I love this thing!
It cuts though 1/8" mild steel effortlessly, 1/4" easily, but obviously more slowly. (I used it today to cut up my old water softener so I could throw it away. It went through that like a hot knife through butter.) The no-tools blade change is a pleasure, too. Bottom line: the tool is a bit pricey, but worth it. One nice touch: it comes standard with a type-1 shroud adapter for steel cutting (an $18 extra on Dewalts).
Amazon note: Much as I love this thing, I would have loved it that much more if they had sent me a new one, or at least a clean one. All evidence suggests that this one was in fact new, but had been returned by a previous buyer for some reason. The dirt and smudges on the handle and controls was a tip-off. It functioned well, and the air filter was clean, so I made no stink about it.

Wow this thing is a beast ! You get what you pay for. This thing has some power if your not holding on when you turn it on...it could jump out of your hands. It does an amazing job on grinding down my welding jobs without any bogging down. I will update if I have any problems but I see this one of the tools I hand down to my kids !

I wish I had bought one of these decades ago.
I wish I had bought one of these decades ago. So much more power and speed than a 4-1/2" angry grinder. I put off a lot of metalwork because of how long it takes to cut/prep all the parts, but this makes short work of it all. I can buzz through a 1" x 3-1/2" flat bar in about 30 seconds.

Double check that you get the 6” and not the 5”
Says it is a 6”, I received a 5”. Bought it as a backup so I didn’t catch the mistake until the return window was closed. Works great like a metabo does, just hard on it spinning the bigger wheels.

Metabo cutoff grinder
Product is less than 2 months old and the internal brushes and gears have came apart. Not our first metabo cutoff grinder, but is by far the shortest life span we have had with one with little to medium use rate.

Go Metabo!
I had not really used a chop saw like this much before, but I needed something good to deconstruct a mobile home with all its i-beams, metal trusses and metal roof. This is a great heavy duty tool and easy enough to control. Sliced through the i-beams like a hot knife through butter. Of course, buy plenty of blades if you've got a lot to work on. I only ever broke one abrasive blade. The rest just wore down as one would expect for such work.

My choice for a steel cutting tool
I spent a lotta time deciding what kind of all-purpose cutting tool I needed. Weighed oxy-acetylene vs plasma cutter and finally decided on the metabo 6-in. I cut a half-inch piece of plate in less than five minutes, with no slag to clean up with a grinder. Sometimes the simple solutions are best.
