-dryer. But the last 3 years I have paid more attention to the products I use on my hair (mainly TIGI Bed Head) and my hair's been growing healthy again.

Last year, after moving once more (fom a 220V country to the USA) I never actually bought a new hair-dryer and was just using my tiny travel dryer (where you can switch the Volts) for around 8 months. I noticed how much worse my hair was getting. It was frizzy, it broke easily, it split deeply (not just at the end) and of course it took forever and a half to dry my hair with that tiny travel dryer. Whilst it had been cheap and perfect for travelling, I realized it's not the greatest choice to use regularly.
Hence, I decided to actually invest some time into buying a new hair dryer. After researching it seemed that there is not such a big difference between middle-priced dryers and expensive dryers but a big quality difference between cheap dryers and middle-priced dryers. And since I would just be using this dryer at home, it doesn't need to perform at saloon conditions (my hair stylists all said they would not trust BaByliss at their saloons, because they wouldn't be able to 'take the heat' ;) ). That's why I went for this BaByliss in the medium price range (I have the BaByliss Big Hair Brush and a Waver and had great experiences with them). I was also interested in the Tourmaline that's supposed to emit even more negative ions.

~~~THE PROS~~~
- It's WARM, but not too hot, meaning that the risk of heat damage is decreased (I use the hottest setting for most of the process, the Cold hot shot button for the end to allow my hair to cool and my styling to settle). More importantly:
- It's FAST-DRYING. I have seen that some reviewers complained about this dryer not being 'hot enough' but I think it is warm enough. Besides, it's not about how hot it is, but how evenly it distributes the air and how evenly it heats in general. And this really dries my hair well. It used to take 20-30 minutes to dry my hair, with the BaByliss Pro I am done in 8-12 minutes! Although I stop in between to put styling products into my hair. (And as mentioned above, my hair goes down to my hip, so 8-12 minutes is amazing!)
- It has a strong, steady air flow. I use the black nozzle that comes with it (and I've never had the problem of it falling off like other reviewers have said) and it just directs a steady air flow so evenly at exactly where I want it to blow. The air pressure is just perfect.
- It's LIGHT. Although I don't actually have to hold it for all that long, I do appreciate it if my appliances don't weigh too much.
~~~THE CONS~~~

- The BUTTONS. Other reviewers have already said it. The buttons on the handle were a tragic design choice. I feel myself not really gripping the handle of it, because I'm always afraid I will accidentally push another button. I have accidentally switched it off a few times or changed the heater settings from hot to warm or cold. This can be a bit annoying, especially since I often switch hands because I use a round bristle brush to pre-style my hair while blow-drying.

- The CABLE/ADAPTER. I don't know if it's the cable or the adapter or some circuit error, but I know some reviewers have stated that their BaByliss stopped working after a short period of time. I have had some troubles switching it on myself. Since even my cheap, tiny travel hair dryer has had no problems with the electrical sockets it must be this hair dryer. I ALWAYS perform the suggested 'Reset' and 'Test'-routine that you should do before usage and it always tests positively. Still, sometimes my dryer just won't switch on. I just unplug it, try to straighten the cord, plug it back in, hit Rest and Test again. Sometimes I have to do this 2-3 times and so far, it hasn't stopped working entirely. (I've only had it since November 2013 however and now it's January 2014).

~~~THE MENTIONABLE:~~~
(Things that don't bother me, but you'd maybe like to know about).
- The SIZE. While not being as chunky as some of my past hair dryers, it's also not that small, either. I am fine with it, since I don't plan to travel with this dryer (I just need every inch of my luggage so I always only pack my travel dryer that folds together).
- The NOISE level. While I don't find it excessively loud, it's not exactly what I would call quiet either. But then again, I am a bit sensitive when it comes to noise and am quickly leaning towards the 'it's too loud'-party. So I am not bothered by the noise, but I didn't use it and immediately think 'Wow, this is exceptionally quiet', because it's fairly normal.
~~~THE CONCLUSION~~~

I love the results.
It dries my hair quickly (which is VERY important to me), it doesn't seem to excessively damage my hair (of course you should know using any hair dryer is not the healthiest choice for your hair), meaning my hair looks shiny and healthy (no split ends!) and it provides me with exactly what I need for a price of 50 USDs, which I find reasonable.

I acknowledge that there are a few flaws and some room for improvement, but I am just so happy with the job it does that I don't care that I sometimes accidentally switch it off or that I can't firmly grip it around the middle of the handle. Whether this is what you need or if the flaws are something you can compromise on is based on your personal preference.

I purchased this in 2011--I can't believe they're still using this red finish. As everyone will tell you, the paint immediately gets scratched or just wears off from holding it. If you lay it on a cloth--which I did to keep it from vibrating off to the floor--be sure the cloth has no moisture; the red will stain anything moist.

The biggest problem, however, was the narrow air flow nozzle. It comes off all the time--like several times during one use. I kept using it thinking I'll tape it, which I did. I used aluminum tape designed to adhere to hot surfaces (like flue pipes). It still came off, just not as often. I can't believe I put up with it for so long, probably because I only used it once a week.

It isn't cheap; so I think much less of the company overall for their unresolved quality issues. Revlons and Conairs that I used previously for $23-30 were a joy to use compared to this. Really, avoiding frustration is worth something, but I kept thinking I could fix it and live with it. Bad choice.

I purchased this dryer in May of 2016 and it died this week, so I got two years of use out of it. Honestly? I don’t think that’s terrible. My stylist has told me that she buys a new hair dryer every 6 months. Good hair dryers get super hot during use and they just don’t last forever.

Before I purchased this dryer I had a big silver conair dryer that put out a lot of air. The Babyliss TT is definitely better. I didn’t notice a significantly shorter drying time with this dryer, but my hair is definitely smoother. I have thick, fizzy hair with a lot of wave/curl, so I still need to straighten after drying (it’s not magical, sadly) but the Babyliss TT definitely helped me cut back on styling time.

(Sidenote: I use the blue babyliss titanium straightener. I’ve had it for 8.5 years old and it still works perfectly despite being dropped onto our ceramic tile floor more times than I can count, so I’m a huge fan.)

As far as the other reviews on peeling paint: I did notice that the paint on the handle started rubbing off slightly after awhile, but it wasn’t nearly as noticeable as some of the pictures here. My handle was a subtly lighter red than the rest of the dryer, and I never noticed paint in the bathroom or on my hands. I wonder if high humidity and/or hair product use could contribute to the peeling issue? The finish on this dryer isn’t glazed, so I can imagine that if sprayed with hair products (or held in hands covered in product) it would be more prone to rubbing off. Maybe?

Anyway... overall, I like the dryer. It’s slightly on the heavy side and I wish it had a glazed finish, but my biggest issue is that it’s now $30 more expensive on Amazon than it was when I purchased it two years ago (and I had looked at it multiple times before buying, and at least once it had gone on sale for $15 less than the price I ended up paying).

I came here to repurchase this dryer, but I think I’ll try to shop around for a better price or look something else that’s slightly more affordable. I’ll probably leave this in my cart to see if it goes on sale. If it does, I’ll snag it so I have a backup for when the next dryer inevitably dies.

I did not have any issue with paint coming off or anything else and the dryer worked very well.

However, it did have very short life span of 1 year or so and I had to buy a new one after it stopped working so I would not recommend this product as a dryer at this price should be built to last more years in my opinion.

Our family did use this dryer every day for just over a year and it worked well while it lasted but not sure why it died and stopped working after just 1 year...

After going through reviews and having trouble with my hair getting snarled while blow drying i went ahead and splurged on this model. Am super disappointed that after 6 months of use 3-4 times a week it has a short on the one-off switch and no longer turns on consistently. Unfortunately i don’t have the box or information anymore so am just stuck with having spent $80 on a hairdryer that isn’t worth the money. I have the same luck with the snarls with a less expensive dryer that actually worked consistently for 5 years

I couldn’t be more pissed. This is my second one. I loved the way it dried by hair, but the concentrator doesn’t stay on. The first time around, I thought it was somehow my fault. I bought a second blow dryer—because I believe there’s good in the world—and it happened again. After a couple of months, the concentrator loses the strength to stay on and I lose my will to live. A slight tap will send the thing flying across the room like a prom dress. Don’t waste your dollars on this Baby-steal-my-bliss-PRO.

Today it got very hot and shut off.12 hours later it still won't work, I can hear a very low hum but that is it. Pushing the reset button did nothing. The price has gone up from $56.91 to $79.99. Definitely will NOT purchase again.

Some days my hair responded well and some days it seemed like it was frying the ends. I have thick, wavy hair that has lots of body but always needed to apply a lot of product to help tame flyaways and avoid dry-looking ends. I wash and dry my hair every 2-3 days depending on activities and finally put this to rest just after 3 years of roughly three times a week use. It all started when it began overheating and tripping my ground outlet exactly at the 3 year mark. Really annoying when on a busy morning trying to get ready for work your dryer stops with hair only half dry and you have to run around the house to flip breakers back on in order to finish getting ready. Then, it started smelling like electrical wires were burning. This is not the priciest hair dryer I have owned but, I have owned cheaper hair dyers purchased from drug stores that lasted longer than this brand. I also agree with other reviews that the red finish wears off pretty quickly, making the unit look like crap. Overall, I would not buy this brand again.

I bought the travel version of this and liked the job that one did so much, that I bought this full-sized version for home use. After a month of use, my hair looks smoother, and less dry and brittle. It's also not too loud (I have sensitive hearing) and it dries my hair faster than an other dryers I've had (most recently the Panasonic NanoE) without using high heat.

People have commented on the buttons being in a place that makes it too easy to accidentally turn it off, or change the heat setting, and while this is a bit of a problem, being left-handed, I have yet to find a dryer that doesn't do that for me. So, what else is new? I'll adapt as I always do. It just such a great job on my hair, I don't care about the placement of the buttons enough to make it a big deal.

Of note, most hair dryers have the handles angled in such a way (i.e., away from the drying end) that it causes you have to hold your arm up at an exaggerated angle to dry your own hair, which causes your arm to tire out quickly. I don't know why so many brands do this, because most dryers on the market are for home-use/self-use. However, the Babyliss Pro handle is angled toward the drying end (see the product photo) so you don't have to extend your arm further out at an angle and your arm doesn't tire so easily.

I love this dryer, it's well-made, I'm glad that gave it a try, and it is part of my daily hair regimen.

Yes, the paint faded. The paint did not come off like the pictures of the other purchasers did. It just faded. But my dryer is still performing just like the day I bought it. I dropped it a couple of years ago and the outer screen on the back broke off but the screen that is an integral part of the dryer is still fine. I'd buy it again. And will if and when this one finally dies. Use it about 2-3 times a week to dry my medium thickness hair and daily to heat up my eyelash curler.

I am VERY pleased with this dryer. I have very thick medium/long hair that I stopped blow drying 10 years ago because it would take over 20 minutes...my hair takes hours to air dry even if I towel dry it extremely well. I do blow dry my daughter's hair when it's cold outside. She has multiple disabilities and the sound of my old dryer really bothered her and it took a long time to dry her hair. After researching for a week I decided to spend a little more for a quality dryer and purchased the Babylis Pro BABTT5585 Tourmaline Titanium 3000 Dryer.

I decided to try it on myself first. I timed how long it took for me to go from towel dried to mostly dry (just a tad damp) and it only took THREE MINUTES. I couldn't believe it and actually checked to be sure my clock was working properly. Because it's been so long since I blowed my hair dry I can't say how my hair felt compared to other hair dryers. I CAN say that I didn't feel any difference between my hair after I used this hair dryer and if I let it dry naturally. When I deep conditioned my hair it only took 5 minutes for me to go from dripping wet to slightly damp.

This dryer is not as loud as my other dryer and doesn't have that high pitched sound that bothers my daughter so much. I am able to blow dry her hair quickly without a fraction of the distress my cheap dryer causes.

I am VERY pleased with this purchase and feel it is worth every penny.

High quality dryer and I can definitely tell the difference in my hair compared to using a cheaper drug store dryer. I have very fine hair, live in a dry climate and this dryer helps keep it more smooth with less fly aways.
The reason I gave it a 4 rating is because of the handle. They are flip switches and when I grip the handle it changes the settings or turns it off. I am having to train myself to hold the handle differently. I attached a picture to reference.
***Updated 11/7/16 This dryer is still working perfectly. I have gotten used to the button/switch placement but did take a little time to re-train myself. Would still highly recommend this dryer.

I didn't get this dryer on Amazon, but I felt it was important to leave a review here, as I know it's the first place I go for reviews, no matter where I'm making my purchase. I have been using this hair dryer for a few years. I did really like it because it gets extremely hot and dries hair fast. The problem is it's TOO hot. If you are using it to straighten curly hair, and applying the heat directly on your hair all the time, it will burn your hair. It turned my beautiful, nourished, curly hair into a dry, brittle mess. I am throwing this dryer away and would never recommend it for direct, daily/repeated use.

My daughter has long, thick hair and she swears she can dry her hair in half the time with my dryer rather than hers. The color has faded on the handle but it is not chipping and is in otherwise great shape despite the many drops on the tile floor over the years. When it quits, I will buy another from BaByliss!
