I installed this under our front bow cushion with a dedicated 1000 watt (300 RMS) Alpine amp to it & it's outright fantastic! I've read other customers unsatisfied reviews claiming bad results but "when used with 300 watt amp"... that's like driving a rail road spike with a tack hammer. My point?? 10 inch subs (of any kind) love power & can actually be damaged by low power so don't expect too much out of it if your not willing to put appropriate power to it. We love it & highly recommend it to our friends.

Great sub. i got it to replace an old JL that ive had for about 8 years. its connected to an alpine MRP 350 about the same age. and this thing hits hard makes the whole truck shake. it is a little bigger than the old JL and made it a little hard fitting it in a truck box. but got it in and fits behind the seat in my standard cab mini truck.

I have 2 Alpine Type R 10" subs in a enclosed custom box for my jeep hooked up to a 1000Watt Rockford Fosgate Power with a digital Capicitor with 4AWG wiring and it slaps! I had them in a ported non custom box for my Cadillac STS with Dynamate in the trunk and from the back of the car it still knocked. Make sure u put them in the correct freq and filter or they will not hit as hard. For the price and the sound cant beat it. I used to have kickers and mtx along with some other subs but i stay with Alpine now. I also have a 12" type R but i took it out because of the space and not to mention it was so loud i could barely hear the voices of the songs i was playing. DEFINITLEY BUY THESE SUBS WHETHER 10 OR 12 THEY HIT HARD EXSPECIALLY FOR ONLY PAYING 120 OR SO!

I've had these for a year and 3 months and they are working just fine. I have 3 of them in a sealed box, powered by a 600W RMS kicker amp, and they sound wonderful!

I mounted this under my rear bench seat in the factory spot for a Baja 245. I had it installed with a RF P300-2 running at 300x1 @ 4 ohms and I think it blew in about 4 months. We run the stereo pretty loud most of the time and I don't think we ever got the bass out of the system that we were expecting. Don't know if that is because it was in a free air application or because of it's positioning...

Truly great subwoofer. I have had it for two years now. It is really great nice low bass. I have it in my 2002 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab. Works wonderful. I have it hooked up to the Alpine 500w amplifier, with monster cables. Just loud enough.
PLEASE NOTE: This is not the loudest sub, if you want everyone around you to hear it it will be ok: not the best though. Go for the Alpine R12 if you want that!

I'm running this sub in a sealed box with a Rockford Fosgate 500aII amp. It hits hard and sounds crisp at any volume. Great sub at a great price... highly recommended.

Very good sound for a 10" subwoofer . I have just the one sub , and it rattles the whole trunk of my Camaro. I would recomend this product to anyone.

I purchased one of these subs to install in a friends' pontoon boat. I always go by specs first, then price, then name brand last. The power handling and free-air installation flexibility of this unit sold me, the price is reasonable, and the Alpine name and legendary build quality are just icing. I mounted this 10" sub in a cutout of the fiberglass helm station with the amp inside and the deck above, as this is the only real space available on a pontoon, and let me tell you, along with 2 pair of Legacy outdoor enclosures with a Pyle 2000w amp pushing it all this setup ROCKS! I was skeptical about what kind of sound I would get with everything being exposed but I would go with this combo any day- it rivals some car installs I have done for sound quality and volume. Now I'm looking for an excuse to get a couple more of these subs to put somewhere else.

Wow! Alpine really blew it on this one. Had it hooked up to a infinity reference mono, pushing 457 rms. The sub is rated at 500 rms, but after 2 weeks the sub fried. Got a replacement, and what do ya know, second sub fried. Now i have the amp hooked up to sony xplod 1300 watt, and bumpin with no problems at all.
Overall, this sub is not worth the price tag, and everyone who has been in my car has said the xplod hits way harder than the type r did.

This is a quality sub that performs well and i have experienced no problems with it. I am a little disappointed however, it doesn't have the mind blowing power that one might expect from such an expensive model. Generally, all alpine products i own have lived up to their hype, but i don't notice a big difference between this sub and the one i replaced, which was a sony explode medium range model. I assumed that this alpine would blow away the older sony explode but in reality, i can't notice a lot of differences. I think that this alpine is built well and should last a long time. If i was asked to pay the retail price of 200$ for this model however, i think i would look into buying a different sub.

Well, i've always been a kicker fan. However when one of my friends hooked up his 2 ALPINE TYPE-R subs to an MTX 1500Watt amp in his old suburban. I WAS BLOWN away litterally. these things kick like no other. awsome buy and for the price WHAT A DEAL!!! im even thinking of getting only 1 for my toyota tacoma. its a little powerful for such a small truck but these things ROCK! if any1 has any comments to make on the merchant selling these subs plz advise me if they are legit!

Nicest set of subs I ever owned the bass is tight and punchy and has an overall warm feel to the system, matched these with alpine type r 17ls components and the sound is seemless between the speakers.

The Alpine Type-R subwoofers kick like no other. They are accurate, loud, and they have the ability to shake the rear-view mirror of the car next to you, and move your own.

man these subs slam. i have them hookt up to a 500 watt mono-channel bazooka amp, and it pounds. i dint think that it would be enuf to push these but i was wrong. the subs are in a bandpass enclosure and they are sitting in the back of my '05 tahoe. so far i am very satisfied with these subs.
