Built like a tank!
I have three of these Tuff Lite knives, two w/serrated blades and one with fine edge. I use them mainly at work to reduce large cardboard containers and for cutting through tough plastic banding-straps. I use the fine edge blade around the house and garage as an EDC for lite to medium duty tasks. These knives are small enough to not attract attention, yet big enough in the handle/finger choil to provide a secure four-finger grip for my sz-large hands. Don't let the small blades fool you, these are like little buzz-saws when cutting through thick cardboard or plastic. The AUS8 blades are easy to clean and sharpen, even the serrated edges, I treat them like a straight edge and run them down both sides of my ceramic sticks, it works! Or you could use the 90-degree edges of your sharpening stones. Build solid to last a lifetime, these knives will outlive me! Thanks Cold Steel for making my job/life easier!

Incredible little cutting machine
Smaller cutting machine. Incredibly strong lock. Cuts through almost anything with ease. I’ll buy a couple of spares for sure.

Great little utility knife.
Bought the fine edge, Tuff Lite, a while back and I keep it clipped in my shirt between the buttons so it's an easy convenient reach for a quick box opening or similar small task without reaching to my belt for a full-sized knife. Now I have the serrated version which I like just as good but doesn't require sharpening as often. These are a little more expensive than other similar-sized knives on the market and AUS8 steel is not my favorite at that price point but cold steel knives with Tri-AD locks tend to be a little more expensive than the competition but they are a proven effective and virtual indestructible product, so I guess you pay a little extra for that peace of mind. To be that strong and reliable using that extemly light weight plastic is actually pretty remarkable. I am just not a fan of AUS8 but cold steel AUS8 seems to retain an edge better and easier to sharpen than AUS8 on my CRKT or Ontario brand knives so they are doing something right over there with their heat treatment or tempering process.

Very secure grip, super tough knife!!!!
I have the serrated model, it stays sharp forever. I sharpened it twice, but I only did to experiment with sharpening serrations. It sharpened fine with a sharp maker. This blade is crazy tough!! I have cut through the following materials: heavy cardboard, tape, wood, heavy plastic, rope, soda cans, blue jeans, and bean cans. I have not experienced any blade play, damage or deformation!! I see some folks have experienced chipping...maybe it was a fluke bad heat treat? Maybe it was twisted on a hard material? This isn’t my first Aus-8 Cold Steel knife I’ve used and I have not experienced chipping ever, luckily. I dropped an old Vaquero Grande tip down on cement from about 4 feet once and only got the tiniest of tip rolling. I am very impressed! These are not pricey knives either, for $23-24 you are getting tremendous value!!
In a nutshell, you’re getting a light weight, beastly strong blade with tough steel, and the best locking mechanism on the planet for nearly nothing when compared to other makers. Also, it’s a very comfortable knife in hand! I think it could accommodate various hand sizes, even bigger hands due to that great choil.
And it performs EXACTLY as a knife should, it cuts like a buzz saw....even tougher materials like wood and heavy plastic. Buy one, beat it up and I bet you’ll fall in love and buy another.

Fantastic for breaking down cardboard boxes
This serrated blade shreds through cardboard. Cuts easier than a traditional utility blade. I like the unique design and that it doesn't look like every other pocket knife. Overall quality is great as expected from Cold Steel. Smooth operation, comfortable to use, solid lockup. Pocket clip is tight like many others, but that's an easy fix by taking it off and bending it slightly. If they make colored handles for the serrated version I'd buy another.

I saw an article about this knife and wanted it. This is a great little knife. Big enough to do the job and small enough to fit comfortably in your pocket. Very well built. Buy one!!

I've had a chance to live with the Tuff Lite for several weeks, so the following is some impressions I have about it. First off, the Tuff Lite is perfectly sized. For someone looking for a small knife that is actually useful and practical, this knife will fit that role. It fits well to the hand and feels secure. The construction is first rate, no rivets; everything is either pinned or screwed. The blade is very sharp out of the box.
The one thing that I would gripe about is the stiffness and diffulty with which the blade deploys. No excuse for this. For everything that this knife is good at, a smooth deployment should be at the top of the list. I noticed this knife does not have liners. Cold Steel missed an oppurtunity here. Liners and a bearing system would have put this knife at the top of the heap.
I still give it 5 stars, simply because it does everything else so well. At the price, this knife is still a good value as well as a good primary carry or back up. If you're considering purchasing this blade, I would still reccomend it. The deployment issue is a minor annoyance...............THX

Very nice little knife
I really like this thing. I really like the way it feels in my hand. I was surprised that it felt 'comfortable' to me, and I could really see how it could be used defensively also (not to mention watching the video). Nice. Only one little change I would like to see made. For everyday use - the serrations extend to far toward the tip and seem to catch on nearly everything I've tried to use it on. Quite frustrating in that way. IF the serrations were a shorter area near the finger hold, I think those serrations would still be just as useful and the remainder of the blade would be much more useful. Debating on getting one without the serrations - but don't want to lose the utility of them (cuts string, rope, etc great - but not opening envelopes as I might do with whatever knife is in my pocket at the time).

For the short time I held this knife I thought it was awesome
I purchased this knife for my daughter's boyfriend because I thought that even being a small knife it would help encourage him to be a little more manly and prepared , the good news is that it being a cold steel product even he has recognized it's quality and he carries it regularly according to my daughter.

Really big! Looks way smaller in pics, not really "keychain" sized!
I really wanted to like and love this compact every day carry knife to replace my Gerber compact scout, but upon opening the packaging, it's pretty obvious its no where near the size of a compact, fits-on-your-key chain knife!. The real downer is even though the blade is shorter than the blade on my Gerber compact scout(2.5 inches), Cold Steel somehow end up with a huge ass knife that is both longer, wider and thicker while having a shorter, less lengthly blade! Stands out like a sore thumb on a key chain, bigger than most car key fobs. As for the build quality, it's pretty good, and seems sturdy and the lock back functions smoothly while holding the open blade tight. Blade was still a little oily from the factory machining/sharpening.

Unreal, again
Bought this because I uh, had a need for a blade like this. And as per CS standards it is the usual razor sharp, overbuilt product that won't collapse. And this thing with its grivory handles fits like a glove and feels like it might almost perform like a small Karambit. Further research might be needed...;)
Note to all large people: this is the larger tuff-lite and it still feels a bit small in my larger hands (6'2", 230#, you figure out the rest). So if you are considering the mini please think about exactly what your plans are for it. Especially if there is a chance you might be wearing gloves...
Bottom line: super cool and this is going to get a lot of use. I have no doubt that this thing is going to kick ass for years, but will certainly post if something changes. Thanks again, CS!

This knife is awesome. I use it mainly for cutting boxes and rope/shipping straps in a warehouse setting. The blade shape makes it easy to draw along creases while cutting boxes down. The knife is very lightweight. I'm not sure how long the handle will last, but it feels sturdy enough. It is very easy to open with one hand using the hole in the blade. It needed no break in at all. The clip is good as well and the size of it is not too big to wear in a pocket you use often. The best part about the knife is the sharpness of the blade and the serrations. This thing is perfect for deep smooth cuts. Like I said, I use it mainly for cutting down boxes and it has been the smoothest and most efficient destroyer of boxes I've worked with.

Little knife massive cutting power
Extremely sharp very lightweight serrations make a midgrade Aus 8a steel at least in my opinion better. Great for utility or in a pinch as a last resort a great defense option. The ergonomics are fantastic very comfortable to use and carry and the pocket clip is great. Slips in and out of pocket with ease . Of course I must mention the Triad lock for super strong lockup.

Perfect little utility blade
Perfect little utility blade. I always carry this along with my regular edc blades and use this for the dirty work. Serrations stay sharp after cutting cardboard,carpeting,stripping wire and cutting rope day after day. My favorite little beater work knife that helps me from beating up and dulling my more expensive knives. Its excellent for what it is from its size,ergos,light weight,extreme durability and awesome lock- up. Keep in mind,i use this for construction use. Not camping,hunting,or tactical use. Its a rugged little 2 inch serrated blade that just won't quit!

This knife is sharp! The size is exactly what I was looking for. The Picture is what it looks like: a little bit of straight blade close to the tip with a good amount of serration back towards the handle. The lock back on the back of the handle is just tight enough for me. The lock back has the feel of an old folder: sticky in the right spots.

I'm impressed, great value
Great value, OK it could be a little more compact in the pocket, but this has a very sharp blade, the combo edge holds up well. I really like the finger notch it gives you a positive grip. Assisted opening would even be better. There is no perfect knife but this one is an excellent value for the money. I would definitely buy this again!

One tough little knife
I have to say this is one tough little knife. The blade is surprisingly thick and sharp. I have above average size hands and this fits well especially due to the finger notches. I'm a big fan of my knives having flippers which this doesn't but I don't hold that against this knife. Quite frankly, a bad (in a good way) little knife. I'd recommend and even buy again.

Nice Blade
I really do like this little knife--very handy to carry around for a utilitarian pocket knife. Good for quick opening parcels or whatever. I broke the tip off one of these some three years ago, and have missed it all this intervening time. Got another one, and glad I did.

Figured I'd give Cold Steel a try since they've been working on improving their image this year. Is it sharp? Yes. Will it cut stuff? Definitely. Overall I'm underwhelmed though, maybe it's because this is one of their cheaper models but the blade has some wiggle and I'm not really seeing the improvement in quality they keep talking about. Maybe I'll try a different one but if you are looking for a utility knife this will do the job. Won't be replacing any of my ZTs or Microtechs for this. Course this only costs a fraction of those.
