"Bang" for your buck
I bought all the 3 speakers from Marshall during the Prime day sale and i have to say that the Acton packs a punch for its size.
A lot of you might complain that this has no battery and stuff but i see it this way, the less you pay for other features, the more quality you get on the main features.
When compared with the Woburn 2, the Acton 2 feels like its baby. It's so much smaller (Trust me). But don't let the size cloud your judgement cos that speaker packs a hell of a punch. The bass is really good and it's enough to fill a room. It can fit into the smallest of places and just looks beautiful wherever you place it.
And it's good for movie watching too!
If you want my final review on all 3 speakers, i'd say, if you have a really are willing to spend on a bomb of a speaker, go for the Woburn 2 though honestly, you can't put it to it's full capacity in a house cos the Woburn 2 can get pretty damn loud and its a bit heavy and takes a good lot of space. The Stanmore 2 is the most practical and my personal favorite of the lot. It's not too big and not too small and the audio quality is simply superb and the bass is WOW. If you can't go for the Stanmore 2, just wait for another sale on Amazon but if it's really off your budget, then don't think too much and just go for the Acton 2. You're actually not losing out on much.

Awesome Aesthetic Piece!!
This is the most awesome decor piece I owned till now. And the sound quality is amazing. It’s good for a master bedroom or even for a hall. It looks classy. Music drives my day, and mornings have just gotten better with marshal... The crisp beats, the clarity and the amazing base makes every song better to hear. My experience with marshal has been mind-blowing and i definitely recommend music lovers to grab one of these.

Detailed review - For the true budding audiophile..!
I had been reading about various speakers for almost a year and the more I researched the more I was loving Marshall. From their entire lineup, I liked Acton 2 the best(it's compact, best fit for a medium sized apartment). Even after reading up quite a bit, I wasn't sure(how does one buy a speaker without listening to one?). So I decided to trust the brand(Marshall is iconic. Owning it is like owning a piece of music history). Finally bought this in the Amazon sale 2020 with a decent deal.
Connected it to my TV in the hall and played the 1st song.. And man did it impress me! The highs are sharp, mids are crystal clear and lows are thumping. No distortion at any volume. Plus what I loved about is its simplicity. No complicated process to setup (you can get going in 5mins) and the speaker knows what to do without your help so no music engineering required(although the app has a decent equalizer). I ended up listenening to it the whole day.
The audiophile in me realized that a single acton 2 is actually perfect for a bedroom(so if this is what you want go for it blindly) but for the hall, the music although good was getting lost in the large space. Now although Marshall doesn't market it enough, the 2nd line up that they have actually has this amazing feature where you can pair speakers with each other and make it ambient or stereo (same sound from both speakers or L and R) from the Marshall app. That had me sold.. So I went ahead and bought one more and set it up such that one is in front next to the TV and one behind equidistant from the Central listener(this is important to get the right mix, speaker placement is key to the final feel. Effectively you should be the focal point of all speakers). Finally achieved great surround sound in my hall and can listen to theater quality music without stepping out.
Points one should know before buying this - 1. This isn't for an amateur who wants to carry a boom box up the hills to impress his friends. It's heavy and quite immobile. Go for a jbl boom box or something on those lines if this is what you want.
2. Buy series 2 even if you get series 1 on discount. It's not just some marketing gimmick.. There's a big difference b/w each speaker of both series.
3. Marshall has a portable line up as well (kilburn, etc). Those are still heavier than most portable speakers so weight is your only concern don't buy them.
4. Like the tag of this review says, a Marshall is for a true blue budding audiophile. This is your stepping stone to Yamaha, Klipsh, polke, wharfedale and the likes. If you buy it, you'll hopefully learn to appreciate music as an art of engineering and creativity. So best of luck and happy Marshall-ing to you.

The most beautiful speaker ever!
It’s been years since I had been using Bose and thought of taking this plunge to move to Marshall’s. The Acton II far exceeded my expectations. The sound quality is very good. The aesthetics are icing on the cake and the speaker looks beautiful, a piece of art in itself. The only thing you must know is that the exterior is all leather and so if you are one of those who takes good care of their stuff, this is the speaker to buy.

The speaker is nothing what it suggests
The speaker seemed to br hyped on the reviews. In comparison to the JBL boombox the speaker is absolutely poor. All the youtube reviewers have gone ga-ga over these comparisons giving Marshall full marks in all departments, but I disagree. I was ashamed when i opened and tested the product with the JBL aside. Either the product is really weak or I have been supplied with a fake. Now I have asked for a replacement only to be given the model (this time another one), sadly i am stuck with this and I hope the new model keeps it's word and performs.
The sound quality is absolutely flat and the analog controls do not work after 50 percent noise reduction. it seems like they are button fitted to enhance the outer aesthetics of the speaker. The Marshal app. does not make any difference to the sound output, in fact your phone dsnt connect through the app, but rather directly through the bluetooth button on the speaker and you will take a while to realise it. I was eagerly waiting for my first expensive bluetooth speaker for years now, and this has ruined my dream.

Not better than JBL Xtreme 2
I have JBL Xtreme 2, Sony SRS xb 30, after that I bought it for better performance among these but I was wrong bcz sound quality of JBL Xtreme 2 is awesome.( In my Marshall Action II volume level of 50%is like 20% after increasing vol 70 to 90% it give real sound but not better then jbl Xtreme 2).Even my sony speaker easly beats it at 60%vol. At last I to want to say that somebody invest more for better sound quality . It deserve 3 🌟 only....

A gorgeous speaker
Love the iconic Marshall brand elements that are added to the speaker, and the way Marshall has delivered an aesthetically pleasing and powerful speaker with tactile and digital features. The compact size is perfect for my side table, and the colour is beautiful!
Would have liked it if, for the price paid, the speaker came in a wireless format.
Sometimes, when toggling between music apps and other apps (Instagram, for example) the speaker stops playing audio from the music app, even though the music player on my phone is running (the time bar is moving). I have to disconnect and reconnect the speaker to my phone's Bluetooth, which is a bit annoying.
I recommend this speaker if you love all things Marshall. If not, I suggest opting for the Bose Soundlink Revolve Bluetooth Speaker - a portable wireless powerhouse of a speaker for a lesser price, yet from a first-class audio brand.

I couldn't believe how much power comes out of this tiny speaker. The setup was a little tricky at times since there seems to be a lack of instructions but once I downloaded the Marshall Voice App, it guided me through everything pretty easily. And yes, this speaker is automatically integrated with Alexa and you do NOT need an echo/ echo dot to use the Alexa feature. The speaker IS Alexa -- that's the coolest part! Vintage flare with a modern twist.

I’m trying to be impartial about my review but I’m just kind of disappointed. When I see “download this app” in the instruction manual I start to get pissed off. I shouldn’t need a smart phone to be able to use speakers. What’s the app gonna do anyway? Equalize the sound, again?
It sounds great. That’s all I really wanted so maybe I assumed for 300 bucks this would be the way to go... it’s trying to be too much. The pros are that it sounds great. The cons are everything else. I also bought a JBL waterproof outdoor unit at the same time and I’m very happy with it and actually prefer it to this guy, and here’s why:
I assumed I’d be able to plug this in and I’d be paying for the design with excellent sound quality. Apparently you’re just buying the Marshall brand and Alexa. If you’re not using this with Alexa do not buy it. If you’re buying because of Alexa buy it used. It took me thirty minutes just to get it to connect to my phone.
You can’t charge it. So when it’s unplugged it’s off. For 300 bucks they could have put a lithium ion battery in here. The electrical wire it comes with is in a really annoying place so when it’s plugged it has to stick out of the wall by about three inches, which is really annoying in a lot of situations. And then setting up the WiFi or the Bluetooth... you can’t just find this and sync it with your phone. You have to install the app and keep clicking activate until it syncs. And it’s the same if you have Alexa. If you get disconnected from Bluetooth it takes several minutes to get back on. So if you’re coming home and want to listen to tunes you have to take the time to sync it up again. I don’t own a Bluetooth device where that’s what it takes to use it every time.
It’s all app driven and you can see the awful reviews from the app.
I would send this back and buy another JBL but I did buy this because of the looks and that’s the only reason I’m not returning it. I could have bought a really nice real stereo for what I paid for this. Actually maybe I will send it back and go get something local... I never return stuff, if that gives you an idea of how not picky I am and just how annoyed I am. This thing has a ton of potential!

The cons are everything else. I also bought a JBL waterproof outdoor unit at the same time and I’m very happy with it and actually prefer it to this guy, and here’s why:
I assumed I’d be able to plug this in and I’d be paying for the design with excellent sound quality. Apparently you’re just buying the Marshall brand and Alexa. If you’re not using this with Alexa do not buy it. If you’re buying because of Alexa buy it used. It took me thirty minutes just to get it to connect to my phone.
You can’t charge it. So when it’s unplugged it’s off. For 300 bucks they could have put a lithium ion battery in here. The electrical wire it comes with is in a really annoying place so when it’s plugged it has to stick out of the wall by about three inches, which is really annoying in a lot of situations. And then setting up the WiFi or the Bluetooth... you can’t just find this and sync it with your phone. You have to install the app and keep clicking activate until it syncs. And it’s the same if you have Alexa. If you get disconnected from Bluetooth it takes several minutes to get back on. So if you’re coming home and want to listen to tunes you have to take the time to sync it up again. I don’t own a Bluetooth device where that’s what it takes to use it every time.
It’s all app driven and you can see the awful reviews from the app.
I would send this back and buy another JBL but I did buy this because of the looks and that’s the only reason I’m not returning it. I could have bought a really nice real stereo for what I paid for this. Actually maybe I will send it back and go get something local... I never return stuff, if that gives you an idea of how not picky I am and just how annoyed I am. This thing has a ton of potential!

This speaker is awesome, sound quality is great, style is what I wanted as I am a guitar player that loves the nostalgic of guitar speaker, and has the Alexa smart feature. Overall I love this speaker, however the only issue is the iOS app. I had trouble activating the Alexa feature through my iphone. It kept saying my wifi password is incorrect and would not let me proceed to connecting the wifi. I thought it was a speaker malfunction so I even requested a new unit through amazon, but ended with the same problem. I tried everything, and even contacted customer support which provided no actual solution. I eventually figured out it was a problem with iphone iOS. I borrowed my roomate andriod phone and activated the wifi app with no issue. After the firmware upgrade to the speaker I was able to connect with my iphone. I hope the company will fix this issue with the software bug.

The Alexa functionality of this is basically useless, and will give you problems the ENTIRE time. It can barely "hear" you, and will not do anything except act as a bluetooth speaker. there are without question less expensive models of bluetooth speaker which you can get that will end up with the same sound (which is, admittedly, pretty good) but without the functionality. The Alexa portion died about 15 months in and they wouldn't do anything to help me whatsoever. SEEK SOMETHING ELSEWHERE.

This speaker looks amazing, the design is really well done and it feels really solid. But in my opinion as a speaker for the price they are asking I did imagine it would have the ability to be louder than it is. From 10-60% it is quiet enough that if people are talking it drowns out the sound of the speaker almost entirely. Even maxed out, while loud, its not as loud as I expected. Seems kind of odd for a 300$ speaker, but perhaps my expectations were a bit off.
As a countertop speaker in the kitchen, which is what I am using it for, it does look really nice. I just wished it had the capability to be louder.

while it is pricey, it's worth it! i waited for this item to go on sale on black friday and finally decided to get it. literally is SO BEAUTIFUL and i never thought i would say that about a speaker but this one is gorgeous and looks amazing in the corner of my bedroom.
i used to play music on an amazon alexa and opted for this when i saw it had alexa built in. the sound quality difference was INSANE and i would recommend this to anyone who is willing to invest in it. it's through and through my favorite way to listen to music.

I really wanted to like this item-it's great looking, the sound quality is fantastic for its size and it's reasonably priced. The only issue-which for me was a big one considering it's why I purchased this item, is the smart command feature....It constantly lost connectivity with the wifi, stating "I'm sorry, your speaker is not connected." One moment it works flawless the other its a mess....Very intermittent. Unfortunately the Marshall app is no better...full of glitches...doesn't recognize the speaker, etc. Marshall support didn't do much for me either...Save money and just buy the bluetooth version.

I have roughly 20 smart devices in my home, including six echoes, and this is the first product that I've ever not been able to get to online. Gave up after two hours of fighting with the non-intuitive Marshall app and sent back the unit in favor of a non-Alexa version.

The quality of the sound is good. However, the setup is terrible.
Had to chat with tech support people, stumped two of them.
My guess it has firmware / app issues.
Not real happy. sending it back.

As usual Marshall sound is satisfying and conveys the feeling of the music. Looks great an my office shelf. Gave it 4 stars because, despite having alexa incorporated is a nice extra perk, it doesn't seem to be as responsive as it should be. It works anyway . Didn't like that the price went dawn 30 bucks right after I bought it..

Great sound, but it has to stay plugged in all the time! What is the point of making it small enough to travel but not functional as a portable device?Also, the app you have to download is a pain in the a$$. However the sound quality is great— it’s of the only ones out there that allows you to adjust the bass and treble independently! This contributes to an overall sound quality that is very nice. We returned it for a different Marshall model that doesn’t need to stay tethered to the wall.

I use this speaker for my Vizio 24" TV I have in my office den. Works great w/ aux cable. I'll switch to Bluetooth to pair w/ my MacBook to play music. The sound projects well and is better quality than I had expected. Look cool and retro.
