気になる発熱ですが、私のPC環境で最大48度程度です。季節にも寄りますが室温25度での使用です。プライス面、性能面、バランスの良いと思います。
-Faster than Sata
-Uses m.2 slot which is out of the way and doesn't require cable routing.
-Installation is way simpler than what I was expecting but the heat sink is kind of weird but I guess all m.2 drives are similar when it comes to heatsinks
-Actually speeds up my system just by being installed as a game drive (not as an OS drive). Maybe my pc just decided to use it automatically to speed up boot time, 3-6 seconds is surprisingly noticeable.
Cons:
-The speeds I'm getting are way lower than the "max" that is advertised
-No instructions whatsoever, the box contents include a plastic sleeve, the M.2 drive and a heatsink. Turns out you have to go to their site and downloaded the instructions
-The heatsink is held on by what looks like some double sided tape, so longevity is a concern when the drive can apparently reach temps in excess of 70C
-Had an issue when pc stopped recognizing the drive while I was writing to it. A couple of reboots didn't solve the problem but entering bios and double checking everything was set up correctly (not really changing anything) seems to have fixed it...hopefully.
Other thoughts:
Using AS SSD to measure Read and Write speeds, using 1gb, 3gb, 5gb, and 10gb file samples results.
1GB - 1822R and 1110W
3GB - 1740R and 1174W
5GB - 1683R and 1185W
10GB - 1658R and 1184W
Not quite the 2100/1500 R/W that's advertised, maybe I've got one on the lower end but the whole reason I got it was because I needed a game drive that I didn't have to do any cable routing on. The speeds are still faster than Sata but in games I haven't noticed much of a difference (none actually). If I could have I would have just gone for the Sata M.2 drive but my motherboard supported only this kind.
I wouldn't say its worth it unless you're desperate for space.
I have swapped enclosures, cables, and tried it on another machine... no joy
Just pay the extra dough and buy the Samsung 970 EVO NVMe M.2 that supports S.M.A.R.T. Monitoring
