After having a 13 in. screen this absolutely great. Pictures lookas if you could walk right into them the color and calarity of the pictures.Everything is so much clearer and does not hurt my eyes after use as ny older one did. Best investment I have made lately.

This monitor is great for the price. I would have given 5 stars if the instructions had been a little better. I was able to figure it out... but a good set of instructions would have been easier.

I bought this monitor on clearance, very excited about the great deal I got. What a disappointment. I didn't like, but accepted the refresh that froze up the screen every single time I exited a game or signed on. What really got me though was the annoying line that formed on the left side of the screen. It caused a discoloration with everything I did, and was very annoying. I would have to unplug the monitor for a couple minutes, then plug it back in to get rid of the line. A couple minutes later though, the line reappeared.I took the monitor back to the store and was told someone else had turned on back in for being faulty. They ordered me a new one, then told me a couple days later that it wasn't made anymore. By the time this is all done and the store orders me an equivilant product, I'll have been without a computer monitor for over a week all because of this lousy monitor.It seems like a good deal for the price, but stay away from Acer.

This monitor is very clear with no distortion and was just what I was looking for at a great price. I had no previous experience with Acer, but would definitely recommend this product to others.

this is my first flat screne monitor so i dont have much to base it off of but in my opinion its awesome. the quality is amazing and the shipping was almost overnight even though i asked for standard

I'm not sure what some of the other reviewers are complaining about. I have none of the problems about which they are complaining:--the colors are by no means washed out--there is no edge shimmer or any other shimmer--color syncing to other monitors is spot on--color accuracy seems very good, but I have not evaluated this thoroughlyI use this monitor with a DVI cable and maybe that is why my experience is so much better than that of others.This is the best monitor I've ever had and it cost far less than the most expensive monitor that I've purchased (albeit many years ago).Although I do plan to buy an additional monitor that is professional grade for digital photo work, I also plan to buy another one of these monitors.

I'm buying this for my X61 laptop. It definitely beats the thinkpad screen in the brightness, contrast and picture quality. The color is vivid and the pictures are very sharp. Great monitor!

I liked this monitor - easy to set up, looked fantastic. Unfortunately, I woke up one morning and it wouldn't display anything. Looked online and found out this problem was all too common - the power supplies fail on Acer products. After having to return my kid's Thomas toys and my pet food, this is just another "Made In China" disaster for me.

I bought this monitor to replace a small CRT model. Prior to this purchase, I bought an Optiquest for my computer at the office. That one was not a widescreen model. I bought this Acer because of its price, not because of the widescreen aspect.I don't like the Acer as well as the Optiquest. As others have pointed out, the colors seem washed out compared to the Optiquest, and there is a very annoying shimmer at the edges of all of the windows you open up.It's certainly an improvement over the CRT machine, but I really think you can do better with a different brand/model. I bought this machine online. Monitors may be something best checked out in person before one makes the decision whether to buy it or not.Mildly recommended, mainly based on price.

I bought this monitor for my two boy's computer this past Christmas, based on a couple of reviews---but mainly based on the price. Mostly I swear by Samsung flat panels and the Acer name is hardly the one I think of for top-drawer components....But the monitor beat all of my expectations. It features both impressive top resolution and good brightness/clarity. The cheap features are mostly the lack of extra utilities and adjustment in the base. It doesn't swivel or tilt or do height adjustment.Other than that, though, it's been a rock solid monitor.

I bought this monitor to be used on my Windows 2000 machine. It turns out this monitor works perfectly only at 1440X900 resolution. (as a 19" inch wide screen, this resolution is like a standard). And there is no driver for Windows 2000.Acer web site only has the driver for Windows XP. I understand the limitation of technical. So, it is fine if there is no support for Windows 2000.I end up buying a new XP PC from Dell ($460) to use with this monitor.However, I posted a question to Acer to ask about a Windows 2000 driver.There is no reply. Later, I asked another question (through email) to Acer. And there is no reply again. I am very disappointed with this lack of customer support. If the company doesn't care about a customer, I am not going to buy any more product from them.After all, the monitor is excellent. But what if something goes wrong and I need technical support.

For $200, I guess it's pretty okay. It's bright and big, which is really all I thought I wanted. It isn't quite as sharp as I'd hoped, and no matter how hard I try I can't get the colors to match my MacBook display. I'm pretty picky though.But here's the real problem: Right out of the box, my monitor has a dead pixel. It isn't even off in the corner; it's right smack dab in the middle of the screen. The Acer website is pretty easy to navigate and I got a warentee ticket submitted right away, but now I have to send the monitor to Texas to get it fixed. Lame. Still, I can't say I wouldn't recommend this monitor to a friend who couldn't afford something a little bit nicer.

I have other Acer monitors and love them all. This one is bright and clear just like the others. I did overlook the native resolution of 1400x900. 100% my fault. Be careful if you want to use its full capabilities. Many laptops don't go this high. I bought this to go with a laptop. My new Toshiba laptop only goes up to 1280x800. I had to back my laptop video down to 1024x768 to show the task bar. And, of course, everything is larger and there is less on the screen than if it was running at 1400x900. It appears many higher end desktop pc video cards have 1400x900 as a resolution selection. I'm mildly disappointed but I probably would have bought it anyway. An excellent value for the money. But if you want to use this for tasks where you can fit a maximum amount onto the screen, be sure your pc's video card has 1400x900 resolution as a selection.

This is a pretty good monitor, haven't noticed any backlighting issues and there were no dead pixels in the two I bought. Resolution is nice and the 5ms refresh rate means you can use it for games without any problem.The only problem I found is that this monitor doesn't have a DVI input. Although the description doesn't mention the monitor having one (which would have changed my rating to zero since it would have been a lie), its not something you look carefully at, as one would expect a 19W monitor to have a DVI input by default.You can buy an adapter for that, but it just feels like a blemish on an otherwise excellent product.

This is not the quality I expected from Acer. It came with a bad pixel. Do not buy this model. Go for the AL1916WABD, thats the newer model to this that also comes with DVI port. 3 Stars because the monitor is great otherwise. The base could be sturdier but I don't see that as a problem because it won't topple over unless you really hit it hard. This would have been so great if it did not have that bad pixel. The auto adjust functions work well, even with games and movies.

There are many comments about how people can't get the correct 1440 x 900 aspect ratio with this monitor... but the problem is not with the monitor nor is it with the drivers. The problem is with their video card / adapter. Just make sure your video adapter allows you to view 1440 x 900 and this monitor will work great. It's a nice minotor with excellent resolution... HD stuff looks great on it and it's hard to beat the price.

I am more than satisfied with the product. I am not using a DVI capable video card, so the lack of DVI doesn't bother me. You see many 17 inch non-widescreen lcds going for more. Once you go widescreen though, you can never go back. The only thing to be wary of is at the highest resolution (1440 x 900) you are limited to a 60 hz refresh rate. People with fast eyes may get annoyed at the scanlines that sometimes appear.

Very happy with purchase. Monitor doubles as a primary monitor for a Mac G2 as well as a secondary monitor for a Dell Notebook.No problems detected, no flaws noticed. Just an average user getting good value in this product.

I bought two of these monitors for Christmas gifts for my parents. They've both called me to tell me that they love all of their newfound space on their desks and how great the picture is! Would highly recommend this as a gift for someone else, or yourself.

Another great product from Acer! I use to own an Acer Aspire laptop, which I recently sold to purchase my mac mini. I am using this monitor with the mac mini and I love it. I have had no problems and the quality is great.

So far my organization has ordered 90+ of these monitors and everyone seems to love them! Not a one has come in with any issues and we have been using them for approximately 6 weeks. We purchased in bulk from CDW and still paid more than this price, so this is a terrific opportunity to get a good office use LCD at a great price. Spreadsheets look awsome and now it is much easier to split my widows on my screen
