Why 3 stars & not 5?
This is a replacement for my first order of this item which was delivered in a similar flexible, soft-sided envelop and arrived broken into two pieces. Who knows where along the line from initial pick for shipment to delivery, but apart from the annoyance and disappointment of receiving damaged goods, Amazon made the return and replacement practically effortless.
Though packaged exactly like the damaged one, the replacement arrived in good shape, but closer inspection revealed that it is missing one of four small leveling set screws. While not a major problem to replace, it is the need to do so that is the issue and reason for the lower rating. This is a ding for lack of quality control rather than for performance.
A very few other reviewers of this insert were consistent in noting that their insert arrived with a variety of flaws or discrepancies. This made me suspect the quality control of the manufacturer, and that perspective has been sustained by the missing set screw and poor factory & shipping packaging. Amazon should share some of the criticism here for sending an easily damaged part in such a flimsy envelop.
Otherwise, the replacement appears to be in cosmetically original factory condition, flat, and it fits as intended. There are no apparent structural flaws other than the missing set screw.
However,it seems to me that the basic design of the insert along with its brittle pot metal-like material make it inherently vulnerable to being easily snapped in two if dropped, bent or stepped on under unfavorable conditions. I suspect that this insert will need to be handled with some degree of reasonable care in order to survive for very long in an active working environment.

Quality item
I really like this Dado insert. Its made from quality steel and has good weight to it. It fits my Metabo table saw perfectly and has the standard lock insert to secure the insert. I am very pleased would definitely buy from this company again

It is what it is
Plate is well built but how it's packaged and shipped is terrible. Arrives in less than new looking shape with finish scratches and some metal nicks. First one I returned as it was clearly used and returned before. Second arrived looking like it was used for floor hockey. At least it's straight with no functional damage. Both metabo and amazon share responsibility for not taking simple steps to protect items for shipping because usps will never care. 4 stars for plate and 1 star each to metabo and amazon.

Works but check the item if you don’t need it asap
Not sure if this was used, or if the Qi is just down right horrible. If I didn’t need this ASAP I’d return it. The finish on it is garbage but it works for my saw and unfortunately it’s what I need. If I had the time to my own I would but I don’t.

packaging
The product is very nice but the lack of packaging is the issue, the material came to me in a box with other product we purchased but guide plate was in a very thin zip lock bag it comes with set screws and they all came out rolled around and the treads I had to clean up to thread them in to the plate the screws must have been rolling around on the plate and the plate is all scratched up, maybe ship with the set screws in a separate zip lock bag and wrap the plate to cushion any bouncing

Poor quality
Pictured is how the throat plate came out of the box. It is just held to the casting with double sided carpet tape. No support to prevent the plate from coming into contact with the blade. I guess you get what you pay for.

Works great on the table saw and i didnt have to build one myself. if only they offered a zero clearance plate you could buy.

Poor craftsmanship
Was excited to finally get a dado plate for my saw; but.... Poor craftsmenship. Metal plate is not straight and protrudes causing a potential dangerous situation. Wood will get stuck on the lip.
