The worst problem with this motherboard is that the 6 SATA ports are completely covered and inaccessible when a fairly large graphics card is installed. I realized this too late and had to remove the graphics card to get to the SATA ports. Power cabling for the CPU was also questionable. Also, a lot of connections are not well marked on the motherboard nor in the accompanying manual.

出品の方ではなくアマゾンの方から購入しましたがマザーボードの飾りに貼られている保護シートに指紋がいくつかあったのと一部は拭き取った跡がついていますね。
取説もしわがあるしコースターやDVDディスクが取説のページの間に挟んであったり表紙やDVDディスクにも傷もありますね。
マザーボードは袋に入っていないのは元からかわかりませんが新品を素手で扱って指紋をつけるってあることなのか…。
これだけでは返品してもしょうがないのでこのままですが安物じゃないんだから。
CPUをこれから買うので不具合はまだわかりませんが今まで新品に指紋がついていたことなかったので少し不安です。

やっと念願のROG MAXIMUS XI FORMULAを入手できました。
もう生産してないので、倍近いプレミア価格で買うか中古品しかないのですが、今回、展示未使用品の中古が定価より安く入手できました。ショーケース展示品なので開封済みですが新品です。
届いてからすぐにBIOSをアップデートしてi9 9900KとRTX2080SUPERで組んでみました。
さすがハイエンドなだけあって存在感があります。
AURA SYNCで光モノも同期させれるので統一感がだせます。
ただ、マザボのLEDはそんなに明るくないです。
マザボ上のOLEDはわざわざソフトを立ち上げなくてもCPU温度がわかるので便利です。
M.2も最初からヒートシンクが付いているのがよいですね。
最近のPCケースは5インチベイが無い物が多いのでディスクメディアを使わずにドライバーをインストールできる機能があるのはよいですね。
最後に、USBピンのプラスチックカバーが抜けやすいので星－1、コネクタの破損防止策だと思いますがびっくりしたので。
今までずっとASUSのマザボを使ってきましたがどれも良い製品ばかりでした。
今後は折角VRM周りの水枕が付いているので本格水冷にしたいと思います。

I came to conclusion that the unit that Amazon shipped to me is defected and two transistors is lose and I found them in the box. I contacted amazon and replaced the unit, unfortunately I won't be able to test till I after I come back from holiday 10/1.
What I would like to add that I contacted Asus support L1, 2, & 3 and I would like to share some of the informations which it might be alarming for some.
NVME: they confirmed that this MB is only tested with 850 Samsung, so they have no reference to 960 & 970 PRO.
Gpu: GeForce Aorus 1080ti is not tested
Fans: if fans runn at full speed this means that you are connecting them to the Aux and yoh can't calliberate that.
When I knew that Asus didn't do any test on nvme Samsung 960 and 970 pro, and 1080ti I was like what wrong with them!!! This MB is released in 2018 Q4, and you are testing it using 850ssd!!!
I will update more as soon as I open the other box and let you know.

This board by far the worst motherboard I have bought ever, its more like Plug and Pray instead of Plug and Play.
I upgraded from Strix 270e and i7 7700k to ASUS ROG Maximus XI Formula with i9 9900k and boy I regret it.
Bios is horrible and conflicting with Aorus Waterforce 1080ti, I'm not able to run the workstation...
Basically bios take nearly 2 minutes to load showing (GPU Loading) on MB screen, and after few mins only keyboard and mouse start!!! In many times it just hang and I have to wait hours to try again to get bios to load.
What went wrong:
The system refused to work on my earlier Windows setup, I tried fixing windows loading option and failed, the only way was to format my m. 2 960 Pro and install windows again and lose all my data 😢.
I have long experience with Asus MB but this bios is bad, it's Conflicting with the GPU and fans.
GPU: basically the gpu displayport output is not working my Samsung 49" CHG90 QLED Gaming Monitor.
It was working fine on my Strix 270e with no issue.
I noticed that the driver of display is generic monitor, I checked online for all sorts of solutions from forcing the driver and u deleting driver, changing nvidia driver and updating wi. Dows, all the way to format and fresh install the system 4 times without any result.
HDMI do work Sometimes, and most of the times bios fail to load if the gpu is connected!!! With displayport!!! Still couldn't figure this out...
M. 2 nvme: I have Samsung 960 Pro 512, it was working fine on the other board, this bios does not recognize it, it recognize it as HDD, I can't install the original driver stating there is no nvme installed!!! Tried all possible ways in bios and no solution.
It has issue working by itself, after I switch the worstation off in 30sec it start by itself. I changed some settings in bios and it stopped.
Fans:
On start, they work at full speed, very loud.
I tried to callibrate the fans In bios in both modes low/high speeds, however the Thermaltake fans LED stopped working, and corsair fans continued at full speed!!!
Missing items:
It's mentioned in the installation manual that there is accessories and mounts to mount the board, however I was not able to find them!!! Luckily I used my earlier board accessories. But I want to contact Amazon about that.
Strange: I found two small lose transistors in the box, between the paper gaps, couldn't tell if it's spare item or broken part of the MB!!!
This is my first finding of this MB, missing items, bios is all over the place, Gpu 1080ti not compatible and fans calibrations issue.
I don't recommend anyone to buy it, till Asus release couple of firmware to fix all these bugs and assure that it's working fine.

I bought this board for a all out build, 250gig M.2 boot drive, standard SSD drive, 32g Trident Z ram, H150i AIO, RTX2070, i78700k@5.0ghz, all tucked into a Coolermaster SL600m case, and this board has held up to it with no issues at all.
Be mindful, when you 1st boot your system your rig will turn off and on a couple times as it gets the memory training calibrated.
Drivers are simple and to the point, nothing to fancy here. Bois controls are detailed and easy enough for even novices to navigate.
VRM's stay cooler then on my previous board.
Look wise it is stunning, and the material and sheer quality is unparalleled, it feels like a block of steel.
Has TONS of features, plenty of expandability.
For the price, I would say it is worth it, but this isn't for everyone, there are features on this that many would probably never use. However if you are looking for a "best of the best", this might be for you.
Overall, very pleased with this Motherboard.

I just did a new build with this thing. The OLED thingy is way cooler than I had hoped. All the stuff works well and it's really easy to overclock. I don't mean using the ASUS automatic overclocker either, I mean doing it all manually.
I ran into one problem when I installed everything. If I have a graphics card installed then I can't get into the UEFI screen at boot. Right now it just goes straight into windows. No complaints because I can use an HDMI cord and unplug the graphics card if I really need to get into the UEFI. That took some time to understand though.
I'm really happy with this board. I would purchase this again.
I ran into one problem when I installed everything. If I have a graphics card installed then I can't get into the UEFI screen at boot. Right now it just goes straight into windows. No complaints because I can use an HDMI cord and unplug the graphics card if I really need to get into the UEFI. That took some time to understand though.
I'm really happy with this board. I would purchase this again.

First motherboard had a bad BIOS and few other issues. The reason I rated tech support one star has nothing to do with Amazon support but has everything to do with Asus tech support. Long story short, Asus tech support (all in India) determined after less than a month of use that the MB was bad, they said "send the MB to us and we will repair it and get it back to you in 7 to 10 business days." I write computer code and am in front of the computer 5 or 6 days a week writing code, i.e. mission critical machine so waiting that amount of time to get the board back was not a viable option. I asked if they could cross ship, they said yes, if they had the board in stock, which they didn't sticking to their guns that I had to send it back to them. BTW, they said if they were unable to repair it, that they would replace it, the replacement MB however would be a refurbished MB, not a new MB, which to me was unacceptable.
I contacted Amazon support, they quickly cross shipped a replacement, I swapped the boards out and it has been running great since then. I highly recommend it to anyone who has high end components and want a fast machine.
What I am running, Intel i9 9900 CPU with a Corsair Water cooling system, 64GB Kingston HyperX Black RAM, EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 graphics card, Samsung 860 EVO 1TB primary drive and a Samsung 860 QVO 2TB secondary drive for storage, all powered by a Corsair RM1000X 1000 Watt power supply. To get the most out of this type high end hardware you need a motherboard like the Asus Maximus XI Formula.
A quick note, if you have anything less than an i7 or it's equivalent processor in you computer, this motherboard would be overkill, you will see little if any performance increase.
I also highly recommend the motherboard, and it woks great for VR (Oculus Rift).
I contacted Amazon support, they quickly cross shipped a replacement, I swapped the boards out and it has been running great since then. I highly recommend it to anyone who has high end components and want a fast machine.

So far I've had no issues with this main board. I get 5.1 on all cores (9900k) stable so far and no issues with the VRMs. Maybe I'm missing something. The mirror finish scratches wicked easy and I learned the hard way the chrome on the VRM water block comes off with alcohol. The bios is intuitive but the ai overclock is a little too optimistic (5.2 on all cores at 1.3, no way). Other than that I have no complaints.

I've been holding on my Intel i9-9900K upgrade just for this board, it was sold out for a long time. As soon it was available for its MSRP price as it should be, I quickly bought it. The board's quality is what you paid for, beautiful polished metal, Fully plated front to back and the awesome OLED screen. Had no issues with bios updating, startups, and overclocking. Would recommend if you're looking for a high end motherboard that just doesn't work excellent but look great doing it too in your rig!

Awesome motherboard packed with tons of features that make over clocking very easy! The only problem is I wish that the manual was a little more detailed and the motherboard had extra Sata ports! Other than that I’m extremely pleased!

The Asus software, armoury crate is a nightmare for Aura sync. It renders the motherboard useless with ram errors, issues with waking up, and chewing through resources. I've built over 60 PCs in my lifetime, and these latest motherboards promising features like RGB and custom OLED displays, gaming features. Since Windows update 1903, both LiveDash and Aura Sync has been a major pain, they don't work at all. The broken software consumes 15 percent of the CPU, 9900ks. Ram errors on start up, sleep, and shut down in the Q code. The tipping point was when my Aura sync games like COD bo4, COD mw refused load after the Aura software was installed. Apps blocked by administrator started. Forced me to wipe windows and start over. Good luck with tech, everything needs to be ran up to an engineer and you'll never get a follow-up. Don't expect probing questions or troubleshooting steps. It's a simple question from the tech, did you install the latest software from Asus, armoury crate. Is your bios updated, and your windows updated. After that, your on your own and Asus will try to RMA the motherboard when the hardware is absolutely fine, proved to function when separate older software is installed. I don't know why it's so hard for them to create a ticket to a developer. However they won't. I point out blogs with others posting for help, going back a year to now, exact same issue and Asus tech complete ignores it on my 15th call into Asus. 30+ hours on the phone, Part time job except I'm not getting paid to waste my time. No care to resolve it, Amazon didn't want to return it after the complaint. Maximus xi is nearing a year old, Asus isn't invested in updating their old mobos software.

The product is easily the most beautiful motherboard on the market, that’s simple enough. Unless you plan on doing a custom liquid loop you miss out on the enhanced VRM cooling capabilities BUT there’s plenty of IO, the LCD is more useful than I had anticipated, and it’s overall just an amazing unit if you want to pretty up a high end build and do some mild overclocking.
Only downside I have with it is the advertising images show the RGB on the board much more vivid and bright than it actually is.

After finally coming home from over the road, looking forward to my next water-cooled build. Come to find the Asus Maximus XI formula I paid over $400 for gives me
CPU ERROR CODE 00, flashes lights constantly, and will not even make it to post... Extremely disappointing Asus.
update: board began smoking, haven't attempted to power since. Can't even power the board now.

I did a complete new build, I looked at what was available to house the new Intel Core i9-9900K Desktop Processor 8 Cores up to 5.0 GHz Turbo unlocked LGA1151 300 Series and this MB fit the bill. The best bang for the buck at time of purchase in May, 2019 This had room for everything I wanted in the build, making it hard to see with everything installed. With the processer, I haven't found anything yet to slow it down......Yet. I didn't rate tech support, because I haven't needed it.

I had purchased this motherboard for my first PC build, and I am glad to say I had no problems with the board other than understanding where the m.2 slots were hidden, and where to plug in certain fans. I built the board with a I9-9900KS processor, 32 GB of ram (overkill), 2080 TI NVIDIA graphics card, 970 evo 1 TB SSD, and 2 2 TB HDD (wanted to try a raid setup). I am pleased with the motherboard as it is compatible with all the other parts used in the build, and I would recommend it if it is within your budget and spec parameters.

Upon installation the motherboard gives an "Processor" Error code, reboots itself, then boots up perfectly fine after that until it's powered down and powered on again.
When I contacted ASUS about it they advised there is a problem with the motherboard and I need to send it in for warranty repair. Not only is the customer responsible for providing the packing materials to properly and safely pack the devide (since they recommend not using factory packaging since you won't get it back), they also have to pay the shipping costs to have the defective device they were provided in the first place repaired. Horrible customer service all around, from the RMA process to the mostly canned (template) responses that don't address or even take into account the information you provided them. I would avoid any ROG equipment all together after this experience.

It’s expensive, it works as advertised. It’s an Asus MB, so it’s reliable as far as I’m concerned. The only issue/question I have is whether or not this board I got was new. Other MB I’ve bought had a security sticker on the box and the board is usually wrapped in anti-static wrap... mine was not. There were scratches on the protective tape they put on the board. Just have a feeling it might have been returned and sold to me. This is probably an Amazon problem or Asus maybe.
