Accept no Substitute
While I will always complain about ink costing over $100 for a replacement pack and I think it is cartoonishly obnoxious that they make you use 8 different cartridges and I groan about how small the cartridges are, I have used the knock-off brand and I can say with confidence that the difference in quality is staggering. You quite literally get what you pay for.
The quality of the prints reproductions of my art on the Canon Pixma-Pro 100 series printer when using Canon photo paper and Canon inks are the highest quality printing I have legit ever seen. The prints are better than anything I have been able to purchase at a professional brick-and-mortar printing business by a mile.
I was ignorant to Giclée printing before buying this printer and I now realize that this is a versatile printer that isn't defined by the limits of other, more standardized inkjet printers. The Canon PIXMA PRO-100 lets you print professional-quality photos in the comfort of your own home. If you're going to buy this level of printer, you may as well get the right ink to go with it!

The genuine Canon, full set of CLI-42 Ink Cartridges
This is the complete ink set for the Canon Pixma Pro 100 and certain other Canon printers. I continue to get excellent results from a three year old Pixma Pro 100 that does a 8 - 10 large prints at a time, then may be idle for 2-3 weeks or longer. I've never had a problem with clogged print heads. The printer seems to do a good job of maintaining itself after being idle, though occasionally it will give a fault message that clears with a reboot.
Each ink cartridge holds 13 ml, a good compromise for this type of occasional printer, as it's more than some 5ml types, but much less than the 80 ml commercial duty models that might dry out before they were spent - and whose ink sets cost several hundred dollars. All things considered, including the pleasure of printing excellent quality prints whenever you choose, I've felt this option to be a good value. Note that you'll never "come out even" with the different inks, so plan to buy an extra yellow or light gray now and then, or perhaps the colors-only set if you don't print many B&W or low-key images.
Of course the "Gillete Business Model" is in effect (sell the razor cheap, sell the blades dear), as the Pixma Pro is always on discount, sometimes less than a regular ink set. (the printer comes with a "starter set" with less ink, so be sure to buy a full ink set with the printer.

Different packaging but same good ink
I ordered this from WholeSale321 and it arrived promptly, however the packaging did not match the product image on Amazon.com and also looked pretty beat up (see images). Looks like this is the EU packaging. The barcode had been crossed off with a marker. I contacted them expressing concern that this was not an original Canon even though it was definitely priced as one. They assured me that it was and I said a prayer and opened up the package.
Happy to report that the individual cartridge packaging was perfect and so far I have opened 4 and they all look brand spanking new and work perfectly. Hope the luck continues with the other ones.

Genuine, but seems repackaged.
Let's first start this by saying this IS genuine Canon ink, there is no doubt about that. What may or may not be clear is that it is seemingly repackaged ink. I received my package on time with everything in great condition. As I open the box containing the ink, the inkwells are stuffed in there with crumpled paper as spacers and protective shielding. To me, no problem; everything was safe. However, I ended up with 2 CLI-42GY (which is Gray) and no Light gray. The printer will automically recognize 2 grays and send out an error code if you try to use a gray in the light gray slot. That was only the real hitch on this deal.

Expensive, but worth it
After trying my hand at ink refills, we've started using genuine Canon ink again. The colors on generic ink are so heard to tweak... and we spent way to much time getting things right color wise, only for it to change on the next batch. The original ink is expensive, but it lasts longer, doesnt fade, and produces the same results all the time. You definitely pay for quality control, but when it comes to printing, that isn't something you want to mess around with.

Not as expensive as it seems.
I have no complaints whatsoever about the CLI-42 inks. I have never had a problem of any kind in my Pro-100 printer. I only buy the full set about every fourth or fifth time I need ink, in between I buy the individual colors or the black ink pack. I read a lot of reviewers complaining about ink cost. It isn't cheap but neither is sending an image to a lab to be printed. I would guess that you would get about 15 more prints for the same money printing them on a Pro-100. When I do the math it's just about twice as expensive to have a good lab print for you and it takes about 60 prints to reach a break-even point on the cost of the printer. So, if you do a lot of photography paying for the ink tanks is a bargain. If you don't do a lot of photography why are you using this printer/ink?

Decent Product but price approaches what I would consider "scalping."
Ink works fine but cartridges have little ink in them, despite their ridiculous cost. Over $100 for a set of half filled OEM ink cartridges boggles my mind. Likely costs Canon less than $2 to make. But if you are into photography where color accuracy is critical, this is your only option. 3rd party cartridges are only good for banners and things where 100% color accuracy is required. Recommended, if you can afford the ink. Otherwise, get the printer color profile from your local Costco or Walmart. Imbed their profile in your files and give them your edited files to print. Generally do a great job at a fraction of the cost of printing at home with a canon inkjet color printer.

Great quality, expensive, but CAN be long lasting.
Canon makes an incredible printer, bottom line. And as a photographer who does all of his own print orders, I can't have a photo that doesn't look EXACTLY like it does on my screen. This ink is fantastic, and despite it's high price, I am getting quality that I haven't from generic brands. I am certain the ink is subject to drying out, and here's why. I printed maybe forty or fifty randomly sized photos and had to replace several cartridges. But, I got a huge order in and had to print 80 8x10's in two days. I only replaced three cartridges; one had been brand new, two were slightly used already from a previous order. Unfortunately, I am in a down time right now, so I'm afraid what ink I do have in there will not last as long as it could if I used it today. But it's the same thing with camera batteries, cards, almost everything. Use it, or lose it. And I don't mind too much. I think in it's prime, it cost me about .50 to print an 8x10, and in it's down time maybe twice that. I'm going to try to figure it up soon. Hope I've helped!

New packaging or fake Ink?
The first package we ordered (earlier this year) looked exactly like the photo on Amazon. The package came with all the colors in their own boxes clearly never opened before. However, we just re-ordered this item and although the box says Canon, it does not look like the first box we got. Also, the ink was just shoved in with paper and a total mess when we opened it. I'm not sure if it was re-packaged or if Canon changed their packaging. I've only needed to replace 1 cartridge so far so it's hard to say if the ink is actually any different.

Nice inks
I use these in my Canon Pixma Pro 100 printer and they work well. I generally use them on high quality matte paper, and they look great. They seem to last a fairly long time – we were able to print approximately 50 - 9x12.5 inch prints with these inks. The yellow, then black, then dark grey ran out first, but this was simply because we had pictures that had a lot of yellow and/or were fairly dark.
The colors seem vibrant and so far, after a few months, they haven't faded. We did spray our prints with archival spray after printing, so I can't speak to how the ink would hold up without spray. We did print a couple of test prints, and when those rubbed together in a box over the course of a few days, some of the ink did rub off slightly onto the back of the print that butted up to it, but once sprayed we had no issue with this, and assume this is to be expected with matte prints.
Our only complaint is that they are so expensive!

Ink is not as good as it used to be
I've been buying this set a few times now and never had an issue with the print quality. This last batch (which was the cheapest I've gotten) is different than the 4 sets I've bought before. I noticed that my bright, colored prints were looking a bit dull and I couldn't wrap my head around it. I thought that I must've changed the settings in my printer, or they reset without me knowing. I sell art prints with my own designs and have a few popular ones that many people buy. I keep a small sample for reference and since I changed the cartridges, the last few prints look dull compared to my samples. I really wish I could keep buying these but I can't trust them again. I'm going to buy the ink from box stores, or directly from the Canon website, until I can find a suitable replacement. I'm giving it 3 stars (even though I'm pretty disappointed) because the last 4 sets were good.

Canon inks make a difference with the Pro-100
Best ink for use with Canon Pixma Pro-100 photo printer. Tried a couple of Canon “compatible” ink tanks and they were TERRIBLE. If you’re going to use expensive paper and want to produce a quality photo, use the real Canon inks with this printer. The difference in the price is worth it. Yes, I know they are pricey, but so is this printer! Produces beautiful photos, I’ve even reprinted wedding photos for friends and they came out better than the professional prints.

Quality Ink
Top quality ink. I really wish it was cheaper but I use this for business purposes to get high quality prints (who with a Pixma Pro doesn't want the highest quality available?) and I need good ink. You can find generic ink to fit the pixma for a quarter of the price, but with lesser quality. Yet, the quality is not far enough below to warrant this being 4 times more. Irregardless I did not buy a Pixma Pro expecting it to be cheap, so this is great quality ink at a premium price.

I am disappointed that Amazon no longer sells the authentic Canon CLI-42 8 PK
Yes there is a legal disclaimer: "These were pulled from a new Pro-100 printer. The cartridges are individually sealed. These are marked SETUP tanks but contain the same amount of ink as retail package". near the bottom of the listing, indicating they are setup tanks not the CLI-42 8 PK. Yes they come from canon but not supported by canon. Maybe I am nitpicking but I would rather buy this product in the original 8 Pack box and pay a little more.

Keep it Canon ink - don’t go for third party.
I wanted to save a few bucks on my PIXMA Pro-100 but it really isn’t worth it if you’re going to back and forth with photos and office print on plain paper.
If its just plain paper and no photos - then generic third parties may work - but there is a definite difference in warmth AND tone when you use generic ink VS this ink.
This is also the best BANG for buck - but you’ll never go through the ink colors evenly and will eventually need to supplement with single ink cartridges of the colors you need. I noticed black and gray (for documents) tend to last longer if running it as a photo printer mostly, which we were.

Never got the ink.
Never got the ink. Unsure how to even locate the messages from the vendor?Any messages sent to vendors should POP up immediately if you get back on amazon you shouldn't have to spend a half hour trying to figure out how to contact Amazon by phone. The phone number for help should be front and center in the middle of the home page. AMAZON is awesome and refunded my money. This vendor my have responded to me I don't know. All I do know is amazon is awesome to fix an issue nut getting up with someone is painfully difficult. I asked my assistant to for ward to Jeff that a phone number be placed on the home page front and center. My time is valuable too and I have spent over 3 hours or more trying to resolve the few problems I have had when dealing with Amazon. They resolved everyone! But getting help was a struggle and way harder than it should be. Save your customers time and put a phone number on the home page. It 2020 and time to do the right thing. Let's see if things change. I just want a phone number and a voice sometimes. I shoulder have to be a private investigator to figure out how to get help. I'm busy don't make billions or have an assistant to resolve my issues. Come on Jeff give us a phone number front and center on the homepage. My time is valuable too. I treat pts as an OT for a living. But I'm not rich and don't have an assistant.

The whole package of ink
Tried other, compatible, brands, but the Canon inks do not clog the print heads. I have used Canons inks for over 15 years on a Canon 9000 Mark II and my current Canon Pro 100. These are the best.

Inkjet refills for my Canon PRO-100
I buy these because they are the only ink cartridges that I will use in my printer. They are very expensive, and I must buy an 8-pack 3 times per year. The color on my photos are better with this color ink than any that I have used. Of course, it helps to have an above average printer, as well. I have tried the ink refills on printers that I have owned in the past, without success, so I stick to OEM refills.
I would like to see Canon increase the amount of ink in each cartridge, or lower the cost, but without a quality alternative, this is not likely to happen.

Works great, lasts a long time.
These don't dry out. I sometimes go months between print jobs and the ink stays fresh and ready to go. Colors are good, and I expect these will last a long time since my oldest prints with this ink are about 8 years old now and still looking great. Never had them jam or leak; no problems at all.

Always go with the best
This is the second 8-pack I’ve purchased so I could always have ink ready if running out during a printing session. The Canon Pixma Pro-100, in which it is used, is very miserly with ink, but it’s nice to have replacement ink on hand. The printer is fabulous and the ink has great color rendition and works excellently with Canon papers. I have never understood why any serious photography printer would buy cheap knock-off printer ink that could clog the print heads and/or ruin the print. I’ve always bought OEM ink and I haven’t had a failed print.

reasonable ink replacement cost
I have a pixma pro 100 and an Epson P600. the cost of the pixma replacement ink is 120, the Epson, 300 dollars, though there is a difference in print quality, I am not sure there is 200 dollars worth of improvement on the Epson. I highly recommend the pixma pro 100 in any event

Best way to buy ink
First of all, must remember that OEM Canon ink for Canon printer and Canon paper is best combination for print permanence. 3rd party inks do not and cannot match OEM for print permanence and that is important to me because I frame/mount my prints, give some to friends, and sell some. I can't afford to have a print start fading soon after printing. I also spray my prints with a UV inhibitor such as Desert Varnish. Also, because I use Canon ink, my print heads don't clog and create problems. The only thing I don't like is the price but buying in 8-pak at least offers a little better value.

Great but one cartridge leaked out
Everything was great except when i recently opened the pack the black ink had leaked out of its container. I didn't need it until now and it seems my return timeframe is up so make sure you open everything right away.
